It was a wonderful place to stay nestled in the woods. We had a family from Berlin, Germany staying with my husband.and I! The children ages 9,11, and 14, We had access to the lake and water park across the street so that was a bonus! I do have a complaint about the kitchen, no paper towels, no dishcloths (the dishwasher was broken) and only 2 wine glasses! Also, there was a bit of coffee for us but you should have a Keurig coffee maker as well! We brought Keurig pods with us, and/or a bigger coffee maker. The kids werenât able to use tv or play a movie, not sure why! It also was very cold and we couldnât control the air conditioner! Two adults and 3 children stayed upstairs and there were only 3 towels! Other than that a lovely location!
When we checked in property wasn't ready. THE property is owned by Days Inn, very unsanitary, smelled of mold, had to go to Walmart to buy many supplies for our stay. Location is odd by laundry facilities. Quiet location but wouldnt recommend. The waterpark is freezing n in disrepair-very filthy.
Such a fun stay and an amazing location for those not wanting neighbors and a short trip into the city. Great for bigger groups and loved we had access to the water park.
Same story as several other lower ratings. House was tricky to find and not clean or ready for us when we arrived. Host was not apologetic or friendly about sending a team to clean the house. No wifi or television channels, but dvd player worked so plan accordingly. Definitely wouldnât be my first choice to stay again and certainly not worth the price - but the house was spacious and relatively comfortable so it did trick for our short trip.
Overall the house was large and accommodated a large party. It is in a strange location and general upkeep on the home was very lacking for the price you pay. Was a very nice home at one point, but had numerous problems related to upkeep (leaking faucets, broken dishwasher, overgrown landscaping, broken doors, broken tiling around shower). None of these were very detrimental to our stay but the general feeling was it is managed by employees of the Days Inn and they clean well, but likely don't perform the maintenance that is needed to upkeep a home. Location was strange - likely Days Inn bought the home and put in an industrial laundry facility next to it. Have to drive through the laundry facility to get to the home. Other than some difficulty going around cars that are parked in the pathway to the home, once you pass the facility, the site was quiet and wooded and you are not able to see the facility and no noise at night was noted. It is just a bit strange. Overall it was okay, but likely will not stay here again.
Jodi is a joke. She refused to give ANY refund. I tried to cancel 4 days before reservation date. Terrible reply time. When the reservation day came, she didn't send information until I requested it several hours after the check in time. She kept saying "enjoy your stay" even though I told her we were NOT staying. She kept over 1,700 for a two night stay, including the cleaning fee. Go find a hotel or a cabin instead.
The property is nice, clean, and secluded. There were no salt and pepper, no spices, and no knives for dicing. Though itâs a house, youâll need to bring things you typically wouldnât. The check in process should be much easier than going to a hotel and picking up the key. Start with getting WiFi to the place and using a ring camera door bell as well as a key lock pad for easy check in. It was a good experience. But a one and done.
The rental was a disappointment. First off, the key has to be picked up from a hotel, why not install a lock with a push button code? Because someone has to EXPLAIN how to find the house which is situated at the end of some wonky dirt road near some giant city laundry, and even WITH the explanation, itâs hard to find. Then the AC didnât work and the place was hot and stuffy. When an email was sent, no response. The next morning a partial refund was requested due to the nonfunctional AC unit. Only then was there a quick response saying no refund. Iâm filing a complaint. Plus I personally donât think Jodi is a real person but that the place is rented by some company. Donât stay here.
I'm regretful to say that this was the worst property I've ever stayed at :( My 48 hours in Mackinaw for a family vacation were often interrupted by me trying to get ahold of the host, or finding some new deficiency with the home.No place is perfect, but the owner was nearly unreachable, multiple questions over the VRBO app, text messages, and 3 phone calls were returned about every 18 hours with no empathy or apologies. Issues:- Checked in 15 minutes late as the property wasn't ready for us- No wifi- No laundry detergent - No dishwasher detergent- 1 bathroom didn't have any toilet paper, and no additional supply on hand- a broken office chair- leaking kitchen sink- a towel rack that'd fall at the slightest touch- wear and tear throughout the house
Beautiful home, but very neglected. What a shame, you can tell at one time this was a very nice home, but looks very neglected in recent times. Beautiful location, but awful trying to get to it. It needs a dedicated drive and not share with the laundry facility.
