I was in town for a conference downtown Louisville but want to stay outside of town, in a safe, rual setting with a country vibe to it.Well i hit a homerun picking this place!Right off of the bat i knew that i was in good hands by the quick responses to my messages. The hosts go out of their way to make your stay a great one. I highly recommend staying here.5 Stars is not enough. Add a bonus star
My wife and I came up from Alabama and had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful place! Check in was super easy, everything was clean and well kept as well. The host made us a welcome tray and it's excellent (especially the bourbon balls) also we the host made us breakfast also amazing! Overall I highly recommend anyone staying here!
We stayed for 6 nights. Tammy and Jan were the most gracious hosts, answering our every need. I also recommend the cooking experience- so delicious and fun! We will definitely return
My wife and I enjoyed our stay with Tammy and her husband Jan. Unique location, back in a wooded area on several acres. Very quiet and relaxing. Room was comfortable and right next to a private bathroom. We didn't need an entire house and Tammy made us feel at home. We signed up for one her bourbon cooking classes on Saturday evening at the house and enjoyed the dinner with two other couples passing through on the Bourbon Trail.
This place was like a home away from home. The couple are wonderful beautiful people. Took a walk on their property and sat on the swing. Very serene and peaceful. Tammy had continual breakfast for us. This was more than 5 stars for us.
Thank you Tammy & Jan for a very memorable stay while we visited our family.
Tammy was a delightful host and we enjoyed our conversation with her during our stay. Breakfast was outstanding and we were able to sit on the front porch and listen to nature while we ate. Located in a secluded neighborhood having a nice view of a pond with herons, ducks, geese and turtles, etc. We would absolutely stay here again in the future!
My girlfriend and I had an incredible stay at this VRBO. We were treated like royalty. We had a bottle of wine, fresh cheese, crackers and home made peanut chocolate balls for starters.
We had unbelievable home made breakfasts and our overall experience was a ten plus. Cannot say enough nice things about their residence, sweet dog and them. We were simply treated like royalty. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VRBO to anyone visiting Louisville or the surrounding area.
Tammy and Jan are great hosts.
Their location is far enough out of town to be peaceful, yet close enough to everything.
This was our base for a bourbon tour trip to Louisville. Couldn't ask for any better.
The baked goods Tammy made for us for breakfast were delicious. Only wish we were there on the weekend for a full breakfast. Guess we'll have to return again and stay a weekend.
This amazing log house makes you feel like you have escaped the city and gotten away to a slower pace. It is amazing clean and comfy. The breakfast was way more than we expected and so delicious. And all this minutes from Louisville.
We had a wonderful stay in this lovely room. Tammy and Jan are so hospitable and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful each morning and we really enjoyed learning about the Lewis and Clark connection and seeing some of the memorabilia associated with the bicentennial celebration. The grounds are lovely and it was nice to stay a bit outside Louisville surrounded by trees and a small lake. Tammy also offered a cooking with Bourbon class which was very enjoyable as well. As it was Derby week, the Captain's cabin was already rented so we stayed in the main house. However, we toured the Captain's Cabin and it would be a wonderful place to stay if you ever get the chance. It is truly the cutest and coziest cabin we've ever seen.
Out if the hustle and bustle, beautiful surroundings
We were expecting a separate bed/bath so we were surprised that the room was part of the main house with the bathroom down a shared hallway. The owners, however, were very conscientious to ensure our privacy but very engaging.
The breakfasts were also amazing!
We love hosting people from all over the world in our Captain's Cabin Bed & Breakfast. We opened Captain's Annex in our home for Derby and special events. My husband, Jan, is a licensed architect specializing in log and timberframe homes so when we found this property featuring TWO log cabin homes, we had to live here. I, Tammy, am a marketing consultant for healthcare companies and home sharing host. I love to cook and spoil my guests with gourmet breakfasts and lots of goodies. We are history buffs, especially the Lewis & Clark period. The cabins are full of artifacts and historic replicas from Jan's 2004-2006 bicentennial trip to the Pacific Ocean in a keelboat to commemorate the Lewis & Clark journey of 1804-1806.
This property has a peace and tranquility that is hard to find. Wildlife abounds. The front porch provides a great view of the lake. The creek is just a few steps away where you can go wading or explore the waterfall.
Everybody loves our breakfasts (available on weekends)! So will you! Walking around the property to see the creek, lake and wildlife like deer, fox, ducks, geese, herons and turtles is worth the visit. The window seat offers a great place to read or rest.
