Le DD Lodge combine tous les équipements modernes et modernes avec la chaleur et le confort d'un lodge nordique. 3 chambres spacieuses et 3 salles de bains le rend très confortable pour les amis et la famille. La grande salle quatre saisons est l'endroit idéal pour se détendre, jouer à des jeux et regarder la vie sauvage. En été, le lieu est idéal pour la randonnée, les visites touristiques, le kayak, le quad ou tout simplement pour se détendre. Beaux terrains de golf sont disponibles dans les 30 miles. La chute est parfaite pour profiter du changement spectaculaire de la couleur des feuilles. L'hiver est parfait pour la détente, la motoneige, la raquette et le ski de fond. Le ski alpin est à seulement 30 miles à Marquette.

One of the nicest places we have stayed at in the over 20 years of snowmobiling in the upper peninsula. Trail access is right down the road along with fuel less than a half a mile away. The accommodations could not have been better, this is a hidden gem, will absolutely come back next season.

Michigan Sight-Seeing Trip and Four-Wheeling

Our group really enjoyed our time at the D & D Lodge, it is so beautiful and welcoming. It was right in the middle of all the places we wanted to do. The ones who like to four-wheel, absolutely loved the area.

Beautiful home!

This property was more impressive than the pictures show! There is so much more space than is shown in the photos. The land around the home has fun trails and a beautiful fire pit for lots of fun memories. The hosts are quick to respond to questions. Would definitely come here again.

The cabin is fresh and beautiful, in a secluded forest location, and we found it to be an excellent launch point to any direction in the UP. The property owner is very helpful and prompt in communicating throughout the process. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!

Beautiful Cabin in the Woods

The DD Lodge is very spacious and quiet in the woods. Very well stocked kitchen for cooking. We used it as a base for a golf trip. We did not access the trails but I can only image they are wonderful and direct access from the property. The main road to the cabin is totally paved which is great. We had a snafu on cleaning, but the owner was extremely responsive and handled It immediately. Would highly recommend staying at The DD!

Beautiful Home

We had a great time at this property. The house was HUGE, which gave us a lot of room to spread out. There were lots of items to use for cooking; pots, pans, dishes, serving platters, crock pot, etc. They had it all. It was also a very clean and well maintained property. There's also a nice fire pit on site and a two car garage to park your vehicles in. I would highly recommend this place to stay if you want to get away. We loved it!

Awesome cabin and great riding

The cabin is beautiful and very spacious. We had a group of 7 riding snowmobiles. Plenty of parking for truck and trailers and great access to trails along with local gas station and bar. Trails were in great shape as well. Highly recommend. We will be back. Thanks again.

Great getaway

The house was very spacious and had everything we wanted and needed. It was also secluded which was a plus for us. It was actually bigger than what the pictures said (which never happens!). All of the rooms were very well-decorated and cozy. Despite being in a more remote area, everything was very modern. I would definitely stay there again and would not hesitate to recommend! Beautiful Updated Lodge

The DD Lodge was even better than advertised. It is spacious, yet cozy and comfortable. We had just two of us and it felt welcoming and not too large, but it would accommodate large groups easily, too. DD Lodge has the feel of a traditional hunting camp, but is fully updated with absolutely beautiful finishes and conveniences. It was spotlessly clean. The host’s communication was everything I could have hoped for, making check-in and check-out easy. The property offers many activities on-site or nearby. We even saw the Northern Lights from the front yard. We would definitely stay again.

home away from home

We very much enjoyed our stay at the house. It was nice to come "home" after a day of fly fishing in the area and some site seeing. The kitchen had all the essentials and we ate dinner most nights at the house. Beds were comfortable as was the living room seating. Location was perfect for us to visit local streams and to see the Picture Rocks (boat ride was well worth the cost. Much better than seeing from the platforms above) I would recommend this house to other travelers. Communication with the owners was great - very responsive.

Absolutely perfect

From the booking process to the communication with the owners to the property and lodge itself…. You could not ask for a better experience. DD lodge is a perfect place to spend time with family. The lodge itself is beautiful and much larger than the pictures would suggest. Having spent my whole life up north I still felt like I was instantly on vacation the minute we walked in. Out of all the rentals I’ve utilized over the years for getaways this was by far and away the best experience . Strongly recommend checking this place out, no disappointments.

Perfect family vacation accommodations!

DD lodge was perfect for a long awaited extended family vacation. The lodge was spacious - even for 2 families of 4 and Grandpa and Grandma! The bedrooms had plenty of space for pack'n'play sleeping arrangements for our little ones and totes for all of our belongings (avid hikers). The lodge is arranged very well - the sleeping quarters is separate from the kitchen and living room so the younger kids could go to bed while we played with the older kids. They also creatively placed rock around the firepit which acts as a barrier to keep children or others from getting too close! This would be perfect for snowmobile trips - very close to the trail and huge mudroom to hang gear! Overall a great place to stay!

DD Lodge will not disappoint.

Tons of room. Fantastic furnishing, etc. Just a really neat place to stay. But be sure you are ready to be "off the grid" as far as civilization. Cell coverage is very spotty. And you are in the woods and a little drive from a gallon of milk. Which is exactly what we wanted. And Nancy is great. Will take care of anything you need. Overall A+++

Carrie we are so glad you all enjoyed your stay at DD Lodge and exploring the UP. Regarding cell coverage, ATT added a cell tower to our area recently so the best bet is ATT for cell coverage. The lodge also has excellent internet capabilities. There is also a land line phone at the lodge for emergencies. We do have a local store one mile from camp for gas and food. The UP version of a 7-11! I hope you had a chance to visit them. Thank you again and we look forward to a return visit.

