Relaxing and Scenic Stay in the Mountains of W. Virginia
The cabin is beautiful as well as the property if sits on halfway up a mountain! We enjoyed hiking on the property and the seclusion of the cabin. It was great that each of the three bedrooms had their own full bath, and the two rooms/beds we used were very comfortable. The kitchen was great and the living room relaxing with the floor to ceiling windows on one side of the cabin! The owner was easy to contact when we had a problem turning off the fireplace on our arrival, and was easy to reach when we had another minor issue checking out. We plan to come back again!!
A get away that was needed, we relaxed for the entire stay. When I say absolute silence thatâs what I mean, the cabin is nice and cozy, the kitchen is stocked with all the essentials you need. Beds were comfortable, plenty of fresh linen. The communication the Mike was great! I know weâll be back because my 5year old Princess didnât want to leave and loved the loft all to herself! Thanks Mike
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend getaway at this cabin. It was very clean and well stocked. It was a secluded location, but had good wifi so we were able to stay well connected with family. Would highly recommend this property.
Our son that lives in PA could not make it home for Christmas, so we decided to meet half way. The cabin was amazing, it had everything we needed and more. The weather was predicted to be pretty severe. Michael contacted us to say we could come a day early just in case. If you are looking for a peaceful property and a lovely cabin to stay in, this is your place.
We really enjoyed our stay. The property was a pretty cabin with just about everything we needed: fully stocked kitchen, screen-in porch, and even grill in the backyard. The bathrooms looked recently renovated, but the basement was unfinished. Not a far drive away from good hikes. The only surprise was that there werenât three separate bedrooms - it was one master and two twin beds in the loft upstairs.
Fairly remote very quiet house on mountain side in the woods. Good for family weekend away, lots of space for kids to run around. 20 mins from Lost River State Park where there are nice hiking trails.
Well-maintained, very comfy cabin in WV mountains. Complete seclusion -surrounded by trees and very peaceful. Easy access to great hiking at Lost River state park. Highly recommended.
The place is great. A well-built house on a lovely quiet parcel. We had everything we needed, and the host was helpful and responsive when we accidentally unplugged the wifi router. Lovely place!
Cabin is in a great location and amazing inside. A nice place to get away with the option to do outdoor activities near by. Would have been nice if fireplace worked. Property manager was helpful and courteous. Little disappointed that it wasnât really a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom as listed or as I expected. But still enjoyable
Cabin is clean, nicely appointed, cozy, comfortable, with personal touches and certainly away from it all, which was what we were after. We really enjoyed hanging out as a family, especially on the deck, in our wooded surroundings. Kids loved the movies, fire pit and piano! We agree with another reviewer that instructions on using the gas fireplace should be provided for safety reasons and perhaps a small folder of information about amenities (eg; where to find a grocery store if needed etc) and attractions/hikes in the local area would be useful, so that we didnât have to bother the owner with messages once there. That said, owner was easy to communicate with overall. Also would have been good to know in advance that a K cup coffee maker is provided instead of a regular drip one, as we didnât come prepared with pods but these are really minor points and we very much enjoyed our time in the cabin! I should quickly add that security cameras were in obvious external locations and we werenât bothered by them. Thank you for letting us stay here!
The property was great ... the house was a Beautiful and very comfortable Morning coffee on the back deck was so relaxing- we wished it would never end. Day trip up to Lost River Park was a fun time. If your looking for city and street noise this is not the place for you... several times I would stop and say âlistenâ - to complete silence. Loved it !!!
The renter clearly took great care in setting up this home for a great stay. The place was beautiful, the furnishings and amenities were in excellent condition, the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms were all stocked with all the items needed. There were little touches to make the stay pleasant - cafe lights on the porch, flashlights in each room (just in case), a few cookbooks and games if needed - just small things that showed care and thought. Directions to the location and to enter the house were perfect. We enjoyed the solitude and the cabin was a short drive from Lost River State Park which had moderately difficult trails which were a perfect day-trip of hiking for us.
Only three minor suggestions:
1. The listing says 3 br, sleeps 6, but the 3rd "bedroom" is really just an alcove in the loft with a futon. If we had 6 adults, it would have been quite uncomfortable so we were glad we hadn't invited other friends! 2 small kids might be able to share the futon. Since the whole upper floor is an open loft plan, it isn't a quiet space in general, so that alcove is not a private area, not really a bedroom.
2. We all woke with stuffy noses. Because we noticed dust on the blinds, we checked the air vent upstairs and it could use a cleaning. Other than that, the place was beautifully clean and spotless!
3. It would be helpful to have instructions for the gas fireplace and also for check-out. We appreciated that there weren't a lot of rules/warnings posted because that can be tacky and uncomfortable, but we wanted to be sure to use the fireplace safely.
Thanks for a great rental!
Les points faibles : Communication et exactitude de lâannonce
Great cabin but...
The cabin is great with everything you could need but some big issues came up during the trip.
The biggest one is that there are cameras in and around the property. The outside cameras where not a huge deal except they were not disclosed on the listing. I called the owner and asked if I could disable them, he agreed, I asked if there were any more than the three outside and one inside we found, he said no.
The next day we found 3 more trail cameras pointing at the cabin and another camera built into a smart frame in the bedroom, these were not disclosed either.
I am sure the owner had no intent on recording guests in the cabin during their stay but this was still unnerving and a violation of VRBO's policies. We were not pleased that they not disclosed when I directly asked the owner about additional cameras.
The second issue was that the caretaker stopped by at random, luckily we where they and answered the door, but it was very unexpected. This is very remote WV, someone randomly coming up to a cabin (behind a shut gate) is not something we expected. We contacted the owner right away to make sure the caretaker was who we said he was because he could have been someone looking to break in.
Overall, not enjoyable and really bothered two of the guests.
This cabin is located on 32 acres of beautiful woods. The large windows allow you to see outside from every room. You can see eagles soaring, while sitting in the living room. We saw so much wildlife around the cabin. The weather was perfect, and we hope to be back next summer to enjoy the cooler mountain climate.
