Very good location and nice house. Was asked to sign a contract and pay a security deposit, which is unusual, but otherwise a lovely stay and St Aubin-Sur-Mer on sunny, warm days is just a delight.
Absolutely, Stuart! Hereâs a reworded version with a warm, friendly tone while keeping all the key details clear:---A charming house in a fantastic location! The property is full of character, well-furnished, and has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Brigette was incredibly welcoming and stayed in touch to make check-in and check-out smooth and easy. While thereâs no parking directly at the house, free public parking is conveniently located just a couple of minutesâ walk away. One thing to note: a 400 cash deposit is required on arrival, which we hadnât spotted in the property listingâso worth being prepared. All in all, a lovely place to stay and a great base for exploring the area.
The property was as advertised - fully equipped, clean, and spacious.
The host was readily available to greet and welcome us, and couldn't be more accommodating.
It was an excellent stay and I would recommend this property.
We had a wonderful time and this was a perfect location to all the D-Day sites that we wanted to see. The house was great, beds comfortable, and kitchen well stocked. We did have some small communication issues with the owner as our French was limited, but overall, Brigette was very accommodating to all of our needs.
The owner was helpful and the house immaculate. The kitchen was well-equipped. As mentioned in other posts she charges extra for sheets and you need to bring 400 Euro cash deposit-which she returns if everything is in order. We would love to go back! (Be sure to bring your own toilet paper!)
Brigitte's house in St. Aubin-sur-mer is delightful -- conveniently located a short walk from the Juno beach D-day landing site (about 100 meters to the beach) and the boardwalk. The house is large and recently renovated, with some renovations continuing. It was roomy for our 2 couples, with all the amenities one would expect of a nice vacation home, a sunny back yard, plenty of light, and the charm of a traditional Normandy stone building but with modern conveniences. Brigitte is a charming host, friendly and painstaking in assuring that her guests have a good experience. We would recommend her house to any of our friends and acquaintances, and would be happy to stay there again upon any return to Normandy.
Although this was a house of character, it wasn't clean in certain areas. Bedroom top floor. Washing machine soap dispenser had to be cleaned before we could use machine. TV was intermittent. Brigitte was a nice host but communicating in English for her was difficult so not quite living up to the discription on VRBO website.
The house was well equipped with everything you could need, but had its problems. It was well furnished but the chairs in the lounge area were not very comfortable.
The bedrooms had plenty of linen, but we had to make up the beds ourselves. There was no storage for clothing in any of them apart from a small shelf unit in the double bedroom on the top floor. Unfortunately this was filled with the many, unnecessary, cushions from the bed. There is no parking at the house and we had to leave our car in a public carpark s short walk away.
That said, it is in a great location. Very close to the beach and within easy reach of the Operation Overlord sites.
The biggest thing to be aware of is the need to pay a âŹ400 refundable deposit on arrival. The owner does not take credit cards, so we had to accompany her to an ATM to get cash. This means we are left with this cash. This was the only time we used cash on the whole trip, so this is a huge inconvenience. And will probably incur a cost when converting back to sterling. I can find no mention of this deposit anywhere in the many emails from VRBO and really think this should be made clear.
