We stayed as a big family -- my parents, my brother (and wife, and kids), and our kids. There was plenty of space for all of us--and plenty of toilets and showers.
We made great use of the common spaces, the courtyard, the sauna, the sound system, the home cinema. There was something in it for everyone.
The location is perfect. It's right next to the Chartons metro stop, so it was easy to get to the local museums, restaurants, shopping areas, and marches.
Our host was responsive, welcomed us upon arrival, and even set up a private chef for us (twice!). There was an issue with the washing machine, but was eventually fixed.
It was a wonderful experience together as a family, and I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to experience Bordeaux.
Check in was on time with a very friendly and helpful person who showed us the facilities.
Very pleased to say the property felt even more impressive in reality than the pictures we'd seen and our group thoroughly enjoyed the indoor and outdoor space available, perfect for a large group to relax and socialise in.
The only challenge we had during the stay was with the sunny weather reaching over 30C and the bedrooms were extremely hot overnight even with all the fans going which was uncomfortable as there is no air conditioning.
There were a few mosquitoes but no worse than anywhere else nearby and the location is excellent for access to the tram, the river and a variety of shops, bars and restaurants.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would very much look forward to returning in the future to this lovely property in a very beautiful city.
The house was beautiful and location seemed great but there was no AC during this hot week that ranged from 94-104. Fans didnât help and 2 were broken. The towels smelled a bit moldy either bc they were old or they were all (20 towels) left in the washing machine too long. The beds were not comfortable and the pillows were terrible as well. When we reached out to the main contact on VRBO about it being too hot with my 70+ year old parents and 2 year old daughter, I didnât get a response. The agent Marine was great and very responsive. Again, the house is truly amazing but all these elements made our stay terrible.
Hot water ran out. Mosquitoes rampant. The Japanese garden replaced by cement. Access 5pm?
Iâve stayed before. I think for the money the place needs an overhaulâŠgreat location etcâŠ.but didnât know how to use the sauna, had to keep cleaning if kids walked over the cementâŠcouldnât unlock the rear doorâŠ..and so onâŠ.just not top shelf.
We had a really nice time in the Chai in Bordeaux. The house is beautiful and well equipped. Only very few improvement options from our side for such a big house and the price. There should be more than one key to the accomodation. In the bathrooms soaps and small towels for your hands should be provided.
However, the interior design and the garden is marvelous!
Itâs a great property in a great location. I think like anything it needs a little more attention to detail. Somethings were not working, like the en-suite main shower, the airflow is difficulty to manage and so gets very hot and the old walls shed sediment on the floor which was laying there when we arrived. I loved the stay and location but think the maintenance should be stepped up for the price you pay.
We couldnât have asked for more. The house is superb. Everything was perfect. Feeling very grateful
Our family gathered to celebrate Christmas and New Year in this beautiful and very spacious house in the fabulous Chartrons district in Bordeaux. Our manager was amazing and helpful right from the time we booked. The Bordeaux concierge was welcoming and helpful. The welcome gifts set the perfect tone for our stay as we gathered for the first time around the long table that seated all of us very comfortably. The house is architecturally amazing and the separate bedroom pods provided very comfortable private space for all 4 families in our group. The childrenâs room was very special and our 2 little ones enjoyed the pretty decor and toys. Ned the horse was a firm favourite. The kitchen facilities enabled us to cook at home and the abundance of crockery and glassware was fabulous. The gym and the media room were well used throughout our amazing 2 week stay. The wifi is also fabulous. We loved Bordeaux and we loved this house that became our home away from home. Brilliant!!!
We travelled to Bordeaux for the Medoc Marathon, and this house was a great set up for the eight of us. We all had plenty of space for privacy and room to gather together comfortably on the first level. It's a great location near shops, restaurants, and the riverwalk. I greatly appreciated having the house guide, as there are some quirks in the house, like odd lightswitches and hot water controls. The only downside was that my sinuses did not agree with the musty antique charm of the house ... bring Benadryl!
The house is beautiful. I think they said it was a converted wine warehouse. They made it very comfortable with lots of modern conveniences. There is a media room and Sonos sound system that you can download the app to control the music. There are 2 living areas and an outdoor living area. All bedrooms are upstairs. They also have a utility room upstairs with a washer and dryer. The house was very clean and well maintained. Plenty of room for large groups. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is there is NO air conditioning. Full disclosure, we did ask and they did tell us there wasn't any AC. However, they do not disclose this up front, you have to ask. We stayed in July, and thought it would be in the 80 degree range during the day but we wouldn't be there much during the day and that it would cool off at night. Unfortunately, we arrived during a heat wave with the temperature in the 90's! And it did not cool down at night. It was cooler downstairs where we could open the glass doors to the outdoor living area. The windows do not open in the bedrooms and the skylights do not provide much air circulation. There are no ceiling fans, but they did have Dyson portable fans in each bedroom. Also, to add to our heat frustration the freezer was not working, so no ice.
This house was a perfect pick for a family /friend group of 5 couples (it actually can fit one more couple in a loft space). It's been featured on local TV as a design highlight in that the original warehouse (chai) exterior has been preserved and a completely updated interior space was created that is peaceful and elegant in heart of city. Chartrons neighborhood is full of small stores and cafes and walkable to downtown historic sights. Property managers were attentive and helpful too.
Stunning space overall but bedrooms and bathrooms not on par with communal spaces
The communal living area is as you see in the photos... straight out of a lifestyle magazine. It's very comfortable and most things are easy to use, except perhaps the lighting which seems overly complicated. It is a huge loft-like area, but even on a bright day, it's not a space with an abundance of light.
Upstairs there are 6 bedrooms and only 2 with full en-suites. Whilst the overall design of this converted wine warehouse offers the wow factor in spades, the finishings and presentation, particularly upstairs, aren't in keeping with what I expected from the photos and the price. In addition, there were 9 of us staying and the hot water was sporadic and sparse - cold showers!
Bordeaux is a wonderful city. This property is in a very charming area, which I would highly recommend, about a 15 minute walk from the city centre and right by the river.
This is an incredibly cool property with unique architectural designs. It was the perfect place for our group of 8 to relax and stretch our legs after the long flight. Could not have been better.
12 people had the most amazing time in Bordeaux in this house. For our wine-trip, this was perfect! Nice, clean and everything you need and then some.
Location with everything in walking distance.
If you will stay here, ask the owner for a chef for a dinner in the house. Worthy a star!
Very proffesional. Always on time. And always ready for anything we needed.
We'll be back. Many times!
We stayed 3 nights. 2 families.
The property is SPECTACULAR. Luxurious, modern, warm., well located. Service is Superb. This is a house that belongs to the front cover of Dwell!
Service by Carole was top notch.
Guys, it was the highlight of our trip!
Stayed at this amazing home with 5 colleagues during late May. The house is huge, modern, and very comfortable. It is very close walking distance to the river, to shops, and to the tram station. Could not have asked for more.
