We had a wonderful stay! The property is beautiful and located very close to the town center and Jacob's beach. The back porch and yard were beautiful and we really enjoyed our time outside. Thank you!
The house was just right for our weekend in the area to attend my son's college graduation. The short walk to wonderful restaurants and the town green in Guilford was a big plus.
If you love history, you will enjoy your stay at the Button Factory. We were conveniently located to downtown Guilford with all its charm. We will definitely come back.
VRBO and the host presented the stay just as we experienced. We were there for a celebration of life and it was a perfect location. We appreciate that there were no complications, and the property was exactly as advertised. Thank you.
1) sweet place with good kitchen tho we barely used
2) not for elderly or disabled
3) no hot water after 1 shower
4) some lights didnât work
5) nice yard and porch
6) bathrooms down stairs not next to bedrooms - be prepared for the late night walk
We had a wonderful week at the Button House. The house had everything we needed and the location was extremely convenient to the beach and stores. Having multiple beach passes was a godsend since we had both early and late risers in our group. The house was immaculate. Just one suggestion. The only silverware was a set of six table settings - it would be wonderful to have more. There were six of us, so we had to wash silverware after every meal, even if the dishwasher was nearly empty.
The property is very quaint and on a deadend street close to town. Definitely within walking distance. Center of town has shops and restaurants. During our stay there was an art festival so that was nice. The home had room air conditioning on the main and upstairs which kept us cool on all levels. The deck has several sitting areas that we used. The kitchen was well stocked. The bath on the main had ample towels and plenty of hot water in shower. The upstairs had a tub shower but all used the shower on the main. The beds were very comfortable. There was an issue getting into the property because the instructions were outdated in terms of code to get in and landlordâs phone number, but her new number was listed elsewhere and we were able to reach her and get in after a short while. She was quick to respond to contact and pleasant.
Owner - Very easy to work with re: reservations and smooth transaction (although did have to initiate email for final details).
Location - Very good. Walkable to town square, shops, restaurants. Street was a bit suspect with some trash, etc. at end of the road, but overall the area is very nice. Guilford is a really cute town.
House - Just ok. A bit disappointing for the price. Felt "worn" - not as fresh as photos would make it seem and quite a lot of additional clutter (old books, etc.). Downstairs bedrooms were very musty and beds were not comfortable. Could use fresh paint, decluttering, new furniture and better lighting. Very strange kitchen layout with fridge in the sunporch.
Overall - It served our needs visiting family in the area. There aren't a lot of rental houses for less than a week. That said, we have rented other houses & this one was kind of disappointing. It could use some TLC.
We had a lovely vacation in Guilford. Our family of 6 adults and 2 young children enjoyed the house, though it was lacking many things such as toilet paper, hand soap, hand towels, garbage bags. Things listed on the property details were not present (outdoor shower, additional tables outside). With some more attention to detail, this house can be really excellent, but so many minor but important things have been overlooked. I emailed the owner about our concerns but have not received a response.
High points are the location - walkable to the adorable center of town, drivable to the main commercial center (Walmart, supermarket, etc). Recommend Bufalina and Ashley's Ice Cream. Walkable to the beach, though with all our supplies we chose to drive. Large back deck and backyard that was perfect for our young children. Appliances all worked well and we ate most meals at the house without problems.
While our stay was overall enjoyable, I would have a hard time recommending this house to others without knowing that attention had been paid to many items I emailed the owner about.
I feel really bad about this review, I am not sure if my mail went to their spam, but I not only offered to refund the cleaning fee and the offer a few free nights. I had told her I would call her back but my son was in a car accident and all of my energy went to his situations. The picnic tables were on the lawn and one left on the deck. The outside shower was taken out, since people have left the water running for weeks. The person who works for me, did not take this off of the add. We have no problem with people using the down stairs shower. The bed had been replaced, so I am not sure what the issue is. I agree the cleaning lady should have left cleaning products and said she did. We do not leave products for the whole stay. Yes, a chair was broke and the cleaner tried to fix it. We take care of everything when it is brought to our attention and again, offered her money back and a free stay. I am not sure what else I can do. Thank you for reading this. Yvette
Two words perfectly describe this property. Charm and Character seasoned with history. It is a comfortable place to be, and you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. The 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms was just what our group of 7 needed. Be sure to look at the painted door in one of the 1st floor bedrooms. The kitchen has all you need to make a feast. On Christmas day we cooked a 15lb stuffed turkey with 4 side dishes, gravy, and an apple crumble. We could've done a pie but nobody wanted to make a crust. There was 9 of us for dinner. We used the kitchen table as a buffet line, took the chairs into the living room, and ate dinner in front of the working fireplace. Kinda perfect. The house is very close to the town center. Just a short walk to the green and wonderful shops. Get a sandwhich from the market, you wonât be disappointed. The owner Yvette is pleasant and quick to respond to your messages. I know this sounds like your typical be nice review. But you can feel and see the love, care, and attention that she has put into this place. There is thought and soul here. It'll make your heart feel good. Thanks Yvette
Comfy and clean with great charm and location, location, location!
We enjoyed our stay at the Purple Button Factory home. We had ample space and all the items needed for every day use. We loved the location as it was central to all our day trips. The place was immaculate. The furnishings were quaint and fun. I felt like I was staying in my grandmotherâs home with modern necessities such as a large flat screen tv, large refrigerator and large washer and dryers. We adored the fun art hanging through out the home. We wished all the windows had screens so we could have enjoyed the night breezes. We went through some trial and error to locate outlets the would hold the charging blocks for our phones and iPads, but we were finally able to use the outlets in the kitchen with reliable results. On humid days the front door would swell and locking and unlocking the front door was a challenge. My daughter became the designated doorman as she had the best results. There were four of us and we never had any issues with hot water when taking showers. Eating breakfast in the cozy kitchen was a wonderful daily event. The location was close to town and very quiet. It was so nice to be with in walking distance of the Guilford Town Green. We have very fond memories of our stay in this lovely home.
Yvette's house in Guilford was perfect for our girlfriend's get-away weekend. The house had enough space for all of us, the location was excellent, and the beach passes to a sweet town beach were well-used and much appreciated. The house was comfortable and well-appointed. Thanks!
This renovated cottage started out as a button factory many years ago. Today it is a charming 4- bedroom, 2 bath house perfect for a wonderful vacation in historic Guilford. The owner was immediately responsive to all our needs. I would recommend this property to anyone.
Great property manager. Super clean property with nice big yard. Close to shops and town green.
Rented for family reunion. Yvette stayed in touch, very personable. Nice old house with big yard. Close to everything. Overall great experience. Highly recommend!
House is located a short walk to the Guilford Green and all the cute local shops surrounding the green. The home is just right - a cozy home that is very welcoming. Yvette checks in with you prior to and during your stay. Everything met our expectations.
It was an easy check in. Property manager was in touch for any issues. It is definitely an old and charming house, which is what we booked :) overall no issues with the stay.
