the Pink Gem was very nicely decorated but we had several issues with missing light bulbs (back room closest, master bathroom, dining room) no replacement bulbs or batteries for the battery-operated candle provided. The lamp in main room was unusable due to a broken turn on switch. unable to use Master bath shower or tub due to lack of privacy and mold issues. No blinds or window treatment on window in direct view of neighbors. Tub and chips and rust in it and the floor mat was covered in mold as well as the wall had black mold directly in sight. This is an extreme safety issue. Very disappointing. small back deck had no railings around it or to help get up the steps - again safety issue. None of the beds had a box spring so they were extremely noisy. Paying over 200 for cleaning but finding mold and missing lightbulbs is disappointing. Again, very cute but not safe or practical
This house was such a lovely place (the photos provided are accurate) but sitting outside was something no one wanted to do because it fronts Highway 1, which is a very busy road. We were there during the week in the middle of September so I was a little surprised how much traffic there was, both day and night. The house was so well insulated that you didnât hear the traffic noise if you were inside, so we were mostly inside and out sightseeing. The rate is so reasonable for a 3 bedroom/2 bath house and we had so many things to see and do in the area that we were fine with it being so close to Highway 1. Other than that, the house is awesome. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen, dining room, and living room were nicely decorated and very comfortable. There are also plenty of windows for viewing and there is plenty of room for parking.
Outside of a communication glitch because we changed our arrival date, all went well. Small problem, but handled well..! The location was right across the road from the beach, and 1/2 hour walk into the town.
This was the 4th time my family, and I stayed at the Pink Gem, and it was just as wonderful as the first time. We just love the location! It is so nice to sit and enjoy the ocean views with a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at the end of the day. I have recommended this place to others!
My husband, my in-laws and I had the BEST visit to the pink house! Loved how close it was to the cute Cayucos downtown area. We stayed for a wedding that was in SLO and it was a quick, easy drive there. The price was fair and the house had more space than we expected from the photos. We'll definitely be back!
Love this place, it was amazing. Very beautiful and quiet. The first bedroom may need a darker shade. The neighbors porch light stayed on until late hours and it shined right into the room. I like a dark room so it was tough to fall asleep quickly. Nothing that a curtain couldnât fix.
Itâs a very cozy and comfortable home. The house bedrooms are well furnished. The kitchen has all the needed appliances. It would be nice to have stainless steel vessels for cooking as the nonstick are not well cared for by guests. Overall an excellent place to spend 4 days.
Enjoyed our stay immensely - fit our desires perfectly! Incredible ocean views from the deck and all the front rooms, nice touches like coordinated dish and glassware, antique furniture and decor (too fancy for little ones), fully stocked bathrooms and kitchen, quiet and comfy bedrooms - I could go on and on!
Has possibilities. Several maintenance issues. Living room hadnât been vacuumed, dust/dirt on floors. Beds were fine. Vintage look fine but less vases/urns would be better. Kitchen nicely equipped. Driveway definitely needs attention. Towel holder, toilet paper holder, need securing. Little things mean a lot!
We felt welcomed the minute we walked through the door. It is an adorable cottage that was cozy, clean & with vintage furnishings & modern kitchen & bathrooms. Communication with the owner was great. Would absolutely stay here again in beautiful Cayucos.
My wife and I met at Cal Poly Sate University in San Luis Obispo and started our family in the small town of Templeton. I own an architectural drafting company and my wife is a homemaker. We have four wonderful children. We both enjoy the outdoors, camping, hiking, and traveling abroad.
This specific property kind of fell into our lap. We actually purchased another property in the immediate vicinity and were afraid that if another party bought it, it would block the views from our other property, so we bought it as well. The home was in pretty rough condition but my wife has vision. With months of interior remolding, fresh paint and new decor, we have created the "Pink" gem.
The unique benefits of this home are the amazing views and the proximity to the beach and downtown. The layout of the home offers ocean views from every room. Most of the decor is thoughtfully placed and creates an elegant yet relaxing atmosphere.
