My husband, daughter and I rented this home for our visit to the Round Top Antique show. The drive to Round Top was a 40-45 minute drive through some beautiful countryside. The property itself was secluded and peaceful and the home was so comfortable! Sitting on the back porch watching the rain and enjoying the welcoming bottle of wine was the perfect start to our trip. Tom, the host, was great in communicating with us from the moment we made our reservation to checkout. We definitely hope we have the opportunity to return!
I recently had the most wonderful stay at The Twisted Elm. This place is truly a haven for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. Tom was incredibly welcoming and attentive, his passion for sharing this beautiful slice of nature is evident in every aspect of the experience. I cannot wait to return!
I wanted a relaxing birthday weekend to celebrate my 40th with my husband and friends. This was everything I wanted and more! The house was beautifully decorated and I was surprised multiple times at the small details that made it feel like home. The beds are very comfortable and huge. We spent most of our time outside on the deck or on the dock. Let me tell you-- the hot tub at sunset and watching the colors reflect off the pond is breathtaking. The host was very friendly and kept communication open. Everything was so smooth and easy with check in and out. Thank you again for opening your home and allowing us to make memories. PS: The wine was fantastic! Thank you for the birthday gift!
The property was absolutely beautiful. Peaceful and quiet. The pond is beautiful and the fish were fun to watch come up and eat. The house was decorated to the T. It was spacious and the amenities were to perfection.
We absolutely loved our stay here and the house had everything we needed. It was so nice to sit out back and watch the fireflies while listening to the frogs sing. We didn't want to leave!
This is the epitome of peace and quiet. The property is amazing and beautiful. If you are looking to just getaway and relax, you will not be disappointed! The pond for fishing or sitting in the hot tub is perfect to to just detach with the world. I would definitely stay again and recommend for anyone.
This place was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, peaceful, with plenty of nature around. We enjoyed taking long walks around the property with the dogs, building a fire, hot tub, and dinner on the patio during sunset! We also visited a local blacksmith and made really cool knives and did âtomahawk throwing.â 10/10 would stay again
This place met or exceeded all our expectations. Communications with the owner before and during the stay were great. Used the Kitchen, laundry, hot tub and fishing pond. All were very good. Close to both Sealy and Belleville with good food options and grocery stores. Restful sleep and near many places to visit. Would highly recommend. Thanks for a great week Tom.
Everything was great. The pond was full of fish and the guys had a ball! The location was fantastic, very peaceful.
The house was furnished with everything you could possibly need. Mr. Tom was a great host. We arrived at the perfect time to see the bluebonnets. Hope to go back soon!
We had an absolute great time at Twisted Elm Ranch. The outdoor is fantastic, so much to enjoy: the hot tub, the pond for kayaking and fishing, the grill, the fire pit for sâmores ! We had a lovely time outside despite the already warm temperatures. This is a very cosy place, perfect for chilling out. Tom was super helpful.
We had a great visit at this property! Loved the fishing, the hot tub, the expansive grounds, and the pet-friendly booking. The primary bed was really comfortable, the oven and stove worked great, and the fireplace was a MUST in the chilly weather. Only issues: the grill did not work and the place did not have the best circulation; bedroom really hot while living/kitchen not so much. Overall, this was a wonderful retreat for our little family. Hope to go hack to catch the kayaking and spend some more time outdoors!
We spent a long weekend at Twisted Elm with our adult children and little grandson and had a delightful time. The house had everything we needed -- three comfortable bedrooms and a roomy living area plus a large deck in the back. From watching the sunrise on the front porch to finding turtles and fish in the pond, it was a relaxing time. The property is quiet and peaceful, a pleasant getaway from the city. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, though there are also some good restaurants in Bellville.
Tom is an excellent host and was quick to respond to any questions. I highly recommend Twisted Elm.
The house and property are lovely. It was overcast and drizzly most of our stay, but we (me, my mom, and sister) had a wonderful time just hanging out, watching movies, and sitting on the front and back porch just enjoying the peace. We did get to see some deer...and antelope across the road. Oh...2 zebras! :) Tom is really kind and a very responsive host. Truly grateful he shares this little slice of heaven with others. We will absolutely stay here again if we have the opportunity.
Our girls group planned a trip for the fall RoundTop antiques show and stayed here for three nights. The pictures did not disappoint because the house was everything and more as described. Lots of everyday useful items and a lot of unexpected.
This area is hill country and is very beautiful without all of the light pollution of the city. There are multiple exotic animal ranches in the area and one even right across from the house!
Tom kept in touch with us during our stay and was only a text away when we needed something.
We were all very pleased with our stay and would highly recommend visiting this property.
