Welcome to Casa de la Luz. We are centrally located in Kill Devil Hills & have quick access to both the ocean & sound. We’ve created this two-bedroom upstairs apartment as a place for couples, remote workers, families & friends seeking some quiet space to rejuvenate & unwind. The octagon shape has been a symbolic architectural theme representing regeneration, rebirth & renewal. Come stay with us to relax & unwind in this unique Outer Banks gem ready for you to enjoy & have fun at the beach.

We have provided a private parking space for your convenience and key-less entry. The apartment is located on the second floor with a private entrance and no shared space. Guests will have private access to the apartment and enjoy the privacy of their own space and the large wrap around porch. Inside you’ll discover a spacious setup with comfortable decor, a living room, fully equipped eat-in kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower and bedroom furniture from Indonesia with a king-sized mattress, reading chair and walk-in closet. The guest bedroom has a queen size Tempur-Pedic mattress and one closet for your belongings with a separate bathroom that has a bathtub/shower.

The living area is an open floor plan with lots of space to feel always connected. The living room area offers an awesome French style leather couch & side chair, an Ikea Poäng armchair and ottoman, two end tables, an Italian style work station with an iMac 27in computer and TCL • Roku TV 4K HDR large screen television. Free WiFi and Netflix included.

The kitchen provides all the necessities you will need for your stay, including dining table & chairs, microwave, refrigerator, reverse osmosis drinking water to fill up your water bottles, a Ninja Coffee coffee maker with coffee and tea provided, dishes, glassware, pots & pans, cooking utensils, silverware, and etc.

You’ll love the space inside and out. The deck is a great place in the mornings for yoga and meditation and has a shaded area with a table and four chairs to sit and enjoy the view of the stars at night with your favorite glass of wine. Our place is good for honeymooners, couples, families and friends who are looking for a quiet place to relax and rejuvenate.

Our house has two floors, we live on the first floor and the apartment is located on the second floor with a private entrance and no shared space. Guests will have private access to the apartment and enjoy the privacy of their own space and the large wrap around deck. We are located in a residential area and we ask that you be respectful.

Other things to note
Over the years, we have learned a lot about making our clients feel safe and having the ability to feel at home while staying with us. We are following an enhanced cleaning protocol and will continue to do so.

-This is NOT a "Partyhouse" .. please do NOT book this apartment if you are looking to party.

The apartment is located on the 2nd floor and has private entrance. We live in the downstairs apartment and respect your privacy, but here if you need us.

Gem by the Sea

My friends and I had a wonderful time in Kill Devil Hills. Heather and Tom were wonderful and made our stay even better. They are very responsive and nice to talk to. The house is beautiful, clean, and always smelled of lemongrass. The beach bikes and beach cart were very helpful getting to and from the beach. We plan on coming back next year!

A day early ...

We were able to start our family vacation a day early and we were doubly blessed to have the opportunity to stay the extra night at Heather and Tom's. I am not exaggerating when I say every detail was perfect. We will definitely be staying at the beautiful and peaceful Casa de la luz again. The impressive hospitality made it easy to melt in and feel centered & connected. Many thanks to Tom and Heather. We loved every minute of our short visit and did not want to leave. We highly recommend! '

Heather is from North Carolina and Tom is from northern Italy with an Austrian inheritance. We are travelers who are down to earth and spend a lot of time traveling the world but spend most of our time between the Outer Banks and South East Asia. Heather is an acupuncturist and has worked on the Outer Banks for over 30 years in the service industry. Tom grew up in his family's B&B in the Italian Alps and later worked in 5 Star Resorts in Spain, Greece, and Italy. Between the two of us, we add a lot of personal details and knowledge to our home. The house is an octagon shape and has been a symbolic architectural theme representing regeneration, rebirth, and renewal. So we invite you to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in this unique Outer Banks gem.
