The Fold | A Tucked-Away 2 Bedroom Retreat In Buckinghamshire

Unwind & have fun at this beautiful tucked-away retreat, on a farm in Buckinghamshire.

The Fold is a welcoming annex - part of Barefoot Barn, our family home & self build project designed with Feng Shui.

The Fold has its own dedicated garden & patio overlooking the goat paddock & long uninterrupted views of the countryside. It’s designed with a comforting, stylish & peaceful quality, and everything you need for a relaxing & memorable break away with grounding easy walks directly into the farm.

The space
The entrance to The Fold is through its own garden gate, and a short meandering path to the glazed front door. The garden and patio are equipped with outdoor seating and dining spaces overlooking the fields.

The main door opens up to an open plan ground floor with a gorgeous kitchen, rustic dining table and dresser. The space has an eclectic enchanting quality. The kitchen is equipped with a Range Master oven, fridge freezer, washing machine, small dishwasher, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. We always top up the coffee pods and tea caddy for guests!

The lounge area is a beautiful clay pink Loaf sofa, work from home fold down desk space, TV and games and puzzles. The lounge enjoys uninterrupted views to the fields and surrounding countryside, leading out onto the patio.

The stairs is open plan to the ground floor, and leads to a quaint landing with 2 bedrooms and a kids den.

Bedroom One has a kingsize bed, with views overlooking the fields and built in wardrobes, comfy chair and pretty Danish dresser. All the beds are made up with white linen natural look bedding and bed throws.

Bedroom two has 2 single beds which are designed in a way that they can be zipped together to form a superking bed if desired. This bedroom also had built in wardrobes, comfy chair and chest of drawers. This bedroom overlooks the goat shed and driveway.

From the landing you will find a large sliding door to a small bathroom with double sized shower, WC, rustic vanity and a heated towel rail.

The landing has a unique pull out ladder that leads to a ‘crawl in’ kids den in the ceiling area. This ladder is quite high, but has foot grips and handles. The den is a fun compact space, with a very low ceiling height. The space is about 1.3m high in the centre but lower at the edges. It’s designed as a fun, memorable play area with blackboard nooks, books and lego. The net that overlooks the landing allows children to look down but still be incredibly safe and the entrance to the den has a small sliding door which can be shut to feel extra safe. The den is equipped with a double futon, and could be slept in if desired. There are plug spaces in the den so devices can be used and charged.


IN THE AREA:
Silverstone racing 25 minutes (12 miles away).
Walking distance to village pub in Great Horwood called The Swan.
Some really nice pubs within a short 5 - 15 min drive.
Winslow is the local town with excellent deli and shops.
Buckingham has supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants.
National Trust - Stowe Gardens 15 mins.
National Trust Whaddeson Manor 35 mins.
Bicester village 30 mins away.
Milton Keynes is 20 mins away and has lots of activities from a cinema to theatre and indoor ski slope.
Oxford is 45 minute drive to the park and ride.
Addington Equestrian Centre 10 minutes.
Bletchley Park 15 mins.
Woburn Safari Park 35 mins.
Fast trains to London from Milton Keynes or Bletchley.
Horwood House hotel, conference centre and wedding venue is just a 5 -10 minute drive away.

Guest access
Guests have full private use of their own garden and patio space that has a privacy fence to the rear. Public footpaths are across the farm can be enjoyed and Guests are also free to roam the fields and private walk around the large pond, with a jetty and bench area.

Other things to note
There is plenty of private parking, but please note this also our driveway so we will be driving in and out and around and about. We are extremely grateful for guests staying and always respect privacy.

We live on the farm with our children in Barefoot Barn and my live parents in the brick house opposite ours (Abbey Farm) which you can see in the aerial photos. You might hear or see us outside.
