Joe, I’m very confused by this review. When I spoke with you 2 days into your stay you were very effusive about how great the location, beach and house were. Also, you were extremely complimentary to my caretaker, Rob, on these qualities, and how quickly responsive we were. Others in your group told him similar things. There was no hint by the end of your stay that anything had changed. Our reviews are consistently 5 of 5 Stars. I make copious improvements and esthetic maintenance enhancements, annually. True, you could get a brand-new place with brand spanking new everything, but it would cost you twice as much or more for the very same beach in Emerald Isle. Most people think that my place is about the best of everything overall: location, quality, appearance, and price.

Alice: This is a horribly misleading and deceitful review. You threatened to give me an outrageously bad review if I did not refund 50% of your rent. Anyone can tell from the 4 and 5-STAR reviews I routinely receive that your review is deceitful and wacky. Despite the fact I assured you that I would give you a generous refund considering the fact that my maintenance man, plumber and cleaning supervisor all agreed the issues you related were much smaller than your review states. You continued to make OBNOXIOUS nearly daily phone calls and texts demanding 50% refund. You did not have to vacate the property at any time ! Your insults, extremely inappropriate demands and your outrageous tone for 50% refund or a terrible review to get the amount of money you were demanding is totally inappropriate !! You were politely asked not to use the one shower with the leaky drain (there are 5 other showers to use). My maintenance man said your group continued to use the leaky shower & made it worse! Despite the issues I was dealing with personally which you knew about (including in hospital in-patient isolation), you continued obnoxious phone call after phone call, and then added numerous texts and emails. I forgive you for your transgressions and I wish you the best & hope you learn from my good example to walk in goodness and kindness. Bob Cosgrove

Thank you, Ella! I try to keep my place in great shape for renters. The lack of hot water was a leaking hot water heater, which I paid my plumber extra to expedite same day replacement, so as to not inconvenience you and your guests. With 4 additional queen sleeper sofas, and high quality twin air mattresses for kids, my duplex comfortably accommodates up to 30 depending upon your sleeping requirements. It was such a memorable, special "time out of time" for our family. Great grandma Polly (age 93, pictured with all her greatgrands at the table and with the youngest) appreciated it the most! It was perfectly located, a perfect size, and adequately equipped to make our stay wonderful. Thank you SO much!! Sincerely, Nancy" My place is perfect for multi-generational family reunions and is especially suited to older people who may have trouble with stairs, as I do. On the main level is a queen bedroom & full bath, with dining room, living room, kitchen, deck, walkway to a shaded sitting deck at the end of the dunes over looking the beach with only 8 steps down to the beach from there. Except for arrival at the beginning of the week, my mother who came to my beach house twice a year til the summer before she died at 93 last year, would never leave the main level, because she didn't need to. The photos Nancy sent me are amazingly precious! The headaches of owning a beach house are extremely well worth it when I can share it with other people, especially with people who love my place and Emerald Isle as much as my family and I do. This beach house sleeps up to 30 comfortably. There are 2 Kings, 4 Queens, 4 Queen size sleeper sofas, 4 twins and 6 high quality twin size air mattresses.

This review is UNFAIR. The water damage occurred the day before these renters arrived. This water damage was completely outside my control. I took action IMMEDIATELY. I called the only phone number I had for the renters and left a message. When I finally reached them, I offered 100% of their money back if they wanted to stay elsewhere. The man I spoke with declined saying they didn’t need that one bedroom and the one bathroom. He said they had five bathrooms any way and that would be fine. He was totally fine with the dry out emergency people coming with regard to the water problem. He never complained about the workers coming in for short times each day to check their equipment and drying progress. The air conditioning had been repaired the week before and the window units had not been picked up by the repair company yet. The central air worked fine. There was no need to use the window units and the man I spoke with acknowledged that error when he brought up the window units on the phone after a couple days. I told him I would refund 25% of the rent for the affected side and he was DELIGHTED. I pay for MONTHLY extermination service to keep my house pest free. I called immediately and the exterminator came right out and did a special treatment. He said the renters completely exaggerated about the ants. When informed about the burned out lights I asked my maintenance man to replace them immediately. I told the renter. I would refund 25% of the rent for the affected side and he was DELIGHTED. They have already received their deposit as he states today, and my bookkeeper put the refund of rent promised in the next batch of payables, which he probably will have received by the time his review gets published. Impatience about receiving a refund is hardly justification for an unfair review. I keep my house in extraordinarily good shape and take care of the occasional problem as soos as possible.
