A great experience for us. Enjoyed the stay. Had a few questions, host answered very quickly. Would stay again. Our trip was about golfing, hiking and antique shopping. A lot of options in the area.
Very Muskie. Need larger dehumidifiers. Had to empty several times. Did help alittle but had they been on more before we got there it would help. A/c did not work at all. Was freezing up at the a/c unit outside. Inside temp never got cooler than 77. Was hot and muggie. Not the best sleeping conditions for those upstairs.
The description was accuratr and we enjoyed out stay. However, the interior and exterior needs a depp cleaning. Outside, cob webs were everywhere and the furniture was caked in pollen. Its exterior so I would expect some of each (especially pollen during the timing of our stay), but these looked like they had been building up for some time. Inside, especially the upstairs was musty. A ceiling tile in the laundry looks like it is about to fall.
The property definitely has potential: great location, nice pond with fish to catch. We knew to expect highway noise based on other reviews & did not mind as we all sleep with white noise. But the listing definitely is outdated in the pictures it has. As for issues we had, similarly to another more recent review, the AC unit froze up on us, but thankfully the weather was great & it was toward the end of the stay. We did communicate with the owner about it, & they stated they are working to get that issue fixed. The biggest issue we had were the bugs. I can understand that due to the location & the amount of trees & water around the house there will be some bugs. We planned for mosquitoes & other bugs but the house was pretty much infested with spiders--inside & out. Upon the first walk through there were spiderwebs EVERYWHERE, including around the beds, the toilets, & the showers. The downstairs master bathtub had at least a dozen spiders living in it. The porches were practically unusable due to the amount of spiders on the decks, chairs, & even the overhead covers. Again, some is due to the location, but it didn't look like any major pest control has been done in a while. There was a paddle boat and kayak as advertised but both were full of dirty water and bugs that we had to clean out in order to use. Downstairs also had storage stuff in the open (extra TP, sheets, cleaner etc) instead of in a closet or stored elsewhere.Overall it wasn't a bad stay, just some issues!
Great place. It was relaxing and quiet.
Cottage was nice and very peaceful. It's perfect for our stay and located in a great spot. Asheville downtown is about 30 min away from the cottage.
Beautiful pond, kids enjoyed fishing and boat ride.
Ashley is very kind and helpful.
We had a great experience and enjoyed the trip.
We enjoyed the property very much. Our dog had plenty of yard to run around. Fishing the pond and using the paddle boat was fun. Blue Ridge parkway just a short drive away. Definitelyrecommend!
Had a wonderful time at the cottage. Close to the Pisgah National Park, we climbed the Fryingpan Mountain Lookout Tower and were able to visit some local breweri

Property description not accurate
The pictures of the property online were outdated. Pond not private, other houses around the water. Property also sits on main highway with a lot of road noise. Description online of property also includes âcook what you catchâ; upon arrival rules left for review in home stated âcatch and release onlyâ. Pond was also overfished and not fully stocked as described.
If the AC had been working the first night of our stay, my review probably would have been five stars. Alas, when we arrived, the AC wasn't putting out any cold air (we think because someone had put the AC on 60 and the unit may have "frozen"). We had to leave the AC off for that first afternoon and evening, opening up the windows in order to be more comfortable, and because we had the windows open, we were then able to hear the nearby highway noise more easily. We hadn't realized this property is so close to a 4-lane highway (Rt. 280). We thought the traffic would lessen at night, and it did, but there were still trucks going by that woke us up all during that first night. The second day and evening of our visit, the AC was working fine. Due to the AC not working, that first night, there was a really bad musty smell in the upper-floor bedroom. However, we kept the glass doors to that bedroom shut and that lessened the musty odor. Once the AC was working again, that greatly reduced the musty odor of the upstairs bedroom, so much, in fact, that we probably wouldn't have noticed it had the AC been working the day we arrived.
Peaceful cottage with a beautiful view close to Brevard
My husband and I enjoyed 9 days in this wonderful lake house. It is conveniently located between Asheville and Brevard, right off the highway. Brevard Music Festival, the airport and Hendersonville are all less than a 1/2 hour drive away.
The main suite is downstairs (where you come in from the back.) There is a back porch that overlooks a pond from this room. The bath on this level is very nice with a shower (including a hand-held wand) & a separate jacuzzi tub. The laundry room is also on this level. The bed is very comfortable and there are plenty of extra blankets in the closet. A tv, desk, table & sofa are also on this level (no minifridge).
Upstairs is a living room, kitchen, bathroom (tub/shower) and the second bedroom. There are two stairways - one inside another outside. The kitchen has a full size fridge, stove, oven and microwave as well as cooking/servingware. There are coffee makers and tvs on both levels.
Outside the front door upstairs, is a huge partially covered deck. Ceiling fans keep the air moving and the nice outdoor furniture is wonderful for dining. There is a new gas grill and access to the lake which this level overlooks. The mountains in the background make this view 2nd to none.
We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the weather, the view and the quiet - a much needed rest.
We saw white squirrels, geese, a groundhog and lots of birds at this location.
There is a kayak and a paddle boat on the dock for guest use (so nice!) Enjoyed it!
Fishing was fun. My 9 year old granddaughter and I competed to see who would catch the most. When all was over, we tied at 41 fish each. No big ones, but enough to keep us busy. We only used the kitchen for making breakfast a couple of times, but it was equipped well enough for preparing other meals. I personally wish we had taken advantage of the grill on the back porch, but the family wanted to eat out. It was also nice to have the family pet along. The cottage is located in an easily accessible location, right off hwy 280. Fun things to do can be found near by, Hendersonville, slidingrock, Sky Top Apple Orchard, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, etc. There were nine of us and we all had a good time.. a Good Time Had by All.
The property was very clean. The views were amazing. Sadly I did not catch any trout, but that was because as soon as my bait hit the water I caught a bass or bream.
My son and I were in town for a baseball camp. We did baseball in the morning, and fished the rest of the day. We caught 68 fish in 3 days :)
Great memories
This place was a great place to go for a guys trip. We were able to fish, relax, and drove into Asheville to catch a baseball game. Everything was as advertised and we had no issues. Would definitely stay here again.
Although close to a main thoroughfare, which did not effect us at all. It was quiet, clean and a very nice sized property to enjoy, including a lake and pond for fishing with boats to utilize on the lake. It has a nice deck overlooking the lake to enjoy with friends and family. There's a grill, outdoor games, and is an all around nice place to gather. I will be looking into this property again for future family get togethers.
This house was perfect for our friend group especially with the pond for the guys to fish in and to keep them entertained. It was near everywhere we wanted to go too. Will for sure book this house again!
Our little cottage was once part of a operating grits mill. The house was used for living space upstairs and the bottom level was the store where the grits were sold. There use to be a large water wheel just to the right of the house. We obtained the property back in 2007 and we loved the history and the "rustic" feel it provides. We try to keep it as original as possible but with a few upgrades and updates here and there.
