My freshman daughter had to have surgery and then needed a place to recuperate that was close to campus. This place worked great for us to get her back to class and her dorm. The kitchen was perfect for some home cooked meals.
Very cozy spot close to downtown and some great restaurants like the Blue Note Grill. Loved having coffee every morning and lounging in the quiet neighbourhood. Would definitely love to stay again.
Jim was very responsive as a host. I stayed for about 2 1/2 weeks for work in the area, and the space was clean, accessible, and close to everything you could need.
I enjoyed staying in this well decorated safe place. The trails were close by for exercising and the owners were so responsive, open and kind. I found this place to be a quiet safe haven and would highly encourage people to stay. It has everything one would need. Thank you Jim and Donna
Nice unit in working class neighborhood. Mostly quiet except for some music being played loud on weekends (could hear inside unit, but not earth shatteringly loud). Nothing too late though. Cell signal is not the best, so activate Wi-Fi calling while staying here. Great experience overall.
Jim and Donna's property was perfect for our weekend in Durham. Two couples were in for a three-night run of concerts at DPAC, so we wanted the conveniences and space of a home. We chose their place because of its proximity to DPAC, and quickly realized how close we were to everything else: the greenway, coffee and dining, shopping, and yoga. We rode our bikes frequently--and the greenway is a nice (and FLAT) way to get to all of those conveniences.
The home is perfect: all completely redone, fresh, and clean. It's well-equipped--you can tell Jim and Donna have thought of EVERYTHING their guests might need. We were very comfortable in this beautiful duplex. We met the neighbors, but never heard them. The neighborhood is transitional--it's definitely on its way to being the next healthy area--but we always felt safe and everyone we saw in the surrounding homes greeted us and were friendly.
I highly recommend this rental for your time in Durham. WAY better than a hotel in price, cleanliness, and convenience.
We loved this cozy property (one of two side-by-side units in a duplex) on a quiet street. We appreciated the cheerful decor, the well stocked kitchen, the clear instructions everywhere, and the excellent AC. Donât miss the charming creek trail down the street. Other than the sofa being a little soft and squishy, thereâs nothing weâd change. We would definitely return.
While the property is indeed family friendly, we two senior citizens found it very friendly as well. Everything was clean, easy to use and there is a binder providing all the information you need.
The location is great. There is a place for coffee, a sandwich shop, indoor and outdoor dining with live music...all within a 5 minute drive. And the Museum of Life and Science is less than 10 minutes away; which we also found enjoyable as adults without children.
The neighborhood is well populated and friendly, leaving us feeling very safe and part of a community.
One evening, there was a knock at our door and it was a man telling us our car trunk door was open and asked if he could close it for us. We found that very neighborly indeed.
The owners couldn't have been better at responding to any communication we initiated as well as checking in at the start and end of our visit.
Everything is just as described. Look at the pictures and read the description provided and there will be no surprises.
We loved it!
Fantastic location, close to Downtown Durham, with a charming walking trail close by so you can get to downtown by foot. Found the space quite charming and loved the addition of a washer/dryer. The kitchen was well-stocked with coffee pods and tea bags. Check-in, check-out instructions were clear. Plenty of towels and bathroom amenities. Thanks for a great stay!
The place was so comfortable! The hosts were very responsive anytime I had a question. The beds were comfortable and the towels were amazing. The house was quiet at night so there was no trouble sleeping. The location was close to everything we needed and the hosts have a book with all the details you need. I would definitely stay here again!
"Jim and Donna, We really enjoyed staying in your home! You were a wonderful host by answering our questions about recommendations for places to eat, etc. Your place was clean and comfortable. So, close to Duke University where our Grandson attends. Plus, so close to all the activities surrounding Duke. The check-in was easy and the parking in front was convenient. Although we didn't use the kitchen much, it was fully equipped. We will differently stay again. Thanks again for sharing your home with us. Sandi & John
My family and I stayed her for a month as we were waiting for our home to be move in ready. The unit is just as advertised, clean and welcoming. The unit is outfitted with everything you could need, especially for families - pack n play, toys, childrens books, legos. Everything is very well thought out. Jim and Donna were extremely helpful and available during our stay. Jim even brought our son extra toys half way through the stay. They were wonderful.
The property was lovely. Sadly, the tenant on the other side was moving out without notifying owners so no heads up on that, and the people across the street had loud music playing late into the night on Saturday.
We had a few questions which were addressed, and made some suggestions as to how to make the rental better. Jim and Donna quite accepting of them. Great communicators. We enjoyed our stay. It is quite close to everything we wanted to do and we had amazing dining experiences in town.
This property is very welcoming and comfortable. Very clean and well appointed. It had everything we needed for a home away from home. We really appreciated the closeness to the Ellerbe Creek Trail. Thank you to the hosts.
Nicely clean house with everything you need to have a comfortable stay.

Stellar in most ways. Donna very much enjoyed designing the living space for your comfort and enjoyment. Donna loves nature and is an avid walker.
Jim and Donna enjoy exploring, live music, festivals, backpacking, and time with friends. Trekked Nepal through Everest Base Camp, Cho La, and Renga La Passes, all over 17,400'. Finished the Colorado Trail (484 miles) in two segments, Denver to Durango.
We have two awesome adult children and two grandchildren that we love spending time with.
Jim & Donna supports Living Wages. The people who clean this hostâs listing are paid more than a living wage.
Close to downtown Durham, DPAC, Durham Bulls, Duke University, Duke, and VA Hospitals. Coffee shops, breweries, music, and restaurants are .7 miles away. Very convenient to the Duke and VA Hospitals.
