Who knew life on the rocks could be SO wonderful!!!
Perched over the tide drenched rocky shore was the most comforting and relaxing way to spend our time.
The views and serenity were surreal and unsurpassed.
There are no words to describe it. The view is amazing and so very relaxing. The Studio was perfect and Sheri was great to communicate. It was a wonderful experience all around.
You will never find a location as spectacularly amazing and private as this. Whatever time you plan on staying wonât be enough. I actually cried when I left.
I was able to explore all of the islands in the Harpswell area, hike nearby trails, do a day trip to Portland, and just sit back and enjoy the sunrise and sunset on the ocean every day. It was so cool to see the moon reflecting in the water, lighthouse lights in the distance at night, and lobster boats going about their business as well.
If I am ever in the area again I will make sure I plan my trip around the availability of this house. The property manager, Sheri, is also incredible! She was so helpful answering any questions I had and went out of her way to make my stay exceptional. If I had a property I would absolutely want her to manage it. Sheri gets 10 stars!
Thank you to the owners and Sheri for everything!!!
The property was amazing. The views of the sunrises and sunsets over Casco Bay from the porch or fire pit area are worth every penny. Be mindful, the water is quite chilly in October, but itâs a great cold plunge to start the day! We will be back!
From the wooded, well maintained dirt road into the property, to seeing the actual building location and grounds, You are just in awe. Simple and clean amenities.
I'm a TV freak and didn't look for a TV to watch for a day and a half.
Spectacular.
The pictures do not do this cottage justice. It is serene, and you are literally on the water. The property manager was extremely helpful and communicative. Also I've never seen a cleaner rental and I am an OCD cleaner. Thank you for the relaxation and the ability to be so close to nature.
My husband and I had a fantastic time during our stay @ the Studio. We enjoyed the stunning views from our porch, exploring on the beach at both low and high tide, watching the lobster boats and soaking up the sun while relaxing on the porch. There were plenty of towns nearby for shopping for necessities and dining. We had a wonderful vacation.
You will not be amazed at the beautiful surroundings as you drive onto this property. The 1.8 mile drive on the dirt road may have you questioning your decision to rent âThe Studioâ but you will never regret it.
We were mesmerized by the coastline, birds, eagles and even saw a seal and a mink.
Took some recommended trails that were awesome and ate the best lobsters and scallops ever!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Studio! The views were utterly amazing! By far one of the best locations we have ever stayed at in Maine. Having the rocks and tide pools to explore right outside our door was so much fun, and not just for our 8yr old, but for my husband and I as well (and even for our dog!) The location was just so peaceful and idyllic. And wildlife abound! From all of the fish and crabs scattering around in the tide pools, to watching all sorts of different shore birds swoop in and out of the coastline, being in awe of the eagles flying overhead and perching on the rocks just 100 ft away, and of course our favorite... sighting the seal(s) swim by our window almost daily was simply amazing!
The Studio was super clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Perfect for our family of 3 and such a wonderful bonus that we were able to include our pup on our vacation as well. Jack was a great host and so helpful to have nearby. We were also very lucky to be visiting during a heat wave so the ocean waters were perfectly refreshing and having the solar heated pool was fantastic!
It truly was a wonderful stay! We can not wait to return!
It's impossible to describe the view from the porch of this property. Pictures do not do it justice. The property was clean and well furnished. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who loves the ocean and wants a nice relaxing vacation.
Spent a wonderful week at The Studio. The view, the privacy, the delightfully appointed cottage with everything you need (and a salt water pool) made for a restful and delightful Maine stay.
Being a Maine resident who grew up in a coastal town, it takes quite a lot to âwowâ me when it comes to staying on the coast, but âthe Studioâ did just that. At full high tide, the water reaches under the porch. We saw bald eagles, seals, herons and deer almost daily. You can swim off the beach right in front of the cottage or enjoy the heated salt water pool a few steps away. You can fish for striped bass off the ledges right next to the cottage or off the floating dock. With the tide changing constantly the scene changes with it with sail boats and lobster boats hauling traps nearby. The sea breeze kept us comfortable even though it was hot inland just a few miles away. Sunsets were especially beautiful with the sea birds whispering past just a few feet away making their way out to the islands for the night.
The very much enjoyed our stay at the studio! If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation, this is the spot and the views were AMAZING! The house was clean and well stocked and the property was well maintained. We would definitely stay here again.
This was our first time staying at The Studio though weâve been to the area many times. The Studio was by far the most spectacular location by far. We saw eagles, osprey, seals....all up close. Very good kayaking except you can only get out 2 hours before and after high tide. They do have a dock available where you can get out any time but dismounting was difficult for my husband and his knees.
The cottage is very nice, not fancy, but very clean and very well stocked.
Iâm looking forward to revisiting!
This gorgeous piece of land is now owned and maintained by the three eldest brothers of the Dostie family- Paul, Jack and Dan. They all live on various spots along the peninsula.
"We are so happy that you are able to enjoy The Studio as it truly is a special place."
The Gun Point peninsula has a rich history beginning with Native Americans, later including pirates, bootleggers and smugglers. There was also abundant industry here for a time. At the turn of the century, Danâs Ice Pond (a freshwater pond located more inland on the peninsula) was created to harvest ice. Ice was shipped all along the East Coast as far as Florida. During the Colonial War supplies were blocked by the British; subsequently a âsalt worksâ was built on Gun Point Creek to process sea salt. Since then, the peninsula has served as a docking area for lobster fishing, clam and mussel harvesting, seaweed harvesting and a fabulous vacation spot. In the early 1960âs, Jules and Yvette Dostie with partners and friends, bought the entirety of Gun Point; built the road and developed the land.
Located at the very tip of the Gun Point peninsula, you can experience spectacular views that will make you fall in love with this unique place. While enjoying morning coffee or dining al fresco on the front deck, you can watch lobster boats getting their daily catch, and sailboats on their way to Boothbay Harbor. It is an exceptional place where you can enjoy the pool, walk the beach, collect sea glass and shells, or just relax and enjoy the summer days.
