This was a perfect house to hide away in to complete some writing projects. The overwhelming sound heard was birdsong, and the dairy down the road has great ice cream.
Just...be aware and don't be an ignorant city girl like me: the ticks this season are BONKERS. My dog and I casually checked the wooded paths around the property on the day we arrived, and the ticks were all over us. And...the mosquitos were stupid, too. I would think the property would be great during the late fallâmaybe after the first snow of the season. Anyway, I was so freaked out by the bug situation that we didn't even take the trail down to the lake, and I only walked my dog along the roads.
None of this has much bearing on the house, though, which is charming. Thus, if you're, like, "Yeah, sis. Bugs. Welcome to the country," you'll be fine. The bed was comfy. The kitchen had what we needed to prepare meals. The hot tub was a tub that was hot and bubbly.
So would I go back? Sure. Just maybe not with my dog. He wanted to chase deer through the gorgeous, wind-rustled, tick-infested prairie grasses surrounding the property. And maybe not at the height of bug season after a mild winter and wet spring.
