The insects observed were wood roaches, which are common in heavily wooded and waterfront environments and are different from household-infesting cockroaches. The property had been professionally treated prior to your arrival, and when you contacted us, we immediately offered to have our cleaning professional return to vacuum and re-clean the home. That offer was declined, as the decision had already been made to seek alternative lodging - without giving us the opportunity to rectify the problem. The home is professionally cleaned between guests, regularly maintained, and receives ongoing pest-control treatments. While we understand your concern, the presence of some insects is an unavoidable reality of a private island property surrounded by water, trees, and natural habitat. You were provided with early check-in, access to a private pontoon boat for two days, and full use of the property's amenities. Comparable boat rentals in the area typically cost between $400 and $800 per day alone. In addition, the rental includes exclusive access to a private 4-acre island, a swim beach, swim platform, kayaks, and the surrounding outdoor recreational areas. We value all guest feedback and remain committed to providing a unique and enjoyable island experience while continually improving the property for future visitors.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We love the house and try to keep it fun and simple for our guests. We love to cook, so we have a great kitchen, and we've taken into account items other guests have asked for and added them - more seating on the deck, a crockpot, blender/food processor, etc. We believe it is the perfect place to get away, and although the internet isn't great, it is a stone house on an island and it's the best we can get currently. Thank you for the kind review and tips. The 4+ acre island has been wild for a very long time and taming it has been an uphill battle. We have some fun plans to create a walking path around the island, a fun beach area, and even an anchored platform for swimming and relaxing. As the island has been around since the 1850's, many people have come to enjoy swimming and fishing around its beautiful, untamed edges. We do not want to take that from them, yet we want to create a unique, private experience for our guests.
