The cabin was beautiful and super clean. Very quite and beautiful view of the lake. Near everything you need swimming hiking and shops. Will be back next year for sure
Property was nice went to north conway to fish conway lake only complaint was grill was dirty and couldnt find a brush to clean drive way was very tight dor a boat trailer
Overlook was an experience like a step back in time. The spotless, well cared for property evoked a 1940's cabin with stone fireplace and knotty pine interior.
Very welcoming hosts, Donna and Steve.
This was a cozy little cabin in the woods with the pleasure of some sunshine by the water. Yet still close enough to shopping, good food and attractions too! Clean and accommodating. Donna and Steve are so kind and responsive! Hope to come back again!
This property was great, off in the woods a step to the lake! So much to do, kayaking, hiking, just being a tourist, such a wonderful experience, thanks for listing this gorgeous place! Would definitely recommend!
This was our 3rd stay at Overlook and it never disappoints. The location is perfect and quiet and close to many attractions.our dog got to see her little chipmunk friends as she sat by the front door daily! Until next timeâŠ
We really enjoyed our stay at the overlook. Hiking on the sunny days and staying in and playing board games on the rainy ones, the weather was a non factor on our enjoyment. The cabin was just the right size, very cozy and well supplied. We were more than thrilled to be able to bring our dog along with us for this adventure. Will definitely be looking to book again in the future.
The cabin was great for my children, husband, and I. It exceeded my expectations and Had everything we needed and was close enough to everything in town and other places. It was super quiet and inviting. We didnât spend time at the lake at all, but the atmosphere was very relaxing as far as the little yard area out back of the cabin. Donna was really responsive as well and made everything easy. I will definitely stay here again with my family.
My husband and I like to stay in small cabins when we go away. This one was just what we were looking for. Very cozy. Had everything we needed. Well maintained and clean. I'm sure we will be back!
Location was excellent and the Cabin was Clean, Cute and Cozy. Located close to town but very private nestled in the pines. The owner Donna was Kind and very receptive, great communication. My husband and I visited the near by town of North Conway and saw the train station, We also had the opportunity to hike and see the most beautiful waterfalls in the area. Local Resturants had great food, and our pet Schaunzer had a great time.
The house was well kept, with all the necessities provided (sans sheets) and very accommodating owners. Donna was willing to let us tie our rowboat to their dock while they were there, but we were a bit surprised to find that the public beach was a half mile walk away down a relatively busy road. All in all, we had a great stay, and it was worth every penny.
This was our 2nd visit to Overlook with our dog Rizzo. It is a very relaxing get away, so convenient to many amenities. Shopping, eating, hiking, running and just getting away from the rat race!
The cottage is very homey and exactly how the pictures lookâŠit has become an annual trek with our pup..canât wait to return.

Donna was lovely, easy communication, and contactless entry. There was an A/C which was a great relief as it was over 90F when we arrived. Cabin was clean and comfortable, kids loved the bunkbeds. Stove and fridge were in nice working order, we do a lot of food prep in due to allergies. We used the cabin as a home base as we went out to hike and see natural beauty. Would recommend. Thank you.
My husband and I and our dog Rizzo just returned from a 4 nite stay at the Overlook. Everything is exactly as it appears in the pictures...quaint and comfortable! We hiked every day and used Donna and Steveâs kayak, which was fun. We went out to dinner but also cooked 1 nite in the cottage. When we were inside the cottage, Rizzo could be found at the front door looking for her critter friends, chipmunks and squirrels!
The funny part about this location was 32 yrs ago my daughter and her dad rented a similar cottage in what was the Hill Cottages, which coincidentally is the exact location of the Overlook! It is a perfect location to many restaurants, shopping, hiking etc. You wonât be disappointed when staying here!

Avoid unless you like sleeping in layers of dust and animal hair
Normally we enjoy staying in cabins but didn't last 24 hours at this place. Ended up packing the car back up at 1:00am and driving 3 hours home to get away from it. My kid could barely breath in the house. There was dust and animal hair everywhere, especially in the furniture and mattresses. Was absolutely disgusting.
Disputing charges on my credit card now for failure to provide a habitable place. Owner refusing to refund full amount.
I rented this cabin for my mom & aunt who are in their 80s and my sister in her 60s. I & my other siblings rented places in Conway for their familes as well the same week. My mom, aunt and sister were looking forward to spending time at a secluded cabin in the woods and on the lake as well as having me & my siblings over to visit.
Pro: Donna was wonderful to interact with ahead of time and said that they could borrow her kayak and have direct access to the lake. She also let me know her family would be using the main house for the beginning part of the week.
Con: Several interactions during the stay with Donna's husband who was not as welcoming and accomodating.
Pro: The cabin was just as they'd imagined, all wood, with a screened in porch, cozy, clean and stocked with beach chairs, games, books, even candy and dog biscuits, a nice touch.
Cons: The cabin is not in the woods per se. It is in a neighborhood located behind a large house where the Gillis family was staying, within a neighborhood of even larger houses that are part of an association.
There were rules imposed by the owners, neighbors, and association about parking (only 2 cars allowed & no street parking) and lake access (no swimming allowed even when the main house was unoccupied).
The walk to the public beach in the heat was tougher than expected for this elderly trio.
Due to the lack of parking it was not really possible to host the family here, and our gatherings had to happen at the other rentals. We did have one afternoon game session but were told by the owner parking more than two cars would not be allowed in the future.
Pro: Convenient Conway location just minutes drive from the siblings. Being able to put in kayaks right from the house was much appreciated and the best part of the stay.
As far as suggestions for the host, I'd make the cabin location and parking & lake access rules a bit more clear in the description and photos. The cabin is set fairly far back from the lake; it would be good to replace the 3 photos of the lake taken from the beachfront in front of the main house with instead one showing the view from the porch of the cabin which overlooks the main house and has a glimpse of the lake.
We came up to NH from RI for Thanksgiving with our small family. It was great to get away and just chill by the fire. We got some nice snow and it was magical being in that setting during the storm. The cabin stayed cozy and warm the whole time. It was just what we needed. The cabin had everything we needed and we would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice escape.
Extremely comfy, quiet spot in a great location for both touristy and just relaxing activities. Only reason not all 5 stars was that I misunderstood and thought that the beautiful mountain and lake views were able to be seen from the cabin, which they were not. Hosts' husband was very warm, welcoming & gracious. My sweet, sweet 12 year old dog that was with me passed away unexpectedly yesterday, and I'm so glad that we had that last weekend together in a peaceful setting. Oh, and be aware that getting in and out is very challenging even if you're mildly handicapped.
This cottage is located in a quiet community on Conway lake, which is near enough to enjoy what North Conway has to offer. It is clean and cozy, comfortable for a small family or 4 adults and though it does not have the amenities that a hotel has it is clean, comfortable and affordable.
