The cabin and amenities were great, and Jan (owner) was very responsive to the few questions we had. My wife is from nearby Walker, so the cabin was conveniently located just outside Laporte on beautiful Lake Garfield. Wonderful experience!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay in this beautiful log cabin on Garfield Lake!
The cabin, property & lake met & exceeded our needs and expectations. The owners have thought of everything, providing a very well equipped cabin. They responded to our questions in a very considerate & timely manner. We highly recommend this property and hope to return again in the future! đ
Nice, clean, comfortable cabin. Felt very at home. Water even tasted good. Being able to walk my bike out to the peaceful Paul Bunyan Trail was so easy. The lake is weedy along the shore, but public beach has sand. Fish cleaning house was very nice, but we didn't fish. Overall very nice place!
We loved our 6-day stay on Garfield Lake! This home had everything we needed + lots of extras that made our vacation week memorable. Super clean and very quiet, great communication with the owners. Town is a quick walk away. We will always remember the pair of loons who visited near the dock literally every evening and greeted us with their call every morning. This was exactly what we were looking for and we feel lucky we found it! Thank you so much.
Very grateful for our 2 week stay at this beautiful cabin. Already booked it for 2 weeks next summer. Great location! 20 minutes from Walker and 40 minutes to Itasca or Bemidji â so off the beaten path of packed tourist places but close enough to easily visit. My travel companion is 81 and the place was terrific for her bad back and mobility needs - a walk in shower, sturdy and comfortable furniture and beds. (There are 3 steps up into the cabin but a sturdy railing so very manageable.). We love cooking and the cabin is stocked with equipment. Loved sitting on the huge deck and soaking in the beauty. The owner was quick to respond to messages and very gracious. Itâs a gem of a place.
I am all about honest reviews and I have to say this cabin was wonderful. Very clean, well stocked, comfortable beds, clean water (that's a big one).
There is only a few things I would let other renters know before saying at this cabin. The driveway is VERY narrow with close trees and boulders. We have a large truck pulling a fishing boat and you have to be very skilled to get in and out of the driveway. The other thing I wanted to warn other renters of is the lake. We rented in late August and the entire lake is weeds. Amazing for fishing (caught some big fish) but don't plan on Swimming. All in all wonderful cabin. Would say again!
Our stay was amazing. It was everything we hoped for and more. Jan did a wonderful job of equiping the cabin. So much so that, being first timers, we brought more items than we needed to. The fishing was good. The surroundings were great. We kept busy with activities in the surrounding area. The only negative I have is that we didnât book it for 2 weeks instead of one. Maybe Jan will allow us next year. We loved it.
Wonderful week at an amazing property! Responsive hosts. Cabin had everything we needed for a restful and relaxing stay. 10/10. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Very comfortable beds!
This is a special place! Itâs a beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting! The check in was very easy and the cabin had everything that we needed, including in the kitchen. I enjoyed taking the kayak out for an evening paddle on the smooth as glass lake and enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the loons. The little store in Laporte was close for picking up milk and sweet corn. We look forward to staying here again!
Very clean and well organized cabin! Very well stocked kitchen with the essentials you might forget. The yard is perfect for outdoor play and a fire at night. Fishing off the dock was a success! Just a quick drive into Laporte for a few groceries or dinner and drinks. The cabin is in nice proximity to all the touristy stuff to do in Walker, Park Rapids, & Bimidji. Art & Jan were great hosts! Would definitely book this property again.
Three of us fished off the dock every day and two has great luck catching bass from it. The kayaks were Al great to use to get out a bit further for fishing. The house was gorgeous and well cleaned. It was great to have three separate sleeping areas and the loft included a tv so our older kids could hangout there and relax too. The deck was really neat and always had the best view. We loved this cabin so much and highly recommend it!
The property was beautiful - we loved watching the sunrise in the morning and hearing the loons. The cabin itself was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen had everything necessary to have meals at home instead of going out. My husband enjoyed the proximity to the trail for his morning runs. We also had perfect weather which added to our enjoyment of this cabin. We would definitely stay again.
We love the cabin on Garfield Lake! Very new, clean and has everything you can think of (I found a boat plug in one of the drawers!). It was a peaceful and stress-free vacation stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin on the lake. The kids loved spending time on the dock fishing, and took the kayaks out to meet the local loons. The cabin had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and we always had hot water when showering. The Door was a sweet little spot to try for coffee and breakfast, and we loved running up to Walker to see the local shops. We would definitely stay here again!
We purchased this property in May 2018. All the furnishings are new and the cabin has been cleaned from top to bottom. This is a vacation home for us and we love it. We would like to give someone else the opportunity to stay and enjoy this beautiful peaceful place while we are gone. We have found a wonderful manager here in the Walker area who will be available to you for a any questions or problems that might arise during your stay.
We have vacationed in the Walker Area for over 30 years camping and boating on Leech Lake and the surrounding area every summer. When we retired we decided to buy a cabin instead of bringing our camper and boat with us from Nebraska.
We found this wonderful property and instantly fell in love with it. We look forward to coming back every year.
Beautiful custom built Log cabin on approximately 1 acre with many mature trees on a very quiet secluded road. There is also a fish cleaning house with running water and a freezer. The Paul Bunyan Trail is across the road from the end of our driveway. Excellent trail for bikes or walking. Laporte is just a 1 mile down the road with a excellent grocery store, gas station and city park with playground equipment. There is a public dock for launching boats into Garfield Lake.
