The home was great. The only thing I didn't like was getting to the house. Not complaining at all. Next time I will know what to expect in that great area.
The home worked out great for me, my son, and daughter, with her husband. The location was perfect for our needs. The home was very clean and pretty well stocked.
Great location for motorcyclists, so many beautiful scenic roads. The house was very clean, all beds were comfortable. Only thing I would mention is the driveway; if you have a truck and trailer, there is limited maneuverability and you have to come in from the east.
The house was clean and well stocked. The addition of a turn around is great when you have a trailer. The covered parking was great with our motorcycles. All in all, a great place that was very comfortable for the four of us which we would rent again if/when we go back.
We used the property as a âfish campâ as it was within minutes of our trout fishing destinations. The accommodations were on point. Very luxurious for such a remote location. Very clean and plenty of room for four men. I recommend this property for anyone wishing to explore the area. Easily earns 5 stars.
We stayed there days at this house for a motorcycle trip. It worked out great! Nice wide driveway and a carport to keep the bikes dry. House was clean and well equipped. Well stay here again when in the area.
Came to ride the tail. Property was great to accommodate people, 4 cars, and 3 trailers! Steep gravel driveway was a little challenging for motorcycles, but the hosts had provided pieces of wood to stabilze kickstands - very thoughtful and helpful. Covered space for the motorcycles.
Great! Four bedroom property with everything you need. Fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and a laundry room with washer and dryer. We enjoyed sitting by the fire or on the wraparound porch in the evening. Plenty of room for a truck and trailer and our four motorcycles which we could put under covered parking. And the location is perfect access for all the major roads in the area (The skyway, The tail of the dragon and the hellbender). We'll definitely be staying at this property again.
Peaceful except for when the loud cars came by⊠we didnât mind that though since that was part of the reason we stayed here. The close proximity to The Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala and Joyce Kilmer forest drew us to stay here and we enjoyed all of those things as well as this cabin.
This property has all the nature feels! On day one, we were greeted and entertained by the large black rat snake. He came back on the second evening as well. Completely harmless and awesome to see! Day three, the yard was filled with deer, including a spotted fawn, who played in the rain. Days four and five we saw the resident turtle who would come out to dine on foliage when the mountain rains filled the streams with enough water to where he could get to the plants that he wanted.
The cabin was perfect for our party of 8. We did have three vehicles and two trailers with 4 motorcycles. The driveway was completely doable with some simple logistics. We did have Kendon trailers so that helped as they are foldable and allowed us some more space. We left frequently and so we were in and out without any issues.
The cabin was well stocked and comfortable. The hot water heater kept up with all 8 of us showering each morning with no issues. We cooked several meals in the cabin and didnât feel like we were missing anything in the kitchen.
As mentioned before, this is a forested location and cell phone coverage is spotty. There is WiFi and it does work, but with 8 people it did get a bit bogged down at times because it is through Hughes Net. Thatâs to be expected and not the fault of the owner, but I mention it so you donât expect to have high speed download internet. You have to remember your location and where youâre at and whatâs available.
I reached out to Laura ahead of our trip to ask about the driveway and she was very responsive. I would definitely recommend this rental and would stay here again!
Thanks for a great stay!
The cabin was perfect for us. We were 4 friends who wanted to do some hiking and enjoy ourselves for a couple of days. The cabin was well stocked, the beds very comfortable, the scenery gorgeous, and both the owner and property manager easily reached and very helpful. We'd definitely stay there again if we're in the area. The only negative, and this is not the owner's fault, is that cell reception was practically non-existent in the entire area. So one thing I would suggest to any visitors is that you download maps and directions to wherever you might want to go before you get there because you may or may not be able to access anything on your phone once you're there.
Very beautiful location with a very nice four bedroom house that has all of the amenities. Driveway is gravel and quite long, but all 4 of our sports cars had zero issues. Everyone of the members of the group staying were very happy with the property. We enjoyed the firepit, BBQ and the decks. Listening to the frogs and the brook added to the experience in the evenings. Thank you to the owners for having such a great property to offer. We will most likely stay again next time.
