Joshua's review (published 7/11/19) is unfortunately woven with dishonesty and we believe is in retaliation for a portion of his security deposit being withheld due to damage caused during his stay. During his stay, the property was stocked with the following recreational items: (4) bicycles, kids' helmets, coolers, life jackets, and beach towels. Apparently, this guest was expecting us to provide fishing rods and tackle. The listing did not mention this, nor did he ask if such was available. But good news! He left two rods and tackle behind for future guests. The house was and is also stocked with coffee, teas, hot chocolate, olive oil, salt & pepper, basic spices, flour, sugar, popcorn, a variety of refrigerated condiments, all soaps, shampoos and conditioners, paper products, etc. Filtered water is also available. Sorry, but our home is not an all-inclusive resort. This guest did not report any issue with HVAC until after he was facing damage charges for stripping the coaxial cable out of the wall to relocate the TV downstairs. No other guest has ever reported an issue with the upstairs temperature. There have now been 3 different guests since his checkout with no issues. However, it is consistently 2 degrees warmer upstairs……because it's upstairs. The checkout instructions did not and do not state to wash any linens. Rather, we ask that guests gather and place all used/soiled linens on the floor by the washer. This guest took it upon himself to wash a down comforter with the duvet cover still on it. Most people know this is a terrible idea. Lastly, the door that was deeply gouged is the inside of a bedroom door. This so happens to be the same bedroom where the comforter he decided to wash was located. You can draw your own conclusions what happened in that room. We love our home and other guests have too. It's deeply upsetting that someone would have such little regard for another person's property. Double-blind inspections are performed by the same independent contractors both immediately before and after each guest’s stay to provide a fair and accurate assessment of conditions in case we are faced with situations like this. We have full documentation to support the charges assessed; which were only our direct out-of-pocket expenses. Of all the guests that we have had the pleasure to share our home with, Joshua is the only guest that has not received a full refund of his security deposit.
