We were there for a family wedding. The house was in a good location, great gathering space for a large family. The deck could use a little help. The owner was very responsive.
We came to Charlotte for a family reunion and I wanted my family all in one house. This house was perfect for just that reason. Lots of off street parking. Plenty of room and the bedrooms where great. For every two bedrooms you shared a bathroom. Big kitchen with lots of gadgets. Two refrigerators helped too. If ever going back again this would be the best place to stay!
We are group of over 50 folks who met through a Facebook group 5 years and this was our last meet & greet. We had a wonderful time and the home was great! We missed not having a grill, but we made do. I wish we had more time in the house but some of us still had jobs to return to. The host was quick to respond to our inquires. .
This was a great room set up for our family get together with ample parking. The location was central as well. I would recommend this place.
Figuring out what switch worked what light was a bit of a chore. Owner responded quickly to our questions.
Perfect location, close to everything, house was excellent for our large group.
Plenty of room for all our family to spend time together and still have a bit privacy. Everything was taken care of, we just walked in. Had a family wedding, was 100 times better than separate hotel rooms! Host was wonderful.
This home was exactly what we needed for a big group of friends in town for a wedding celebration! It was close to great food, coffee, and breweries. Also has plenty of space to hang out together at home. We never felt cramped while getting ready for the party. Would stay again!
This listing was great for my group. The house is a very quick drive to lots of great food and bar areas in Charlotte, it had TONS of room and was exactly like the listing posted. Patrick responded to messages quickly. I would recommend staying here.
We rented this house for 12 of our friends and family to stay. We were able to be together or spread out by ourselves. Great location. We had a great time
House was a great size for my large family that was in town for a wedding. Everyone had their own room and plenty of bathrooms. Beds were very comfortable and there was a lot of space to hang out in the common area. The house was located in a great location to walk to get, coffee, dinner and the local park. We did wish there was more seating in the living room area for everyone to sit.
This property fit out needs for our large family to celebrate Christmas - Patrick even had a beautiful tree up and decorated for us to put gifts under. The property has great space and a well stocked kitchen however a few minor updates would make this house a full 5 starts - with that said, it would NOT stop us from staying again.
House is wonderful! We were a large group of family and friends, in Charlotte for a wedding. The house is REALLY well provisioned. The layout lends itself beautifully for both privacy when desired and areas for a large group to congregate. The host was easy to reach and accommodating, overall communication was excellent throughout both the booking process and our stay.
I'd highly recommend!!
Perfect spot for extended family to gather. The bedrooms and baths are identical so everyone had equal rooms. 4 ground level and 4 up stairs, so we could still have our privacy as a family. Basement playroom was a hit with the kids and teens as was the outdoor basketball hoop! Kitchen was pretty well stocked except we needed extra forks, a working can opener and bagged ice.
Location is across from a power plant, but the back deck is lovely and we took family photos back there.
Property owner was very accessible. All around great stay.
So many positive things about this house. We had a group of 8 women staying here for a conference and it was perfect because everyone had their own bedroom and split a bathroom. There is also plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the space. The reason I don't give it a 5 star is it just needs some extra touches to make it more comfortable. We had a hard time regulating the temperature. Some of us were cold, but if we turned up the house temperature then some were too hot. There were no extra blankets in the house to fix this situation. The bathroom towels and kitchen towels definitely need replaced as they are very worn. With some TLC it would be a 5 Star.
Home was well suited for large families or two families as there was a downstairs 'suite' of rooms and an upstairs 'suite' of rooms with jack-and-jill bathrooms between each set up bedrooms. Layout was wonderful and the location to downtown Charlotte was ideal! There was only a few negatives and that concerned the size of the kitchen pots and pans. With a home being that large, the size pots in the kitchen should accommodate for a larger crowd of people. As there can be up to 16 people (2 in each room). Unfortunately the size pots in the kitchen were much smaller making cooking for a larger crowd harder. So although the kitchen was remodeled and in wonderful shape, the cookware size was not in proportion to the number of rooms. Regardless, the layout of the home really accommodated for family/group interaction due to a large living-room area. Thank you for a wonderful stay at your home! Most ideal and very centrally located!
Host: Patrick was awesome. He is very responsive, not that we needed anything during our stay since everything was provided. The abundance of sheets and towels and cleaning supplies was a definite plus for us.
Check-In: very quick and easy.
Bathrooms: Some of the locks for the bathroom were not working. This is needed for privacy since you must share. There were no rugs, just like a hotel where you must put a towel on the floor. The shower curtains were old and moldy. They were very spacious for bathrooms that you have to share, and the double sinks were another plus.
Bedrooms: Some of the beds were uncomfortable due to the mattress and bed being old and outdated. The vanity for the clothes garment pole was broken in some of the bedrooms. There were NO TVs in the bedrooms. This was not a problem for us because we spent our time either in the living room, kitchen, and/or the porch.
Living/Dining room: The couch was uncomfortable. For the size of the living room, there should have been a better living room set for the guests to lounge in instead of sitting by the dining room table.
Overall: The area was quiet and nice. The upgrades to the floor, kitchen, and walls were very beautiful. The bedrooms and other spaces were very spacious. My family had room to move around without feeling cramped. Starbucks is .3 miles down the road, which was very convenient. It served our purpose, and we had a great stay.
I do not typically leave negative reviews, but believe the past reviews I read did not reflect our experience.
On the positive side, the house was a great size for our family and Dilworth is a great neighborhood in Charlotte.
First, the house was not clean. We found empty plastic bottles under the furniture, sheets stained in the bedrooms, and some unrecognizable food left in the oven which may have been their for some time based on the smell and appearance. The refrigerator and freezer were not clean with multiple broken shelves. We spent our first night and early next morning cleaning and washing the sheet for 7 of the 8 bedrooms.
Some other items not in the reviews. Although in Dilworth, the house sits across the street from Duke Energy's largest electrical substation in the metro area. Two abandoned cars sit adjacent to the house on Kenilworth Ave, and the yard/deck are unkept.
The host was responsive when we reached out on Friday night. However, instead of getting the place cleaned, the answer was for us to take pictures and they offered to reimburse for nights not used. However, we were unable to find another property for our family that was immediately available.
For many of us, this is a lot of money to spend. A higher standard should be expected and some transparency in the description and reviews which fell short.
The house was perfect for our large party in town for a wedding. Plenty of room inside and outside. Close to several grocery stores and restaurants. 15 minutes to uptown Charlotte. House was well stocked with linens and towels. Recommend this house for large groups.
Hi there! I am a Midwest transplant who moved to Charlotte about 5 years ago. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking and camping, theater, exploring the local brewery scene, grilling out and being involved in my Church.
My wife Sarah and I have multiple vacation rentals throughout Charlotte and love creating great experiences for guests and look forward to hosting your group.
We purchased this home from a Church who was using it as Woman's Shelter at the time but had previously been an office building. It needed a lot of work but we were up to the task (with our contractor)! We gutted the majority of the home, removed walls, replaced HVAC and finished the basement. It is such a unique home because it is setup perfectly for vacation rentals with 8 bedrooms and plenty of space for groups to gather.
