The bumpy gravel road is worth it to the 15 acre private paradise beach home at the top of the hill with a fabulous view of the Gulf and an sun deck. Nested adjacent to the famous Boy Scout Woods Birding site with a view of the bird lands, we are happy to share our home with you, equipped with everything you will need. The first floor of the beach house has a screened porch, living room, dining room (seats 12), kitchen, laundry, and œ bath. Upstairs is 3 themed bedrooms each with a private bath, bird room (queen), cowboy and Indian room (queen), and Texas USA room (double) as well as a library that can be used with air mattresses. Pets are welcome, but please remember you are in the country and a coyote or pig will cross the pasture in the evening from time to time.
This was a perfect place for friends that like to get together for Birding. Three nice bedrooms with private baths, nice gathering spaces to hang out and eat, kitchen well equipped, and a quiet location. There is a nice pool. Do not let the drive to the property scare you. Even able to do birding on the drive in!
If your looking for seclusion then this is the place for you. We saw lots of wildlife, rabbits, armadillos, The drive to the secluded McFadden beach is a short distance away. There are some minor repairs needed on the pool deck, but we didnât care since no other rentals provide a swimming pool. Lots of wonderful collectibles in the house to see also. Thanks for having us.
The house was everything as listed. The only problem we had with the place is we could never have enough bug spray. The mosquitoes were relentless. But besides that the house was awesome great views from the bedrooms. A very big abundance of wildlife. Seen a bunch of pigs and even a bobcat in the backyard. The groups of birds were amazing to see. Will definitely be booking this house again in the future. The privacy was like no other. With great access to the beach. Was well worth the stay.
We enjoyed the location as it was just us out there and no neighbors or traffic around. However, the dishwasher was loaded with dishes, the pots and pans were rusty, the majority of the seasonings and other perishables in the cabinets were expired. One item was expired in 2017. There were spiderwebs on the stairs to the second floor bedrooms. The pool was greening because it needed water for the pump to work. It just felt really grimy like it hasnt been truely cleaned in a long time. The floors were really gross to the point that if you didnt have your socks or shoes on your feet would turn black. It just was not a great stay but we made the best of it. Every cabinet and drawer and closet is packed full if random item. We will not be back to this property.
This was a great location. It was right in High Island but secluded from traffic and other vacationers. The house has an amazing view of the beach and we could even watch birds from the yard. The road in is a bit bumpy, but that kept other people from venturing in.
