Mike and Wanda are incredibly attentive and nice, while still somehow leaving you to enjoy your vacation at an incredible lake, with their platoon of boats and clean and inviting house.
We had an incredible stay. We were lucky enough to have a fantastic northwoods fall getaway. We seen amazing northern lights and even seen jellyfish in the lake. We felt very relaxed and welcomed!
We loved the beautiful property and the quiet lake location. The comfortable house was fully equipped with everything we needed and more. We canât wait to return. Weâd highly recommend this place! Thank you Mike and Wanda for everything!
We stayed here for the second time and it was wonderful again. Amazing owners, Mike and Wanda, who have lovingly cared for the property. Such nice hosts who make sure your stay is a real vacation. The cabin is beautiful and everything thing you need is there.
Thank you, Mike and Wanda! We had a great weekend with our adult children and our dog. Very happy we decided to try to get in some quality weekend time. Everything was awesome: the house and gazebo (with unique decor full of history), the location, all the amenities, from corn hole to water toys.
This is by far the nicest cabin Iâve stayed in in the 20 plus years Iâve been coming to this area. Mike and Wanda are the perfect hosts! The nicest people youâd ever want to meet! They go out of their way to make sure all your needs are met! Their hard work shows in the cleanliness of their properties. We loved everything, the grounds are impeccably taken care of, the boat house is incredible! My group and I will definitely be back, this is our permanent destination for our yearly fishing trip. Thank you Mike and Wanda!!!
This is our second time staying at Amazing Grace Retreat and it was just as wonderful as the first time we visited. Mike and Wanda are hands down the best hosts, making sure we had everything we needed and answered any and all questions we had about the property and during our stay in general -- They are just the nicest and most personable hosts and people! Mike and Wanda even brought over a bottle of bubbles for our two year old son to enjoy when the weather wasn't the greatest, which he truly loved and appreciated!
The property and home itself are both truly amazing -- clean and welcoming and a wonderfully relaxing environment, and love the retro feel of the cabin, yet having all of the necessities. We rented the boat and enjoyed taking it out for fishing and our son's first boat ride... an experience he will never forget. To Mike and Wanda, thanks again so much for allowing us to enjoy your little piece of heaven and we look forward to staying with you two again soon, likely the next time with baby boy #2.
God Bless!

This is an amazing property and location. With so much of the lake undeveloped, it provides a quiet and serene northwoods experience. The cabin is huge and can easily handle more than the two of us on this trip. All of the photos of the cabin and the property are completely accurate. I always appreciate lots of detailed photos when trying to choose a cabin.
All of the watercraft and equipment are in great shape. We utilized the kayaks, paddle boards, and fishing boat. They were all clean, in good condition, and performed well. This was primarily a fishing trip so we rented the motor for the fishing boat as well. The fishing did not disappoint either. Numerous species were caught on both White Birch and Ballard. The channel connecting the lakes is easily navigable.
Wanda and Mike were great hosts! They had excellent communication before our arrival and answered all of our questions. The arrival directions were spot on and made it very easy to find their property. They have one of the best maintained access roads I have seen at a northwoods cabin. They were available to address any needs but otherwise gave us our privacy. If you are looking for a great northwoods experience, this is the place for you!
Wonderful, CLEAN, quiet, beautiful place to stay. Everything you need is there, and the cabin is comfy and large. Lots of stuff to do on the property such as fishing off the dock, using the kayaks or canoe to paddle around the lake. Nice gazebo where you can hang out and there are games to play there. Enjoyed building a campfire and hanging out with family around the fire.
Mike and Wanda are the best hosts. Making sure that you have everything you need but also allowing you lots of privacy. Our family can't wait to come back again!
Lakefront cabin with all the amenities you could want! The cabin is on a small lake, White Birch, that has only two other properties on its shores. You can boat, kayak, fish, swim, canoe or just relax. Many hiking, atv and biking trails in the area for out of water fun. The property owners live onsite next door and are wonderful hosts.
My sister and I really enjoyed our stay at Amazing Grace. Of the places we have stayed in this 40-mile vicinity over the past several years, this is the first we feel compelled to return to.
The proprietors, Mike and Wanda, were friendly and gracious hosts during our stay and regularly checked to ask if there was anything we needed. The cabin was very clean and in order on arrival and had everything we needed, including the grill, which we put to good use. It was also a really nice space - - a lot of cool vintage items like games, records, books, etc., that added character, the beds were comfortable (a must for me), and we loved the two sitting areas â one inside and one outside â each had two comfy seats and a view of the lake. The grounds were nice, too . . . we were too lazy to play shuffleboard . . . maybe next time!
White Birch Lake and Ballard Lake (to which it is connected) were beautiful - if your definition of beauty is a scattering of homes, mostly state land, beautiful tree lines, loon nests, low noise, and sense of the unspoiled. We explored both lakes almost every day with our boat. The vegetation is fantastic and supports a healthy fish population. We enjoyed catching and releasing bass, crappie, and muskie during our stay.
