Thank you so much for your positive comments about the cabin's location and housekeeping. I looked at the photo records prior to your arrival, and there were 3 bath towels in each bathroom (total of 9), plus three extra in the hallway closet, and we have a washer and a dryer available for the guests, so the housekeeper thought it would have been sufficient for your party of 6, but I appreciate your advice and we will be leaving more extra towels for the future guests. The cabin has three bedrooms, kitchen and living room on the main level, and additional family space in the finished basement. It is very important that our listing photos and description advertise the truthful picture of the cabin's space, so we are very sorry if the cabin was smaller than you thought it would be. This summer has been very hot, so I understand that even with the air conditioning the upper level felt warm, and it can be very frustrating; I myself cannot stand hot weather. I am glad that at least the basement stayed cool. I am sure you had many choices, so we are grateful you chose our cabin. Dear Gail, Thank you for such detailed review! Guests like you truly help us improve! Please allow us to respond. We are very happy you appreciated the pleasant atmosphere of Green Mountain Falls, our living area and other amenities at the Cabin. I am also happy we were able to provide the early (noon) check-in you wished for after the airline messed up your flight schedule. It is your comment about mice that concerned me the most, but I had to wait till I heard back from our maintenance person before responding. I must admit, due to the location, mice are a constant threat. We have black bears, deer and bobcats roaring around, so mice are no exception. For that reason, we have a contract with the local pest control company who inspect the property quarterly with follow-up visits as needed. The bait stations inside the cabin are designed to get any mice that may get inside sick and thirsty, prompting them to leave the property. Following your review, I immediately scheduled a follow up visit with our pest control person who inspected the cabin today. I specifically asked him to check for any recent mice activity, especially in the basement. He reported: “Based on today’s inspection, I did not observe any evidence of fresh mouse activity inside the home. I did not find any fresh droppings, fresh gnawing, or hear any rodent activity during my inspection.” In addition, he inspected the interior bait stations, finding them full, which is also a positive sign. I do not question that there was some noise that caused disturbance to your family at night, but I wonder if these noises came from the night wildlife outside the cabin. In any case, we will continue working closely with the pest control company to stop any mice from getting inside. Our housekeeper is also instructed to keep a close eye for any signs of mice activity. “Kitchen & dining limitations.” I am very grateful for your notes about limited amount of flatware. We replenish our flatware each year or two (same with pots and pans). Unfortunately, sometimes the utensils get misplaced faster than we notice, so we are truly grateful for your input! We have already purchased a new flatware set. I wish I could attach the photos of the current set of pots you noticed had scratches, next to the photo of the new cooking set (Country Living ceramic nonstick) and flatware set (Ornative, 41 pieces for 8) and several new baking sheets I hope our future guests will find satisfying. “Amenities & cleanliness.” We provide the gas grill and the propane for the grill, hoping that the guests understand it has been used by the previous guests and may need some cleaning. It is true that our furniture is not brand new and has scratches and signs of wear. We must trust our own judgement and balance our budget when buying new furniture to replace pieces that have been broken or badly stained/ damaged. The pillows are tricky. It is very hard to guess the amount of firmness that can please most people. For that reason, we always buy pillows with middle level of firmness. My kids caused me some serious sleep deprivation in the past, so I truly understand how important your sleep is. Thank you for your comment!
