Cottage géorgien à Harbour Front, avec de magnifiques vues sur la mer

Chalet de style géorgien, confortablement meublées et modernisé mais en conservant son charme et de caractère. Sa situation est l'un des meilleurs dans le village sur le front de mer face à la mer. 2 chambres et la cuisine à manger séparée assis. Le salon avant (voir photo) a une vue magnifique à travers une baie vitrée sur le port et la mer ouverte. Staithes est un village de pêche historique dans le parc national des North York Moors, le repaire des peintres et photographes. Il ya beaucoup de peintures à l'huile originales dans le chalet peinte par la mère de l'actuel propriétaire.
Le chalet était la moitié de la "Shoulder of Mutton" original maison publique. Le village était plein de contrebandiers passages.
Logement
• Grande cuisine bien équipée. Réfrigérateur avec compartiment congélateur. Cuisinière électrique, grille-pain, cafetière filtre, micro-ondes et lave-vaisselle. Hearth avec la gamme traditionnelle et feu électrique. Poutres apparentes, carrelage terre cuite.
• Salon 1: Pine murs lambrissés, parquet en chêne, poutres apparentes, cheminée victorienne avec le feu de charbon effet, TV écran plat, vidéo et DVD. Vue sur la mer.
• Salon 2: "Le Snug" avec une grande baie vitrée donnant sur le port et la mer ouverte. Livres et jeux. Plancher de chêne.
• Chambre 1: king size confortable lit Hypnos, vue sur la mer.
• Chambre 2: lit double et un lit simple, avec vue sur la mer.
• Chambre 3: lit simple.
• Salle de bains: douche électrique dans la baignoire, toilette, prise rasoir bitension et miroir grossissant, sèche-serviettes.
• bas de chauffage: 3 radiateurs électriques de stockage, 2 convecteurs, et 1 charbon effet feu. A l'étage: 1 chauffe de stockage, 2 convecteurs.

Wonderful

The cottage was quirky and perfectly located in the village for us to enjoy the view, go to the beach, go crabbing, walking, relaxing, and just enjoying ourselves!!We didn't want to leave.

Lovely Cottage by the Sea

We loved the quaintness of this Cottage. In a beautiful location and amazing room at the front overlooking the sea. Beds were super comfy!

Excellent, would definitely stay again

The cottage is situation right on the harbour with the front wall actually part of the harbour wall. The view is stunning with a huge floor to ceiling bay window looking out to the ocean. The main bedroom also has a stunning view overlooking the harbour and the one sea front pub in the town. The cottage is neat and clean, generous in size with super comfy clean beds and a good sized bathroom. With full kitchen facilities it really is the perfect cottage to enjoy Staithes from. The cottage has original beams features and an untouched oldy worldy vibe. You can walk to everywhere in town from the front door. The owner is friendly and lovely and really helpful in every way. We can't recommend this property enough and we will be back!

A little gem with beautiful views. We loved all the artwork, trinkets and old features within the cottage. It was so nicely kept and clean but had a very cosy feeling.

Garth End Cottage July 2024

A lovely cottage in a great location. Garth End Cottage was everything we wanted and hoped for - comfortable, well-equipped and well-situated both for walking and relaxing and taking in the sea views and everything else Staithes has to offer. Definitely on our list of places we’d like to stay again.

Another fabulous stay

This was our second stay in this lovely, comfortable cottage with its wonderful views. Everything you need is provided... plus a welcoming bottle of wine,which was a nice touch. Hilary is an excellent host. We will certainly be booking again.

Family holiday with fantastic views

We really enjoyed our stay here! Great price for a great property. The views of the harbour were wonderful and the location itself was exactly what we were looking for. The beds were super comfy and the dishwasher came in very handy :) we would definitely stay here again, thanks so much!

Short stay looking at the sea

A second visit. Staithes is busier now than the winter months but this did not detract from the enjoyment of this interesting town and surroundings. Overlooking the harbour through the picture window is very relaxing

Beautiful setting

Had a lovely stay in Garth end cottage. Staithes and the surrounding area is beautiful and with the benefit of a garage it helped knowing the car was safe overnight! Thank you!

