We stayed in the east flank of the castle. Plenty of space. 4 bathrooms. 5 bedrooms. We stayed there with 5 adults and 3 children. But the east flank can easily host 16 persons.
What a delightful stay we had at the ChĂąteau de Bussy-la-Pesle! Our room was large, comfortable, and tastefully renovated â wonderfully comfortable, and also magical in the authenticity of the historic features that have been preserved. We loved opening our thick drapes each morning to the view of the luscious Burgundy countryside outside! The chĂąteauâs expansive park is nestled within the wee quiet village of Bussy-la-Pesle, where the hours are marked by the quiet toll of the village church bell. We loved walking over the hills on quiet country roads and paths, to other little villages.
Our hosts were immensely informative about the history of the chĂąteau itself (their passion), and also very helpful in providing guidance about day trips in the area. Until we got to Bussy we hadnât fully appreciated what an amazing opportunity this is. Since large sections of the building have not yet been renovated, we were offered a front row view into the process of renovating a piece of history. To see 800 years of architectural history emerge before your eyes through the work in progress is awesome and inspiring â and through it we are now attuned to both details and âgestaltâ of other historic places we visit.
This was our second stay at the ChĂąteau de Bussy-la-Pesle, and we will return again and again for the delight of the place itself, and to witness the continued unfolding of the renovations.