Iâm really glad Mike and Wanda found this place and opened it for us to visit. Great place; really nice people.
Mike and Wanda were absolutely the best host you could ask for, you can tell they take a lot of pride in there properties, there decor is beautiful in both of their cabins, I will definitely be reaching out to them in the future,
Amazing Grace retreat was an amazing experience. The property was cozy, clean, beautiful, family friendly, and had everything we needed. Mike and Wanda were wonderful -- very friendly, attentive, and accommodating with exceptional communication (thanks again for accommodating a later than expected check in). We had a such a great and relaxing time and we were bummed to leave but plan to stay longer on our next visit. Thank you so much again for everything and can't wait to stay again!
The cabin was very clean and cute, the hosts were welcoming and helpful, fall colors were spectacular, we saw lots of wildlife including a bear, and the sauna was relaxing. It was a perfect get-a-way for us.
Everything you could possibly want for a very relaxing getaway!!!! Beautiful view and access to the lake with many options added in for outdoor fun and entertainment! The cabin house was very clean, spacious, with comfortable beds, and a much needed relaxing sauna! Multiple views to relax and watch nature from inside the cabin as well as from the porch. Communication with host and access to facility was made easy! A wonderful place to stay!!!
Where to start⊠the owners are an incredible couple who seem to enjoy hosting people at their little slice of paradise. They are extremely helpful and there when you need them but invisible otherwise. The location is great and is right on the clearest of lakes, with a little sandy beach, good size dock with a lift and seating, what seems like a boat ramp, and a sweet fire pit. The cabin and the spacious waterfront lot is off the beaten path and secluded from the main road, settled peacefully in a dense old forest. There are two small resorts nearby, but we hardly saw other people on this crystal clear lake late in August. There are three inhabitable structures on this 3 acre lot. One of them is this 2 bedroom rental cabin - and what a time capsule it is! The other two larger buildings are: a home where the owners reside, and a cute boathouse that is separately available for rent as well. There is a floating swim platform and a huge! inflatable bouncer anchored just a few yards off the shore. Wildlife is abound everywhere you look - kids and our dog really enjoyed looking at deer and chipmunks from just feet away. There are plenty of activities for adults and kids alike on the property and the cabin is well stocked with games, puzzles, books, and DVDs. There is a sauna at the cabin that can easily hold four adults - we enjoyed it in the evenings to unwind after an active day on the water and in the woods. The smart TV in the loving room offers access to virtually any online video platform out there; recliner chair and sofa makes watching TV a pleasure. The wifi is slow and service can be spotty, but that is what you get out in the wild. AT&T and T-Mobil had no signal at the property, but you do get one bar a few miles down the main road, enough to make a call or access the web. There is a grocery store (Coontail Market) in Boulder Junction and a much bigger store in Minocqua (Triggs and Walmart), if you need a wider selection of goods. Mad Dog Jakeâs ice cream in BJ is a place to visit, too. We enjoyed our almost week-long stay and had a great time. Hope to come back, perhaps in the winter this time around. One of the coolest places we have been to in a while. Good destination if you want a relaxing vacation away from it all, but with other super nice humans nearby. ;-)
This is truly amazing place. They have all the fun toys( Kayaks, paddle boards, row boats, paddle boat, a raft in the water and water trampoline, canoe & more) on a quiet lake. You can also rent a motorised boat at extremely reasonable rates. Mike & Wanda are outstanding hosts and think of all the little things. The cabin has a huge bedroom in the back that can sleep 6-8 and the other bedroom is more standard. Great set up for an extended or large family. Cleanest cabin we have ever stayed in. We were already checking availability for next year after the first day!
The property is beautiful and the accommodations were clean. Hosts were amazingly helpful on our stay. Having a full fridge and an oven/stove would be a nice addition to the place, however. But we would definitely return either way.
Our stay at Amazing Grace Retreat was definitely a treat!
The owners Mike and Wanda were such kind people and the property was much more than we anticipated! Itâs the extra things that made this please special!
We opened Amazing Grace Retreat in winter of 2019, Now in our third year this fall season! We are looking forward to seeing last yearâs guests and meeting many new guests for the 2022 season! Try us we think you will be Amazed!
Easy access to Snowmobile trails! This property is located on White Birch lake, one of the most unique waterways in the Northwoods! White Birch Lake is on the 1100 acre Ballard chain with Over 80% State Forest! Offering great pan fishing as well as Musky, Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass and Perch! It is like going to Canada without the drive! Canoe, paddle board, ski, fish, boat or just relax in the sun! Shopping and restaurants very close by! Fantastic hiking trails close to cabin and fantastic Bike trails near by!
