The Chateau exceeded all of our expectations and we all loved our time there. Alice and Mathilde were extremely helpful and responsive to our questions and I canât begin to thank them enough. Every single room was stunning as were the grounds and views of the mountains. The Chateau feels very private and is peaceful and relaxing. I would thoroughly recommend this location to anyone considering it and I canât imagine anything being better.
We stumbled across ChĂąteau de Villeclare by chance and we still canât believe our luck. It is the most incredible and unique place.
The location of Villeclare is idyllic. Surrounded by vineyards (you can buy wine from them directly) and just under 1 mile from the village of Palau-Del-Vidre which has everything youâd need - a small supermarket, pharmacy, bars, 2 pizza places (Palau Pizza delivered to us on numerous occasions - would very much recommend for pizzas and rotisserie chickens) and L'Ancienne Ăcole is a beautiful fine dining restaurant.
We rented the chĂąteau for a full week and the other accommodation onsite for long weekends (the Ăcurie house owned by Marianne is absolutely out of this world).
The chĂąteau is a beautiful mix of rustic charm and shabby chic interiors. There were 16 of us in total including 2 children under 10 and a baby. We felt it was very well equipped for a large group.
The owner, Alice, was very good at communicating from the beginning and the host Mathilde warmly welcomed us and was on hand if we ever needed anything during the week.
Our wedding guests were completely shocked and overwhelmed by the location and chĂąteau - it really was a French dream!
I cannot find anything negative about this place. Everything was perfect. very good communication even in english, attention to details, beautiful rooms, all of us 12 enjoyed our time at the castle. Thank you again, hopefully weâ ll see you again next year
Stunning and very spacious with everything you need
The beautiful castle was even better than we anticipated. All the bedrooms were very big with really fantastic bathrooms.
This is its first year of renting so there are some things that the owners are continuing to work and improve on. Minor things like door latches etc so nothing to worry about.
It is clear the very charming owners Alice and Guy and their son Edmund care very much about the property and the guests staying there.
I wanted to give it 4.5* as I don't believe it will be long before it will absolutely be deserving of a 5* review. I just hope we are able to go back again one day.
We were there for 2 weeks with a variety of friends and family staying. The beds were extremely comfortable which is always essential in my opinion!
It is situated on a working fruit farm and wine estate which in our opinion added to its charm. The wine shop is about 20m from the kitchen door!
We had 5 kids in each of the 5 bed mezzanine rooms which worked really well. These are also perfect for family rooms. In our opinion the downstairs room is not suitable as a possible single bedroom as this would leave you without a downstairs loo and it wasn't really big enough anyway. It didn't cause us a problem.
We all absolutely recommend this gorgeous place. I really hope we can go back one day.
