this is a one of a kind stay in every way. the hike up is hard but such a killer experience pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. once you get to redemption rock tower you almost want to cry because itâs so beautiful. the space was clean and easy to operate. will definitely be back and boasting about this stay for awhile. thank you Steve!
Great place! Owner is awesome and friendly, helped us with directions, hike itself was fun, especially in the snow, about 3 feet toward the top! Tower was clean, plenty of wood and water as well as a speaker and other little things to make the stay enjoyable! Will be coming back!
was an amazing experience⊠my son not much of a hiker was the one who pushed me to finish! an woke up to a white christmas so it was even that much more worth it! an a memory that we will never forget!
We had the best time at your tower ! Super clean , amenities available we werenât expecting. We drove up in our side by side and it was just so much fun start to finish !
Great location , awesome views and an experience you wonât forget
The tower is a clean, well-built, relaxing place to stay with full 360 views of Idaho and Washington!
The solar power built into the tower was strong enough for our small, 600-watt coffee pot to work.
The windows have screens so no bugs can get in.
We enjoyed the chairs on the porch to take in the stunning sunsets!
This was a great stay! Weâre so glad the little fireplace was there - it kept the place very warm! Lots of games and just a great spot to be! It was a little unclear of how to get to the trail form where we parked but we followed the road and figured it out! Would highly recommend staying here for a fun adventurous trip!
This was our second time at the tower. We stayed over 4th of July. Amazing views for days. We hiked up to redemption rock and the view was spectacular.
We had an amazing night at Redemption Rock Tower. The hike is strenuous. But, the view and accommodation are absolutely worth it. The only hiccup we had was attempting to book the property on another site instead of VRBO. But, the property manager worked with us to resolve the problem. Highly recommend this beautiful getaway!
LOVED this place! The pictures do not do any of it justice, the views are absolutely incredible! The place was clean, comfortable, and had what was expected. Not having to pack up water was a huge help. We will be staying here again!
My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights over winter break. The hike is no joke, and we used snow shoes the whole way, but the view is gorgeous. The tower has a wonderful wood stove and a dry toilet so everything you need to be comfortable. If you are up for a tough hike and an adventure, this is a unique experience for you!
What a cool place to stay! Amazing views and sunset you canât miss.
The parking spot was a bit overgrown so make sure to look for the signs behind the weeds, also do not use the VRBO open maps option on the app to get here, either follow the hosts directions or put the actual address in your maps. The trail off the gravel road is about 3/4 of a mile from the parking spot. There is more shade once you are off the gravel road. The tower is awesome, and with all the windows letting in a breeze it cooled down pretty quickly. There is a well loved jetboil and a kettle for the stove, as well as a grill. The toilet works well, but there are no posted instructions on how to change the cartridge if needed. Also, you have to bring your own trash down, something to really keep in mind if you hike up. Overall great place to stay.
We had a great time staying at the lookout tower! Previous reviews made it sound like the road was not even maintained enough for a side by side, but this was not true. We chose to hike in mostly based on these reviews. The hike is definitely straight up! Worth the views! Not much to do other than view from the tower or take the short hike to Redemption Rock, so one night was sufficient. If we return in the future it would be fun to bring a side by side and take a better meal to bbq. We highly appreciated water being supplied since we hiked in. The tower was clean overall, but wish people would leave it cleaner than they found it. There was a bit of dog hair and someone had left foil in the wood stove. Overall a beautiful property and neighborhood and beautiful views. We had a wonderful experience. The path from the "tower parking" sign is a little unclear, but after you find the main trailhead further up the gravel road marked "tower" there are plenty of signs.
We had a wonderful time taking in the views from the tower and watching the birds play in the wind gusts, we were up in the sky with them. I can't imagine doing this hike, we rode in on a side by side with our dog. It took us two trips to get our very minimal supplies up there. Parts of the trail are very steep and even the side by side had trouble getting grip. Just as the other reviews say, this is a very advanced hike and you would need lots of water to drink on the way up. My only regret was that we really only needed one night to enjoy this place and I had booked two nights. So the second day was long and could be boring for some but we liked relaxing, sleeping, and reading. Also it's not very obvious whether there is power or lights. There is both, provided mostly by solar means to battery packs and then there is a power converter in the main part of the cabin to charge phones and the like.
This property is second to none! Right from the Start, Steve engaged us and walked us through his rental process. This destination property is as advertised and much more. The parking area for the 3 mile hike to the top is clearly marked with hand-routed wood signs. Steveâs directions and GPS maps were spot on. The 3.1 mile trail is an old logging road and the correct road to follow at the intersections are clearly identifiable by use.
On the way up, I saw elk, turkey, grouse, and deer. I also saw bear scat and cougar tracks...literally all the wildlife you can imagine are in the area. Itâs a beautiful walk up with wildflowers and vistas with amazing views the whole way up. You arrive in a beautiful saddle for the last bit to the Tower. On the way you pass the trail up to Redemption Rock aka Shasta Butte. When you have time, itâs definitely worth exploring! Once you round the corner and see the Tower, youâll be amazed and surprised at the amenities for such an austere location. He recently upgraded the solar and batteries to power the led lighting. Heâs still upgrading so you have to be smart and frugal about leaving the lights on when not in use. He also has a cellphone charging station that can easily keep your devices powered up. He also provides a composting toilet in its own little room downstairs with plenty of toilet paper...no running outside to dig a little cat hole with no privacy.
Steve provides several amenities not normally available in an austere setting. The cots he provides are comfortable but he also has a couple of air Mattresses and pump available if you want a little more luxury. He also has several water bottles provided along with some snack food available. He just asks for a small donation so he can keep his stash replenished.
The towerâs upper level is amazing: a wood stove with ample firewood, handmade countertop wood table with 4 luxurious chairs, a small table with charging
station, and 360 views of Liberty Lake, Newman Lake, Hauser Lake, Lake Coeur dâAlene, and Redemption Rock. The three-foot wide deck gives you ample room to stretch out and enjoy the views. It is so serene up here and the quiet is occasionally broken up by and elk bugling Turkey Vulture flying overhead.
When itâs dinner time, Steve has you covered, as well, with a large, outside BBQ grill, grilling utensils, and pots and pans for cooking.
I had the Tower solo for my trip and it was just the rejuvenation and solitude I needed!
