We had a brilliant time in the cottage.
The location is exceptional with numerous lakes to swim in and villages to explore.
The outside space is really excellent with a huge garden, outdoor dining & fruit trees.
The owner was easy to contact & answered all our questions promptly.
The property decor is a little tired, but the space was fantastic with very large bedrooms full of character.
Just outside the historic Saint-BenoĂźt-du-Sault is this comfortable house. The garden is great, with easy chairs and a barbecue, daily sights of deers in the woods and a great place to watch the stars on clear nights. The house is well equipped and the bedrooms are clean. We spent some lovely days hiking and canoeing in the neighbourhood. Owner responds very fast. Well recommended.
We have just had a lovely stay at this cottage. It was a bit cold to be in the garden on this stay but it was lovely a neat and tidy but the sun room/garden room was brilliant as it was a warm sunny place to sit but out of the wind. Lovely new oven and baking tray. New mirrors also very helpful. This was our second visit and we would come back again. Fire was a real bonus as it was so cold.
We visited Andy's maison with two small children (3 and 6 months) in August of this year. We enjoyed our stay very much. The interior is old, but it is clean and cosy, with large rooms and everything one needs to have a comfortable holiday. The surroundings are great: it's quiet and beautiful, which makes the evenings under the gazebo particularly relaxing. There are many things to do in the vicinity of the house: the lake at Chaillac, the castle of Lignac. Limoges is a 50 minutes drive, which is very doable. Overall we loved it and we will come back to see what Andy has done with the place.
We had a lovely stay in this house. It has imperfections but it feels friendly and easy to live in. The beds were all clean and beautiful and the floors polished. We particularly enjoyed the outside and the garden where there were excellent garden chairs and dining suite. The pool was fun in the summer and we would like to go back. The closest bakery is at St Benoit du Sault which is a wonderful. There is shade in the heat of the day and the little table at the front of the house is fantastic for breakfast and you can watch the sunset whist having dinner in the back garden. the birds sing in the trees in the morning and this is a really lovely spot but not isolated.
This was our 2nd stay at this property and was just as idyllic as we remembered. The cottage is wonderfully peaceful and yet still only 5 minutes drive from the local supermarket for fresh bread and provisions.
As it was October the evenings were a little chilly but we lit the fire and this soon warmed up the whole cottage and just added to the homely atmosphere.
Can't wait to come here again!
Fridge freezer would either freeze everything or turn itself off and would not come back on for about 5 hours. Tried to contact the owner but had no response.
A wonderful property with loads of character in an idyllic setting.
We spent two weeks in Andys cottage and had a great time. We took our three boys (3, 2 and 6 months old) who had a great time playing in the large, enclosed garden and the above ground swimming pool which they spent hours in each day. BBQ's every evening and al fresco dining in the garden was the perfect end to days spent exploring the local towns and market or playing and swimming in the two nearby lakes. Well located for restaurants, boulangeries and the supermarket. An easy 5/6 hours from Calais. We will be back!
This house is very spacious indeed, it is in a nice quiet location it is semi detached but was like a detached house as the people who had the house next door were not there all week. If your family don't like the same temperature the house is very cool, you can have the best of both worlds as you can open the patio doors and still communicate with the others sat outside on the front patio. It has a very large back garden, so is ideal for children to run around freely. There is a super u supermarket and fuel station 10 mins drive away that sold everything you would need, the prices aren't any more expensive than in England, they are open Monday to Saturday 09.30 till 19.30 and Sundays 09.00 till 12.00. Most places we visited the shops were closed from 12.00 till 14.30, and the restaurants open at 12.00 till 14.00. We went to Limoges on the Sunday that we were going home, the market was open in the morning and only a few restaurants were open, so I wouldn't recommend going on a Sunday. If you stay here you will need to hire a car as it is not on a bus route. We took our 3 dongle which didn't get a signal. We are both on 3 network, my husband got a signal on his phone most of the time, but I didn't for some unknown reason even though roaming was activated. Andy who rented us the property gave us loads of information about things to do and there was loads of leaflets on display in the kitchen. The sat nav didn't seem to know where the place was till we put in Lieu-Dit La Croix Rouge. Finally the bed is quite firm. Thanks Andy for the bottle of wine which my husband enjoyed very much.
Very spacious both inside and out. Loved the welcome bottle of wine; also, little touches like coffee, all towels and toilet roll being provided made a real difference. Pool very welcome when days were hot and sunny. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.
We spent a lovely 2 week holiday here ,with warm sunny days and a peaceful location yet only a short drive to the local town with a boulangerie and a Super U ! Lots of quiet country walks in the locality and evenings spent chatting to the local residents in our best french !
The cottage was well equipped and very spacious and the coffee percolater was amazing !The garden was enormous and the pool was the icing on the cake ! We had visits from woodpeckers in the garden and saw deer on our moring walks . Thoroughly recommended and Andy is a very helpful owner. Merci beaucoup
Beautiful traditional french cottage in a peaceful Idyllic setting.
We had the most relaxing holiday ever in this beautiful cottage. Whilst the setting is quiet and unspoilt the local shops cater for everything you need from croissants and baguettes and fresh produce to excellent wines as only the French can.
The outside space is fabulous with lots of trees for shade; a great pool to cool off in with views over the local countryside.
The cottage is very spacious but still cosy with a very traditional feel about it. In fact we really fell in love with the place and can't wait to return.
I live and work in the UK with my two sons. We bought the house in 2015 after falling in love with this area and I genuinely believe its one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas there is!
The location is simply just so tranquil with warm and much longer summers than the UK. The local area is stunning and you can enjoy quiet roads, great food especially the local goats cheeses and Berrichonne salads. Watch the sun go down in the back garden or watch it come up sat with a coffee and a croissant on the patio area at the front. Just 6 hours drive from Calais or 40 minutes from Limoges Airport it feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Relax, kick back and recharge your batteries.
