Great Cottage

The cottage was perfect for our beach week. Well-stocked kitchen, clean bathrooms, nice linens. Unfortunately for us, our timing coincided with the storm Debby. We were able to get some time on the beach every day, but due to the heavy rainfall and wind, we spent many hours in the living room of the cottage. If the weather would have cooperated, we would have had a delightful trip! My favorite part of the house is the covered deck with rocking chairs from which you can watch the ocean waves.

Very nice oceanfront duplex

I was worried about it being a duplex, but we never heard a sound from our neighbors must be soundproof walls . The house is very nice. Would definitely rent it again.

Perfect beach location

Perfect beach location, exactly what I was hoping for. Perhaps it was a little small for my family of 6 but overall, we got along great and loved our little duplex. Never once heard the neighbors. Overall wonderful choice. Loved our stay.

We’ll utilized small bungalow on the beach

Gulliver’s place was perfect for our yearly family vacation to the Bogue Banks. There was 5 adults that stayed and we didn’t feel like it was a small space due to the amazing back porch. That portion of EI is so secluded, so you are always going to have space on the beach to setup a tent or two. The house had everything we needed from pillows and towels, to cutlery and kitchen appliances. The rocking chairs on the back porch are a nice way to wind down after a long day on the water.

Perfect view of Ocean

This duplex is spare but in good taste with a lovely view of the beach and comfy furniture. The beach on this part of Emerald Isle is uncrowded. It is about 5 miles from downtown. The kitchen is well stocked. I was wary of sharing the porch since it is a duplex, but luckily we co-existed with the other family nicely. Be sure to bring your own supplies...soap, dishwasher soap. The master bed is very comfortable!

Another wonderful EI vacation

We have stayed at both sides of Blue Heron. Gulliver’s side is definitely more updated! We had a total of 6, including 4 teenagers. The sleeping arrangements were a little tight, but the rest of the space for was just right! The kitchen was well stocked, the bathrooms were very nice, and the views are incredible! The beach is a 15 second walk- so close!! If you want to be away from the downtown area of EI, this is the place to be! Gulliver is a great host and even sent back a necklace I accidentally left. We would absolutely rent here again. Thanks for a great stay!!

Absolutely perfect vacation home!

We had a wonderful experience with this rental! The house is very clean, fully stocked kitchen, bathrooms immaculate. The best part: the views were absolutely incredible!!!! Direct beach access made it super easy for our kids to run back and forth to the house, and an outdoor shower and hose helped keep down sand in the house. The desk even has a privacy screen to separate this duplex from the other side, so it really felt like a stand alone property. Comfortable chairs on the deck overlooking the ocean. We will absolutely be back to rent again! Thank you!!

Comfortable cottage in a great location

The house is in a nice quiet location. It was only a few steps down a walkway to the beach, which was fantastic. It is a duplex, but we had no problems with noise or privacy. We really enjoyed the covered porch with rocking chairs. Great views of the beach from the living room and dining room areas. Beds were comfortable. The owner responded to a message we sent immediately, and fixed a problem we had very quickly.

Beautiful beach

Very clean, comfortable beach house. Beds were good, ample towels were provided, and kitchen was well supplied. I would certainly recommend the property and stay there again. It is accurately listed - no surprises. The host was even kind enough to send back a few items we forgot to pack home with us - thank you! I can only suggest to bring your own hair dryer.

Much-needed Family Beach Week

What a comfy, well-appointed beach cottage, perfect for escaping the crazy pandemic world for a week with our young adult kids. I'd never been to Emerald Isle, and this location is quiet and perfect for social distancing. We didn't go out, instead cooked in every night except for one night of take-out from the Crab Shack, a great locals spot just about a mile east. They had a great order ahead system, and the service and quality was spot on. Morning coffee and afternoon happy hour was even better on the covered porch with sea breezes and front-row views of the beach. I had never rented a duplex before and was a little hesitant, but we had neighbors in the other unit and hardly knew they were there. There's a Dollar store just about a mile west, perfect for the little things you might need during your stay. The entire family agreed we needed to make this an annual tradition!

Relaxing!

This property was clean, great location if you want quiet away from the business of the Island and steps away from the ocean and perfect size for a small family. It's always hard to find a house that isn't giant for a family of 3. The only downside is that this property is a duplex so your stay could be affected by whoever is staying next door. We happened to have a family of 6 staying at the same time as us who was getting married on the beach during their stay so they had another 15 or so people visiting every day. They were very respectful but as you can imagine this could have gone totally the wrong direction if they were the wrong type of people. The house is well appointed and very well furnished. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time.

Great time away!

Great location, tidy, and met all our needs. We did cook quite a bit and some of the cutlery and cooking utensils could use an upgrade but we made it work with everything we had. Overall great property, provided modern updates with some vintage charm!

Fantastic little haven

We absolutely loved this house. It was just the right size for 5 of us and the location was amazing. The owners were incredibly responsive to all questions. Everything was really clean. The glasses get a film on them but if you use the rinse aid in the dishwasher, it come off. One of the best beds I have slept in and I never say that! We would definitely come back. Loved it!

Perfect beach-front location

Just the most perfect location for a quiet beach vacation. The property does share beach access with the adjoining rental, but not a problem for us. Pluses - the deck and rocking chairs over-looking the beach, the beds were so comfortable, well equipped kitchen. Minuses - the kitchen is little tired and the cabinet doors were a challenge, difficult to get wet in the master bedroom shower, although I understand the other shower was great!

Love this house!

This house is awesome and well stocked. It is in a beautiful location on the beach. It was a lovely stay! The only difference between the pictures on the VRBO site and the actual house is that there is not a ceiling fan on the porch... but the breeze was so lovely, we didn’t need it.

Fantastic!

Wonderful stay! This house has everything you need for a very relaxing week. We found it to be clean and comfortable. Sheets were soft, beds cozy. Bathrooms beautifully updated. Though it is a duplex we were barely aware of our neighbors...and they were traveling with a small baby. Porch has a privacy wall and we truly forgot it wasn’t a single family residence. Couldn’t have been better! Also, as an aside, I saw a previous review stating there is a bug problem and this was not at all the case. There was not one insect inside the entire week...though of course at night on the deck if you leave the light on you’ll attract plenty...so you’ll need to leave the sliding doors closed. We would LOVE to come back next year!

Best view on the beach and easy access. Fabulous layout and updated bathrooms. Not having to worry about cleaning before leaving a huge plus. Would recommend and stay again at this property.

Emerald Isle Cottage

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation in this duplex which had the best location - oceanfront and about 1/2 way between 2 public access paths (so it wasn't very crowded in front of our house). The duplex was very nicely furnished and we had everything we needed with a well equipped kitchen, tvs in every bedroom and rockers on the covered porch. My favorite place was in a rocker on the porch with a ceiling fan and a fantastic view of the beach - that is when I wasn't on the beach! Would definitely recommend this rental. Gulliver was great with quickly responding to any questions I had. We hope to return soon!