The Best View in the North

Super cottage with the most exceptional views. We felt sorry for everyone else in Staithes! Warm and cosy, comfortable furniture and beds and some of the best walks ever. Splendid stay and looking forward to coming back to Garth End Cottage very soon.

Fantastic location

An amazing location in Staithes, the views across the harbour is perfect from the picture window. (many happy hours were spent watching) The cottage was well equipped and beds comfy. The kitchen had everything you need but to note there is no washing machine. There are 2 great pubs a stones throw away. We had a lovely relaxing week.

Fabulous location

The cottage is right on the harbour so has wonderful views. Is a lovely characterful village. The property could do with some updating especially the bathroom and kitchen which, if nothing else, need a good scrub. Personally I would remove the niknaks as they are just collecting dust. The beds were very comfortable. There is designated car parking but it is on the outskirts of the village up an extremly steep hill so for those with mobility issues this could be a problem.

An excellent place to stay

We arrived at the cottage during a rainstorm, but that only made the cottage seem even more snug and secure. Hilary has gone to great lengths to make her guests comfortable. The cottage is well equipped with everything one would need and the views are wonderful from nearly every window. We were happy to just sit and watch the sea. Staithes is a charming little coastal village. We left our car in the garage at the top of the hill, secure in the knowledge that it was safe. My husband and I had a wonderful, relaxing short break and will definitely return in the future.

The most perfect holiday!

Brilliant family holiday. Lovely cottage in keeping with the area in a great location. Incredible views from the window overlooking the harbour and the main bedroom each morning. Cosy living room and well equipped kitchen with plenty of room for meals together. Kids really enjoyed the rock pooling/fossil hunting at low tide and crabbing from the harbour wall at high tide - the sandy area of beach was also a welcome bonus (all above effectively their garden for the week)! Great pub (the crab and lobster) less than a minutes walk away for family friendly drinks and food and a lovely little shop as close in the other direction selling kids toys/beach equipment etc at really reasonable prices. Deli/cafes/sweet/fudge shop on our doorstep with a fab seafood shop a little further away in the car park and a co-op slightly further up from the car park when we had to drag ourselves back into the real world for basics! Lots of walking opportunities along the Cleveland way - the first holiday in ages we felt we didn’t need the car. All in all an amazing autumn half term week!

Brilliant view of harbour whatever the weather!

Excellent views of the harbour, cosy yet spacious, well equipped kitchen and brilliant location. Armchairs in bay were a little 'laid back' and tricky to get comfortable without loads of pillows. Sun lounger cupboard had evidence of possible mouse damage in the back of one of the chair cushion. We were a bit surprised by an unannounced visit by a man, his wife and their dog to view a leaking tap that someone else had reported. Some notice would have allowed time to clear personal items, cash and wallet etc especially as they let themselves in whilst we were sitting outside on the lower porch area. Their dog was unknowingly and accidentally let out when I visited the kitchen to get more drinks. It appeared on the doorstep outside and then apparently went on into the village! I had no idea it had come from inside! Also alarmed the next day by the window cleaner suddenly washing all the windows whilst my wife was napping. The noise and clatter sounded like someone else was in the house or trying to get in whilst she was alone at that time. Very disconcerting! We have enjoyed most of our time here but sometimes the tranquility and privacy seems to get interrupted and we could have handled it better with more notification or warning. On the whole with the weather being fair to warm and bright it was a great short break.

Hilary is a retired social worker whose parents bought the cottage in 1954. Her mother was a painter and loved the village. Hilary and her husband Chris took over the cottage in 1980 and have totally renovated it.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The village is full of history. It is visually a very beautiful village nestling in the natural harbour made by the Cowbar and the Staithes Beck. The property is spacious and although modernised, retains many of the old features. With its harbourfront position It has some of the best views out to sea in the village.
