Check in was nice and easy. Place was very comfortable and inviting. Had everything we needed. Gary was very nice and had good recommendations on where to eat and hot spots to check out. Absolutely stunning view of the lake! Would definitely stay here again.
Check-in was easy. The host met us when we arrived and the door code had been sent in earlier email. It was helpful to that the host there. While there were directions in the email that we could have most likely figured it out, having him there made it easy. Guest parking spot was clearly marked. There is a beautiful view of the lake from the living room and bedroom. Open concept kitchen, living, dining and TV room. Wi-Fi was easy to access and good signal. The kitchen area was adequate for our needs which were minimal. It would have been nice to have had some regular coffee pods for the Keurig coffee maker or some other way of making that early morning coffee. Very scenic drive to get to this unit. The directions were quite clear. Be on the alert for deer as we encountered them each time we were on the road. Thanks to the host for opening this home.
Had a great stay. The view of the lake from the house is spectacular. Sitting by the lake is so quiet and beautiful. Gary and his wife were so nice. The house was clean and welcoming.
We enjoyed our stay here. Overall, it was quiet and comfortable. It is 2 mi from the day use area of Woahink Lake where there are all kinds of trails, including one to get over Hwy 101 to Cleawox Lake. We walked those two miles, once. Had the house been closer to the trails I would have rated it as a five-star stay. Gary is a good host.
Wonderful visit. Very spacious with amazing views of the lake. The host Gary is very friendly and responsive to any needs/ questions. Highly recommended!
My wife & I stayed at Gary's place for 4 nights. It's a great set-up for us - easy parking, privacy, peaceful around the clock. The view of the lake was off-the-hook.I read a review about a hectic 4th of July party, but that has to be way out of the ordinary. We did meet Gary once as we were leaving - he's easy going and super nice. The main space of the apartment is clean, comfortable and had some nice retro features - which we enjoy. Thanks for a great stay, Gary!!!
I had a great stay here. Place is clean and has a great view. Very close to both Dunes city and Florence. However, I did not realize this was technically someoneâs downstairs/basement area converted to work as a nice fully furnished spot. Luckily they werenât there while I was though some reviews have said they are so just be aware of that if needed. Traveling alone means I usually ensure a space is completely my own. But everything was great! Checkin instructions were super easy and the views are so relaxing. Only other notes I have would be that thereâs no bedroom door and to add a latch or something on the inside main door as an extra lock to make people feel safer. The downstairs has great windows and you can even wake up to the lake view! Though maybe add instructions on how to work the blinds too. I figured it out but it took me a minute. Thanks for the relaxing stay!
This is a little gem on the lake. There is a path down to a boathouse and dock. We enjoyed sitting by the water. This part of the lake is very quiet. The accommodations were decent. The host was very kind.
We had a nice stay at Gary's place. The weather wasn't warm the weekend we were there (mid 60s), but that didn't stop us from spending an afternoon swimming. The water was wonderful!
The photos in the listing are exactly what you get. It's a nice, big space; very clean and comfortable. The views are spectacular! All the basics are provided. Gary was nice and greeted us upon our arrival, and after that left us to ourselves.
Some things that were not mentioned in the listing that you may care to know about:
- This is Gary's basement, which was a big surprise. And Gary was home. I found it inhibiting at first, but got used to it by the second day.
- If you have mobility issues, this may not be the right place for you. You must navigate stairs (half flight) to get in.
- The dock is *below* the house, accessed by a trail that is maintained, but uneven with roots and it's quite steep. I was only able to get there the day we arrived and then once again the afternoon we went swimming. I used my hiking poles the second time, which made it easier, but I almost didn't back down because of my mobility issues. My husband had no trouble with it, though.
- Gary has a small dog (poodle mix?) that barked at us and did not let us near, but it mostly stayed upstairs with Gary.
The reason we chose this listing was the water, which was lovely and totally worth the effort. It's a nice dock with loungers, table and chairs, etc. It's quiet and pretty, and we had a glorious time in the water.
