Beach House on Oak Island was spacious and well suited for our large family. We loved the location on the beach and the easy access to restaurants and attractions. The home was lovely and well kept. I would recommend this home to anyone who has a large family and wants to enjoy their beach vacation.
The house was beautiful...clean. The pool amazing. Photos as expected except while the beach is walking distance from the house it should be noted there's a rather steep sand dune at the end of the boardwalk. Some people may not be able to navigate.
The property was okay overall, but a little outdated. The Mst bathroom toilet barely drained from lack of proper venting and the cleanerâs couldâve spent more time cleaning all the bathrooms, as far as the fixtures. The location was great and we loved the privacy, because it was at the end of the road.
This is a beautiful private home on cul-de-sac end so ample parking which was great. The bunk bedrooms-some of the counted sleeping were trundles from under the lower bunks so keep this in mind- they are not made for adults. The elevator was wonderful for my elderly mother and very pregnant daughter. The sand dunes are very high so know it is not simple to walk to the beach for some. The Better Beach Rental staff were great and very responsive to our questions. The kitchen was stocked with all the cookware you would need for a large group.
Great property. Spacious home for me, my husband, and our 3 children and their families. Quiet street and lot. Short walk on private boardwalk to beach. Fun and fellowship was had by all this year. The company that manages the property, Better Beach Rentals had great communication.
Nice house felt secluded at end of road. Plenty of parking. Loved the pool. About 2 football fields from ocean. Loved the gazebo at the end of boardwalk, a wonderful place
to leave beach chairs etc. Master bedroom and bath was very nice. Other bedrooms were very small. Overall a great week at Luck and Laughter.
Overall, we had a very nice trip to Oak Island. The location of the house was convenient for just about anything, and the boardwalk to the beach wasnât as far as we expected. Plus, we got to see a few gators. Only downside was more on our poor planning as we had mostly adults in the house so the bunk beds werenât great for grown men. We made it all work though. This house would be perfect for a couple families with younger kids.
Beach access was really nice. Very private. Home needs upkeep maintenance
We found that the bedrooms were not explained very well. One bedroom was so small with no closet it was wholly inadequate. We were not expecting to have to make all beds- Virtually impossible since 4 bedrooms had unmovable beds up against the wall. We enjoyed the porches even though they were a bit narrow. Over all we all enjoyed being together for the week. Access to town was easy and close.
Pros: The house is beautiful. The view is beautiful. The walk to the beach is lovely, and not as long as we thought it would be from the pictures. The beach was not crowded at all, which was great. The home was big enough to sleep our 3 families, and it's nice that is's at the end of the street, so the kids had lots of room to play. And we were worried, but we didn't see any alligators, per another review (although there is LOTS of marshland where they definitely could be). Overall, our trip was great. The rental company was very helpful when I wanted to book an extra day.
Cons: I sent several messages through VRBO because I had a few questions. ZERO response. I have never had that in al the times I've rented. I was getting worried that it might not be legit. I finally called the rental company, and they were pleasant enough and helpful. But there is no communication between the rental company and VRBO. The pricing and dates didn't match up between what was being posted on VRBO and what I was actually being charged. Not a huge difference, but still. The house was pretty dusty and the floors weren't the cleanest. Not terrible, but not great. We definitely swept up a lot of dog hair, and we didn't bring a dog.
We stayed 4 nights at this lovely Oak Island home. Beach is beautiful. Only complaint is that this home is pet friendly which is wonderful but Grassy area down from front stairs had dog poop all over from what appeared to be a larger dog. We always pick up after our pets. Pet residue should be picked up and put in The trash. Puts a bad taste in mouths of renters.
This place is gem. Just the setting alone with the views from the porches are splendid. Kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs. Elevator certainly helped one we figured out how it worked. All on outlet party loved the place. One note to housekeeping-vacuum! I vacuumed upstairs and emptied the container 3 times.
Beautiful, spacious house great for family vacation!
Between Covid concerns, and a major hurricane that struck the island just a couple weeks before our scheduled visit, we were not sure this vacation was going to happen. But in the end, it all worked out just as planned. We feel very blessed, as we know others we not as fortunate. Better Beach Rentals was very helpful and answered our questions, and were immediately responsive to our our one concern during our stay. Our stay at Luck and Laughter was very comfortable for our extended family of 7 people, ranging in ages from 11 to 88. The house was beautifully decorated. The view of the private boardwalk and gazebo at the end, with the ocean beyond it, was spectacular. And the beach -- wow, SO nice, clean, lots of room to play, not crowded, peaceful! The walk from the house to the beach along the long private boardwalk was about a 3 minute, leisurely walk. The short path across the dune from the gazebo to the beach was a bit overgrown, but in light of the recent hurricane. that is somewhat understandable. The gourmet kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots and we were able to easily cook meals for everyone. LOTS of TV's -- one in the Great room and each bedroom. Outside, there was both a hose for washing off sandy feet, as well as a full outdoor shower in the car port area if you wanted a more thorough rising. While in the area, we also enjoyed visiting a few of the shops for gifts and souvenirs. As well as putt-putt golf followed by delicious ice cream one day, just a short walk from the house. If you like history, visit nearby Brunswick village -- the visitor center is closed currently, but the grounds are still open. There are several places to get groceries just a short drive from the house. Overall a really fun and relaxing vacation here, just what we all needed!
This place could have been perfect, but was filthy, unkept and overgrown. The walkway to the beach is fabulous but was over grown allowing stinging insects to overtake the property. The house was absolutely filthy. Crumbs everywhere, floors , inside cabinets, on countertops. Ovens and cooktops filthy, griddle had a ton of old grease under it. Refrigerator was not clean, return air vent was covered in dust. Really, horrible. Especially that we had to allow 2 extra hours to have the house cleaned because of covid. We were disgusted. Better beach rentals was GREAT! Answered quickly, courteous, sent guys over to take care of a few issues very quickly. Will rent again, but need to verify the cleaning service. I left it much cleaner than I found it. We also saw an 8' alligator cross right in the yard and sat on the driveway. I think you need to warn all renters of his presence. I can send pictures and video. Quite large and very well camouflaged. Dangerous to pets and kids!!!!!!! Please call me if you want video.
