This was our 2nd year staying here and we loved it just as much as the first. Such a convenient location to everything and with a feeling of home. Can't wait until next time...
This was a very nice and cozy rental in a great location not far from the beach. Wanderful place to relax after a full day on the beach with the kids and family. I will keep this little gem in my mind for future stays.
Fantastic location with easy access to all the restaurants nearby and the beach! Host was courteous and easy to get a hold of with any questions and issues. Will stay again when in the area!
The grandparents brought their grands to the beach for a week. The accommodations were perfect! We had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The outside shower area was well used, as was the washer and dryer. All amenities were wonderful. Local dining was also great. The half-mile walk to and from the beach was convenient and the neighborhood was quiet. We very much enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this relaxed area of the community.
We enjoyed our stay! The location is great! It may be a little old and needs some maintenance but one can tell that itâs filled with memories and love of the owners, which gives you a âhomeâ feel rather than a rental. Thank you for hosting us Mike!
We booked a two-night stay at Oak Island and found a real gem. This 3 bedroom home is located near everything you want at the beach! It is clean, very comfortable, great AC, close to numerous beach access points and fun restaurants. We recommend this VRBO home with enthusiasm and can tell you from experience that you will enjoy your stay here!
Everything was nice, but the TV. that is the pits when the weather is too cold to be at the beach and you can't even watch the news. NO basic cable. Other than that it was very nice.
Me and my friends had such an amazing time at Oak Island. The house was so cozy and comfortable and we didnât have to go out for any toilet paper, towels, beach equipment, etc., because it was all provided! Mike is super great and kept in touch leading up to the stay, during, and after. I would definitely stay here again!
We had a little trouble checking in but later the property manager solved our problem. We had a wonderful time, the house is great, has everything you need, and is in a nice neighborhood.
Overall the house wasn't terrible but lots of room for improvement. The neighborhood was quiet and had a mix of nicer and rundown homes. The house itself wasn't very clean, especially for anyone with a more detailed eye. Old hats and shoes on a rack as we walked into the house may make it feel homy but they are not needed and take away from the cleanliness factor. Older furniture not terrible but could use updating. We only used the master bedroom, but we had to wash the bed sheets as they had hair on them when we pulled the covers back. The mattress itself was comfortable to sleep on but when we took the sheets off, there are a bunch of stains on the mattress. Not fresh stains but still an issue, especially for those with a more critical eye, or those with phobias. We loved Oak Island though, and would come back, just not to this place
We love to host people and we love the beach! We have always taken our kids on beach vacations and Oak Island is one we've kept coming back to. It's a place where we can recharge from our very busy lives. It's amazing what a day on the beach can do for one's perspectives on just about everything. That's why we always come back to the beauty, the surf and sunshine. We hope you enjoy your experience as much as we have.
It's new, clean, large for a family, fairly inexpensive and right near the beach. Get your groceries from the Food Lion (don't worry about bringing a cooler full of stuff from home!). Great seafood at the local restaurants or buy some from the local fish outlet and cook it on the outdoor grill in the back yard. Close to the beach enough to take a short walk. See the turtles hatch in August!
We are a walk to the beach and a walk to the waterway. The beach is visible from the road and a great location (74th st Access area) with parking. We throw our chairs in the truck or car and in 3 blocks we are there. If you bring a boat just take it down to the public landing on 55th St and head out for a spin or sail on the waterway or even out to the ocean. Rentals are everywhere. Great restaurants nearby.
Get your own food from Food Lion less than a mile down the road! Bring your bikes - super place for a morning ride and no traffic. Mornings on the porch are delightful - bring your coffee and a good book. Visit Southport town in the evening - beautiful quaint old town with great restaurants and seafood - try Provisions or theFrying Pan for some great crab cakes!
Want to do some skydiving? Just a couple of miles up the road there's a small airport that specializes in them.
