Check-in was easy enough. The parking pad that's stated to hold 4 vehicles (2 for each unit) may hold 4 if you don't open the doors. So, I wouldn't plan on having more than 1 vehicle back there (for 1 rental unit). The area was nice, I never felt like I was in a bad area. Most of the pictures, with the exception of the couch, did not match what was actually in the unit.I went out one morning and came back to a truck parked in the parking pad, taking up both spots. Two men were painting the exterior of the unit, which included climbing on the roof (right outside the bedroom windows). When they were painting at the back door, they were looking directly at me while i was inside. The back door has a window with no curtain (even though the pics showed a curtain there). It was an extremely uncomfortable situation and we weren't even notified that anyone would be there.I didn't like that the big kitchen window had no coverings and the back door window, as stated previously, had no coverings.Unfortunately, the unit attached to ours was being rented by someone with multiple dogs that would go on a barking spree and then you'd hear her yelling at them. So, they're definitely not sound proof.Even though the bedrooms were upstairs and would get warm, there's a window unit that more than effectively cooled them off.Overall, it's not a bad place to stay but it doesn't meet our needs so we would not return.
Overall great experience. For those who make frequent bathroom visits in the middle of the night, it's important to know the bathroom is on the bottom floor and bedrooms are on the second floor, with a pretty hefty climb. That was the only downside but not something that can be controlled by the property manager.
This house was good. It has the potential to be amazing. The house had all the basics you need. The area was okay. There was only one bathroom and it was upstairs. This was a draw back for our party. The host was very responsive when we messaged.
Charming historical home was a cozy and clean place to stay. Everything was easy to find, tidy, and nicely decorated. We had plenty of room to spread out and the bedrooms upstairs were cool and very comfortable. We appreciate that parking was convenient as well. This worked out great for a special getaway with family.
Clean place. Nice walk to the old downtown of St Charles. Kitchen had everything we needed to make meals, beds were comfortable and location was perfect. We were close to everything we needed and less than 10 minutes to the convention center.
This property was exactly as advertised. Historic, clean, charming, and located within walking distance to historic St. Charles. Being a vintage property, though, the stairs are VERY steep, and with the bedrooms upstairs and the only bathroom downstairs, you go up and down a lot. There also isn't a paved sidewalk from the parking pad to the house, so you have to walk through the grass/weeds. We also had an issue with the air conditioner repeatedly beeping during the night :( As long as the air conditioner situation would be remedied I'd stay again.
We came here for a small bachlorette and it turned out really well! We had plenty of space and it was close to things we wanted to do. It's a block off a main road so it was convenient parking and accessible, even with our mini party bus. Rachel was super friendly and quick to respond with any questions I had so we would definitely stay here again.
Close to everything in St. Charles, Great property
Property was terrific. I stayed with my husband and our almost 2 year old to visit family in St. Charles for 4 days. Cool older home, but updated with modern conveniences. Both bedrooms were upstairs and got a little toasty, but central AC a window box in one room made it very comfortable. It was a great stay and a great find for the price! Neighbors were friendly and it was located on a quiet street that was still very close to everything. A note is that the stairs are steep and the bathroom is downstairs (away from the two bedrooms), so for little ones or older folks, it may be something to be mindful of.
I have lived in St. Charles and St. Louis my entire life - I love the small town feel of Saint Charles and I love how close we are to the wonderful city of St. Louis - the history in both areas is amazing and beautiful! I love traveling more than anything and I love to be able to provide a home away from home for those that have the same love of travel!
This house is cozy and historic - being built in 1860 - and still has all the amenities you could ask for when traveling and not wanting to be in a hotel! The 10 foot ceilings and exposed brick are just a few areas of charm within the walls.