Second stay at the DD Lodge

This was our second stay at the DD Lodge. We drove up from TN during Christmas break for a winter vacation. Once again it did not disappoint. The home is clean and welcoming. Such a great place to unwind and get away from the stress of everyday life. While here we tried our hand at ice fishing and went skiing at Brule Mountain ( about an hour and a half away ). The rest of the time we spent at the cabin sledding, walks through the snow covered woods, and relaxing around the fireplace. Owners seem to be wonderful people and very responsive. Highly recommend!

Upper Peninsula family vacation

We really enjoyed our stay at DD Lodge. My family, ages ranging from 94 years to three years, and I booked this property for a family vacation and it was perfect! The Lodge is amazing, very spacious and beautiful! The property is very clean and very well maintained, with all the amenities we were looking for and more. We enjoyed our morning coffee and stargazing in the four-season room, grilling, and nighttime campfires roasting s’mores with the kids. The location of the lodge made it an easy drive to must see attractions and the Wells Township Park for a childhood/friends reunion. Our host Nancy was very nice, responsive and promptly communicated with us, making it a smooth process before, during and after our stay. Very much appreciated the “welcome information”that was sent about DD Lodge, directions, things to do, etc. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend DD Lodge when visiting the U.P.

Great stay at DD Lodge

Can’t say enough about this beautiful well appointed vacation rental! The attention to detail in every aspect of the lodge was much appreciated. Communication with the host was great and the check-in check-out was simple. This super clean property sits on an amazing piece of land that is situated to give lots of privacy. Plenty of room to park three trucks and trailers, and accessibility to the snowmobile trails was a huge bonus for us! Having a large tack room to put all of our gear was wonderful and plenty of space for six people to get ready for the day’s adventures! The Lodge is plenty spacious with three full bathrooms and three beautiful well appointed bedrooms. We really enjoyed the large four seasons room, especially after a day of riding to sit by the fireplace and relax. We have stayed at many vacation rentals and this one by far exceeded my expectations. A very well thought out beautiful proprty!

Wonderful lodge!

This lodge/cottage/house is incredible. The finishes and furnished are beautiful, the house feels brand new. Everything was clean and the kitchen is filled with everything you need to cook a good meal (pots and pans, many knives, grilling utensils). We came for a snowmobiling weekend and trail 33 is a short ride away. The trails were perfectly groomed so that was nice! The driveway has plenty of room for trailers (we had 3 of them with us) and room for vehicles. Having access to the garage was great to store one of the trailers as well. The mudroom was perfect for storing our snowmobile gear and keeping the rest of the house clean and dry. The bathrooms are beautiful (all three of them) and all of the appliances are basically brand new. Fireplace in the living room made it feel very cozy after spending long days outside. Directv allowed us to watch the super bowl with no issues. The wifi works well for the most part, it cut in and out every now and then but we didn't come here for the wifi. Cell service was non existent with Verizon (could still send texts though). Sprint seemed to work okay, and I believe ATT worked as well. The house does have a landline which is comforting in case of an emergency. The property is beautiful. So peaceful and secluded. Saw deer all the time! Nancy was very helpful and genuinely wanted to make our stay as good as possible. She made sure we had everything we needed and gave suggestions for places to check out in the area. We loved our stay! Thanks Nancy!

Winter Wonderland

What a gem! Having a family of of 4 younger kids we were looking for a winter post Christmas trip with lots of snow. Came across this listing and was impressed by the pictures and description. When we arrived this property far exceeded expectations! Looks brand new, spotless clean, and beautiful furnishings and setting. Nancy was quick to respond and take care of any questions we had and even gave great recommendations for local must do's. Met the neighbors who are also caretakers for the property and couldn't be any nicer. Really everyone we met in the area was so nice. For the cabin... The giant mud room was wonderful when coming in from outdoor activities especially with kids. Parking in the large garage prevented us from having to get into an ice cold car in the morning or clearing snow off the windshield- huge plus! The master bath also a high point for us. The shower was amazing as was the heated tile floors. Overall the house was so warm and inviting. First VRBO I have every stayed in that I felt truly at home. We didn't want to leave! When we arrived there was already a foot of snow on the ground with another foot falling over our stay. Kids had lots of fun sledding, making snowmen, snow ball fights, and hiking back into the woods. The property was absolutely gorgeous- totally secluded. So quiet you could hear a pin drop outside and dark skies that cannot be found down south. The driveway was cleared timely after snows. The roads stay snow covered but are pretty flat. We had a 4 wheel drive SUV but did see some others with front wheel drive cars getting around ok. Nancy thank you so much for sharing your home with us. Family memories were made here that will last a lifetime. Highly recommend this property. I have stayed in many VRBO properties over the years and this may be the best. Cannot say enough good things!

Bill and Nancy McHenry are the owners of the DD Lodge. The Lodge is named after Bill's Dad. His grandchildren called him Dad Dad. It was here the boys learned to love the outdoors, nature, the UP and how to hunt. The addition and remodel of the house is in respect and memory of DD himself. We hope you enjoy and respect it as much as we do. It has been a labor of love building the addition for all to enjoy for years to come.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The property was originally a hunting camp owned by Bill's dad. We remodeled and added to the camp to make it a perfect location for friends and family to enjoy the home and the beauty of the Upper Peninsula.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

DD is located in the heart of the Upper Peninsula. It is a perfect location to explore the Western and Eastern part of the UP. It is also the perfect location for snowmobiling and four wheeling as we are located one mile from trail 33 which leads to thousands of miles to explore. We are also a perfect location for a week of golf in Northern Michigan. We build the house to accommodate 2 queen size beds in each bedroom specifically for men's and women's retreats with friends. The master bedroom has a king size bed.