We loved the house. It was very clean and roomy. This house was built to be lived in. What a great location for a day visit to Macinaw Island or bridge access and northern Michigan. Some highlights: Red Tail Fox in back yard, Extra cedar sun room ( favorite morning coffee place), very comfortable beds and furnishings, Very Very clean, Fire pit with lots of outdoor seating, full kitchen, terrific master bedroom with spa tub and big walk-in showers. Easy to check-in, out and to find. As they say, bring your own entertainment and hot spot. WiFi in the area was good.
I never would have booked this if the 1 and 2 star reviews had been available. Shame on you VRBO ( ill be using your competitor from now on) ! Iâve never given a bad review and I book quite a bit, but here goes. You get the key at the Days (should have been a clue to the quality) we got terrible directions and went back. The clerk called someone else who was very snippy. We tried again and by driving through woods past dark warehouses in a place that at night did not seem to be a road, we got there. I would say it was Days inn clean, but there was NOTHING. else. TV in every room and NONE OF THEM worked. (Guys would have like to watch bball and it was raining so outdoor activities were out) And NO WI-FI! Kitchen was stocked terribly! Pans I wouldnât even put in a garage sale. A 5-cup coffee pot ( probably from the Days Inn). Plates and cups ok, but no glasses and cutlery was really janky. Overall â felt like I stayed at a broke down Days Inn at Four Seasons price.
The write up on this house and pictures are deceiving. The house is not new. It is located in a warehouse area off a main road and very difficult to find. The furniture in the photos have mostly been replaced with older, worn furniture. The bed coverings are in accurate as well. The kitchen is minimally stocked. There werenât even kitchen towels to wash and dry dishes. We had to air out the house upon entering because of the strong cleaning product smell. There were no instructions upon arrival or departure. The only communication from the host was to pick and drop off the keys from the Days Inn. The road in front of the house was under construction and very loud when we arrived. They worked until about 8 pm. The host neglected to mention this in our communication prior to arrival.FinallyâŠI sent a not to the host with most of this sane feedback. I did not receive a response. I do not recommend this home.
Do not rent. The house looks nothing like the pictures posted. Was a decent place to stay, but issues with the overall process. When we showed up, which was very late (11pm), there was no hot water or heat. Luckily the property manager sent someone over asap. He got the hot water working, but we had to sleep with no heat on. It was below 40 degrees outside. By the next day, the heat was fixed. WiFi is listed, but there is no router in the home and signal can be spotty. It was a decent place to rest, but I wouldnât stay again.
Les points faibles : Communication et emplacement
Horrible location and literally no amenities
House smelled musty, heat stopped working, furniture is not comfortable, no internet, no TV service, no hot water at first either. House is located next to the industrial cleaning facility that does all the laundry for the hotels. It is secluded, which is nice, and right near downtown Mackinaw City.
This house is located off a road that appears to be owned by a hotel. The house is directly next to warehouses and some type of linen cleaning facility. This house will not allow you to feel like your on vacation.
The house was secluded so that was a huge plus. Plenty of parking as well if you have multiple cars. Communication with host was lacking until the week of the stay. That aside, very nice stay.
First of all getting the key to the property was confusing. Second finding the property. The property was not very clean and HAD NO WORKING TV's
It was so bad, we left after the first night and lost payment for the second night. would not recommend this place at all.
When we checked in there was not a clear direction of where property
Was located. It is located at the end of a driveway at a laundry cleaning facility.
Upon finding the house the landscaping was over grown, the house on the outside was very dirty and full of moss.
There was no toilet paper at the house, no bar soap or hand soap of any kind , no dishwashing soap.
There were several TVs but non had batteries in the remotes, the only tv available was a 1- dvd player in the living room. They claim there is an antenna but there was no signal on any tvs.
We called to get internet password several times and left messages, the host never returned our calls.
The garbage disposal was seized up, and did not work.
there was no direction on what to do with garbage and no instructions on what the check process was.
These things to most would basic needs, I understand things happen but with no response from the host from Saturday morning till Wednesday morning is unacceptable to me and leaves a very bad feeling about returning.
The house itself was very nice. Outside needs some work. Shrubs and plants surrounding the house are all overgrown. The kitchen is very poorly stocked. Only a couple pots and pans, no dish soap or dishwasher soap, no spices or seasonings for cooking. Also no kitchen knives. Made it very hard to cook meals. None of the antennae TVs worked. Communication was nonexistent. Never heard from the host on checking in until the afternoon before arrival and then it was just an email stating where we could pick up the key. No check in or check out instructions. Very hard to find the house. You have to drive through by a commercial laundry to find the house. It isn't seen from the highway and there is no house number sign by the highway. Won't be staying here again