The house was big enough to share with other family members, and the open concept dining room and living room allowed us to all hang out together inside. It was the outdoor space that really made this place ideal. Both adults and children enjoyed the fishing. The kids were running around the huge yard, rolling down the hills, and chasing butterflies. With the 2 grills we were able to cook out multiple times. The hot tub was clean, and the fire pit was fun too. The part of the family staying in the area would have like to have extended their stay, and we are all looking at making this our regular place to stay in the area.
Twisted Elm was the perfect house for our vacation. Came in for the Antique Show, but also took advantage of visiting the small towns. The house was spacious enough for 5 adults to spread out. We all enjoyed the sounds of nature and a surprise visit from 2 armadillos! The fisherman in the group was able to fish in the pond so he was super stoked about that. We also took advantage of having our morning coffee on the back porch while we discussed what we wanted to do for the day. The house was well stocked with everything we needed from pots and pans, my favorite type of coffee shaped mugs, to q-tips in the bathrooms. The beds were super comfortable and the host was very responsive. We will definitely return!
This house is amazing. We were looking for a place to getaway, not too far from home, but far enough to get a break and that we could bring the dogs and up popped this house. This house is amazing. It's got everything you could want. You want to grill? Ok, fire pit, propane, or charcoal? Want a fire? Inside or outside? Want to sit under the stars? Pick a seat, there's plenty of outdoor seating on the wrap around porch or down by the pond or maybe try the hot tub. Looking for peace and quiet? This is the house. We will definitely be back. It was easy to check in & out, the owner was super prompt to respond, & the house was clean. This house has everything you are looking for.
We were a group of friends traveling to Round Top for some weekend shopping! The house was about a 40 minute drive to the Round Top Antiques Fair but it's a beautiful drive and the wild flowers were gorgeous! The house was perfect for our group! We loved sitting on the front porch drinking coffee in the morning and saw lots of baby deer playing in the field across the street. The house had everything we needed and we were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine and a note from the host. Communication with the host was easy and he was always very friendly! As we were leaving, one of our group couldn't find a couple rings that she had set somewhere. We let the host know and he messaged me a day later saying the cleaning crew had searched high and low for us and located the rings...amazing! Then he sent them back...so nice!! If you're looking for a beautiful country setting as a quiet family get away or for your Round Top home base...we highly recommend this home!
Weâve stayed here twice this year, both extended visits of over a week, and weâre already looking forward to our next visit. We were just here for two weeks. The owner Tom came by to cut the grass and pick up the garbage. Nice!
This property has it all. My wife loves the internet speed so she can work from âhomeâ, while we all love the back porch! Our dogs came with us both times and enjoyed either porch-sitting or walking around the property, over the hills and around the pond. No one went swimming but there are a kayak and fishing poles. The fish swarm the surface when the feeder goes off.
The back porch has a clean hot tub and multiple grills, gas or charcoal. The enormous fire pit is fun and the wood is split, ready to burn. Or just sit on the back porch days and watch the amusing hummingbirds. Next time weâre bringing some bird food for the other winged residents. The pear tree was briefly home to a swarm of monarch butterflies.
We did spend a lot of time inside too. The downstairsâ great room has a comfy couch and chairs for watching TV, with Amazon Prime and HBOMax included this time. Itâs a Roku so you can sign on to other accounts if you have Netflix or Hulu. And Amazon Prime does deliver to this location. We got some pet stuff we forgot delivered, no problem. The well-stocked kitchen will work for family or couplesâ meals.
Did I mention we want to come back again? Stay here the whole time or take ten minutes to go to Bellville. Meat market, bakery, knife forge, and great food. The restaurant 22 North Holland would be a home run even in crowded Houston and youâre almost there. Check out their website; they only do weekends. We had lunch Friday and then invited a friend to brunch Sunday! Both times were great.
Enjoy your stay here. Tom is a fantastic host, easy to contact or talk to. Thanks again, Tom!
Semi- retired living in Galveston. Purchased The Twisted Elm about 8 years ago as an escape to the country. What a gem that I enjoy visiting and continuously making improvements. Decided right before the first bout of Covid to convert to a vacation home that has really become very popular because of its close proximity to Houston. Folks have really enjoyed this place as much as I do.
Private, gated, large shade trees, pond, walking trails, wildlife, and very beautiful grounds. Comfortable home with superior furnishings. When you drive through the gate and see the property you will truly be amazed at how beautiful it is... I fell in love with this place the first time I visited. When the sun begins to set the lightning bugs and other country creatures begin to wake up. Sitting on the back porch with a cup of coffee in the morning is a great start to a new day and adventure.
Very quiet, beautiful sunrise/sunset. Star gazing is fantastic especially while in the hot tub. Fish? For a rookie or a pro. Bass, Perch and a few hybrid bass. The wrap around and covered front and rear deck are very inviting. Just walking the ground is truly amazing, come and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Tom O