This was just what we were looking for to hang out with family and ride the tail of the dragon! There was plenty of room for 8. The porch and views were gorgeous in April!
The driveway was challenging but ended up being okay. More than a few cars means you have to play musical cars often! Well worth the price per night. It felt out in the middle of nowhere while still being close to town! I would stay again!
If you want to get away from the pressures of work, city and traffic this is the place. The home is located only a few miles from the center of Robbinsville but required quite a bit of driving to reach our fly fishing destinations on Big Snowbird Creek or dinner. I may have missed the items to bring with you as we failed to bring bath soap and were disappointed that the Keurig coffee maker didn't have any pods. However, the owner offered to refund our purchase of bath soap and coffee pods purchased in Robbinsville. We were a little concerned upon seeing several "Beware of Snakes" signs but fortunately no sightings. I believe that had we been traveling with our wives the sign alone may have been an issue. Overall the place was very comfortable at a very reasonable rate.
The property is a nice, well maintained, large cabin in a pretty area. It is isolated with no close by neighbors and at least 20 minutes from Robbinsville. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is it, but if you don't like winding roads and driving a lot to get to restaurants, stores, etc., then this might not be for you. There are four very nice bedrooms with two baths and plenty of room for congregating. There is a fire pit but you need to bring your own wood. The kitchen was great, modern and well stocked. We had some minor troubles with the refrigerator temperature that seemed to fix themselves. The housekeeper lives next door and was helpful and friendly when we called her. We would stay here again!
Spent a week with the of my motorcycle riding friends. Four bedrooms and two full baths was great for our group. Kitchen has everything you need (crockpot, blender, toaster, etc.). Coffee maker is a Keurig only, so bring some K-cups. Property is at the start of the Cherohala Skyway, a short way from the Tail of the Dragon, downtown Robbinsville and the Tapoco Lodge. Driveway was not too challenging. We had a large truck and trailer and managed fine. Covered porch and fire pit was nice in the evening. Wifi and dish tv worked great for watching football. Covered parking was big enough for 4 motorcycles. My 12th annual week long motorcycle trip to the area and this property didn't disappoint.
House was right on Cherhola Skyway. About an hour to Deals Gap. Driveway not great for bikes. Steep driveway and covered in drainage gravel which does not pack well. Tight driveway. Not ideal for trailers. We had a 14ft and had to disconnect and move by hand to get turned around. Not a deal breaker but a longer trailer would have been a real pain. House was nice. No complaints except the internet was often not working at all and when it did was very slow. I called the local contact and she said there's not much they can do. Almost zero cell service out there so if you're planning on needing to be connected it's something to consider. Had to ride down to the gas station about 25 minutes away to use my phone several times. They do have a land line though.
We have driven past this property for 10 plus years, going to The Dragon Hillclimb on Maple Springs Overlook Rd, never knew it was there !!! It is a great place to stay has a very secluded feel, there is everything you need to feel right at home. There are plenty of porches for relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the pond and stream. There is a great walk path to explore and enjoy. It was perfect for us because of just being @ 3 miles from the Hillclimb. The owners and housekeeping are the best. Very helpful and accommodating.......can't say enough good, we will definitely be looking to stay here again next year !!!
The cabin was perfect for our group, we had no issues with the driveway, and even the driver with a Porsche was able to get in and out of the property with no issue. The location was amazing, and the grounds are well kept. The cabin was clean and well cared for and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this area..
The house was a perfect location for us on bikes. The driveway was doable. So quiet peaceful and unhooked!! There were only a couple things we may suggest. The ice maker didnât seem to work very well, so we always had to be one step ahead to plan for bringing ice back on bike. Also, we took a bag of trash we had in house every day to trash bin so we were not having to haul all out on last day with our belongings on the bikes. My request would be at least if you are on two wheels that house cleaning would take the trash on the last day to the bin. It was a great time had by all. Thank you!
