Unique, rustic cabin in a very quiet location. Lots of wildlife. Within minutes to the Thermal Belt Rail Trail and the town of Rutherfordton. We enjoyed visiting both as well as the Mountain Brook Vineyards for live music and wine tasting. Capt Bob and Hanna were very welcoming hosts! Thank you for making this property available!
We enjoyed staying at the Moonshine cabin so much. It was a great getaway with gem mining and roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. The owners were so welcoming.
The location is great, lots to do nearby. The cabin is cute and cozy. The host is wonderful - we got a text when we arrived and a quick check-in the first night, which was lovely. It's personal enough to feel special, but the cabin still feels very private.
My husband had a nice and relaxing weekend at the Moonshiners Cabin. The bed was super comfy and we loved the stone shower. We would recommend this stay.
Loved getting away from busy stresses of life to a serene, peaceful stay in this beautiful cabin. Eclectic decor made the stay comfortable and homey. Hanna and Bob are super nice and hospitable. It's a bit hard to find but once you get there, you're glad you did. I'd love to go back!
My mom and I were looking for a quiet and peaceful get-away from the stresses of 2020, and this cabin provided the perfect experience! Hanna greeted us upon our arrival with warmth and hospitality, and showed us the beautiful cabin that she decorated and her husband and grandson built. It is absolutely gorgeous.
We enjoyed a quiet weekend, walking around the property, watching wildlife, and reading and watching movies by the beautiful electric fireplace.
The cabin is well-stocked with movies and games for the whole family. The property is lovely, and we look forward to taking advantage of the firepit and screened in game-table on a future return with more of our family.
Thanks for a lovely getaway!
The cabin is so perfect! And the location is exactly what we were looking for! Perfect place to relax and catch up with my best friend. Definitely coming booking again in the future and bringing my family.
We stayed for a quick overnight on our way to Lake Lure. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows at the firepit. The stars were amazing! Bob and Hanna have thought of everything. Itâs a great cabin!
This cabin is very cozy and eclectic!! It was the perfect size for four adult friends on a weekend getaway! This place was remote, but within 30 minutes to just about anything you would need including great restaurants and activities! The cabin and property are beautiful and we saw deer, fawns, and wild turkey. The cabin was outfitted with everything we needed to cook and keep our beverages cold. The stone sink and shower were gorgeous. The fire pit was a definite bonus as were all the stars in the sky!!! Our hosts, Captain Bob and Miss Hanna, were delightful to work with and very communicative. They have put a lot of love into this property!!! We had a wonderful time and would stay here again if in the area!
We had a great time during our Stay in NC. The cabin was perfect for the 4 of us. The fire pit was a great plus! The owners were very nice and helpful during the stay. Very sweet couple. Overall great cabin!
We absolutely loved staying in the Minor's cabin! Hanna and Capt. Bob put so much love into every detail of this quaint little cabin in the woods! They were very gracious hosts! We loved it and will definitely be back again. Perfect place to social distance and be safe. It is a little out of the way but totally worth the extra miles!
The house was cute you can tell the owners really put a lot of hard work into it! It was clean and had plenty of towels/extra blankets. The only thing is that from the listing I got the impression that the owners did not live near by so I assumed I would have to check in on my own. But the owners live just down the road which ended up being great because we arrived after dark. Getting there is tough with gps having the longitude and latitude as a form of address would make navigating a breeze. Other than that - perfect stay ...Hannah and Bill were very accommodating!

Captain Bob, Hanna, and their grandson, Matt, have been developing the Standing Bear Moonshiner property, since 2006. This property was built and is maintained, with love, by the family.
This cabin is completely custom created - from furnishings to the stone laden shower to the fireplace. Meticulous planning, and built-in features, make this cabin one of a kind. It is a true home away from home. Originally part of a 1,000 plus acre nature reserve, established in 1773, the Moonshiner's Cabin is situated in picturesque outskirts of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy luxury accommodations, undisturbed nature, and starlit skies, with your family.
