No frills cabin in rural Maine. Not fancy but exactly what we needed as a home base while we visited friends and family in the area.
Host was easy to reach and very helpful when needed.
Wonderful cabin, very comfortable and bigger than expected, the pictures don't do it justice, the bedrooms are big and the beds are very comfortable and clean. Great view of the lake from the huge deck. Quiet and peaceful location. The owner was very easy to communicate with and quickly responded to any questions we had. Would highly recommend.
The cabin was roomy and comfortable. The pond (which is the size of a small lake) was great to sit by, swim in and watch the loons go by. There were no motor boats at all. The stars were able to be easily seen (no light pollution). The drive to the shore in Belfast was only about 25 minutes away. There are great state parks and long and short hikes close by. All in all, we would be happy to go back and stay there again (even though it was an 11 hour drive for us coming from Pennsylvania!).
The home was very well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed the large deck. The walk to the water is a little steep in places but was fine for us and there is a more gradual path you can use. Lots of boats and life jackets.
Cargil Pond is very quiet, we were often the only ones out on the Pond. The swimming area has a very nice float with a ladder. While in Liberty you can also check out Liberty Tools, a one of a kind place that has a little bit of everything. Liberty Graphics is also fun and a good source for unique tee shirts. The Liberty Public Library is staffed by lovely people who are very helpful. You can try out the Library's Zen Booth. Lake St. George State Park is nearby and besides a great swimming area there is also a very good playground and nice changing rooms. Finally, John's Ice Cream is a wonderful place for a special treat.
Quiet cottage on a beautiful secluded lake in the woods.
We loved our stay at the lake. Kids loved taking out the kayak and pedal boats and they loved the floating dock. It is quite a steep climb up. Owner left the light on for us which was good since Waze directions said we were there before we got there. Clean towels and linens. We had fun playing bingo.
Lots of chairs to sit on in and out of the house.
The one bathroom was an issue for us since it was not on the floor with the bedrooms. The shower did not have much pressure.
We went down to the lake every morning and then explored for the rest of the day before coming back lighting a fire and Bbq ing. Was a great family get away.
Cute home on a beautiful lake. The walk up and down the steep hill is tough!! We caught and released a lot of baby bass and enjoyed being on the water. Will search for a less congested lake community on our next visit to Maine. Lots of roaming neighborhood dogs, locals who walk about late at night and seem to really love their music played at a volume the entire lake can enjoy. I hope your into 80âs genre! Out of 3 bedrooms, one had a mattress that didnât feel like a board. The idea was to fish for the week with our 8 and 10 year old so mission accomplished! Oh and there is no accessible washer and dryer so be prepared to hand wash anything you need cleaned. Again, cute home on a beautiful lake.
Great relaxing time on the pondâŠ..
House had everything we neededâŠâŠ
And the wood stove was a treat even though we burn at home. Some chill nights! Clean well water which is a bonus in my book!!!
Belfast and Camden/Rockport were close enough for easy day trips.
Would return again.
We love Maine â€ïž
The lakefront view is spectacular. Enjoyed paddling on the water. Nice, quiet area in a relatively central location. Easy drive to Camden and Rockland as well as Augusta. Beautiful area.
The pond was beautiful and warm and the whole property was peaceful and very quiet. There new Kayaks and although I had never used one before I really enjoyed kayaking on the pond
The cabin was a great getaway. We very much enjoyed the pond with the kayaks and paddle boats and the swim pad. The walk down to the pond was steep, but not as bad as I expected based on other reviews. The kids loved it! Everything in the cabin was exactly as described and communication with the owner was easy. Only recommendation Iâd have a more clearly marked house number on the road. It was after dark when we arrived. We found the road easily enough, but finding the cabin on it was a little difficult. Definitely recommend staying though!
Beautiful area. House was very nice. Loved the seclusion and the lake! Porch had a wonderful view. One bathroom, rough with 6 people. We had a blast! Thank you!
This is a great place to get away and disconnect for a while. Great swimming, and awesome boats to use. The yard was great for family play/hangout, including the dogs. Comfortable beds to boot! Andrew was extremely responsive to an issue with the between-guest cleaning. This is the only reason I had to put a 3. The property management clearly had not done their job. Andrew was thankful for the feedback and refunded our cleaning fee.
I recommend staying here for a getaway. Has just about everything you need and nothing you don't. The pond is clean and not very deep, perfect for swimming. At night, you hear the loons and can see a star-filled sky.
We enjoyed the water, kayaks, peddle boats and general neighborhood quietness. Be prepared to hike to get to the water as the climb is strap. We enjoyed the campfire by the lake. Lake St George brewery has some great bears as does Liberty brewing. Liberty has ap killer view with you dine. John's handmade ice cream was phenomenal. About 30 min to Belfast and Augusta. The nearest Hannefords for groceies was about 25 min away.
The house was comfortable and we enjoyed waking up to look over the water.
We had a great time lazing around the cabin and by the pond. Clean rooms and bathroom. Be prepared to grill or cook for yourself. Not too many restaurants in the area.
Andrew has been great communicating relevant info.
