We had a great time. We showed up with our stuff, and everything was ready to go. We were impressed with the number of items in the kitchen that we could use to prep our meals. The place is gigantic inside and out, and the property is beautifully maintained. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are thinking it may be a required revisit next Summer!
We grew up going to our family's Bay house in the Summer and loved it. I wanted a similar experience for when my sister and her family were here in town from Hawaii. This was amazingly perfect. The tree lined gravel driveway was picturesque. The blowing wheat fields in the background of this home were like a painting. The home itself was so well maintained and updated. We had plenty of space and each person could have their own room not allowing for fights with the teens. The kitchen was updated and we enjoyed cooking and eating take out in the spacious area. We played soothing music in the cozy family room while we played cards together. The pool was just the right temperature on a hot sunny day. My morning runs around the property on the trails made the start of my day enjoyable. Nights catching fireflys brought us back to our childhood. The proximity to downtown Chestertown and Rock Hall was great to enjoy shopping and dining out. I will definitely be back!!
The home is really impressive. 200 year old manor house with updates to satisfy the needs of our group of 12. The pool was very nice. Plenty of sleeping, cooking and eating areas.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with our extended family and 91 yo mother. Living spaces were spacious to accommodate all. It is an old house so 3rd floor bedrooms were not meant for tall folk with sloping ceilings. Dining room table extended to seat 14 for all meals. Kitchen has every thing you could need plus plenty of space to have multiple cooks in the kitchen! We sampled some of the âestateâ wine from the vineyard outside and walked the beautiful drive many times to work of our turkey dinner! Would absolutely stay here again The property is beautiful
Perfect property for our annual vacation with all the kids and grand kids! Loved the property and the secluded location - but still close enough to town.
Beautiful, well-kept manor with everything you need. Loved the pool and the spacious grounds! Absolutely gorgeous!
We had the best vacation in this historical beautiful home. Everyone in our family had awesome time. House was very comfortable and clean. Loved the pool area. I only wish they had more shaded area by the pool.
Property manager Mathew was very friendly and helpful in making sure that all our needs were met. Definitely recommend this home. Love to come back.
The Thornton Estate was above and beyond what my family was expecting. A historic home on an amazing piece of land. Dealing with the team that manages the house made the entire process a breeze. We would love to return in the future.
Our group had a great experience staying at Thornton. We had a large group in town for a wedding and it was the perfect place to spend time with friends. The house was gorgeous, the communication with the team was timely and efficient, and everything was clean and well-equipped. Weâd definitely stay here again.
The property is so beautiful with lots of room to spread out both inside and out. The kitchen is well equipped. It was clean. The pool was lovely. And Matt, the property manager, was extremely nice and helpful. Itâs perfect for groups and we will definitely be back!!
Three of us rented this property for a long weekend and it was absolutely magnificent! The property managers were outstanding, we had complete privacy, and the house did not disappoint! We look forward to returning!
We loved this property! We visited with our large family (8 adults and 4 kids ages 3-6) for a long weekend and had a nice and relaxing stay. Very spacious inside, with lots of room to explore outside. Great kitchen, and tons of comfortable seating everywhere. We loved the pool too. Groceries and downtown Chestertown are just a short drive away. We would definitely recommend and return.
We had a family gathering which included several toddlers. All enjoyed the pool, the fire pit, walking the property and eating al fresco. The dormers in the bedroom above the kitchen make it a bit tricky for adults so be careful. Also, shower/bath water temperatures should be warmer. Nonetheless, we leave the property with huge smiles on our faces and hope to return in 2023.
Our family gets together every summer for a week of lengthy meals, games, and time together. We haven't been able to do that since the summer of 2019. This was a lovely place. All of us had a marvelous time. Thank you!
Our stay was very comfortable and easy. House is beautiful and had everything we needed. We're already looking at coming back in the Summer when we can take advantage of the pool!
The house, property, and amenities were better than expected! My group and I were amazed by the property and loved that the house has such interesting history. The marketing manager, Sarah, was super helpful and quick to respond to my messages. I met the groundskeeper upon arriving and he was helpful as well. Perfect for our Girls Weekend but I would also recommend staying at Thornton Estate for a family staycation. It's great for all ages!
Our stay here was perfect! The check in process was easy and the house was beautiful. I felt privileged to stay in the ownersâ family estate.
We were in the area for a family wedding so it was a perfect place to stay with my daughters and their families. We spent so many hours in the swimming pool. Everyone loved their bedroom and bathroom accommodations. We had a great time playing games in the family room or sitting on the screened in porch. It was very clean and lots of rooms to spread out in when youâre traveling with a group.
This property is truly great. Has everything you need, space, quiet, and a pool! Everything is in great condition in this unique historical house. Canât wait to book it again.
