Luxury Coastal Cottage with Harbour Views

Summary:

CURATED PROPERTY PRESENTS: A graceful 5-bedroom coastal property above Mevagissey harbour, sleeping 10 (or up to 12 with optional sofa beds, by prior arrangement). Penpol has its own private gardens with sweeping harbour views, all five bedrooms en-suite, and an Aga kitchen at the heart of the home. Quieter and more pared-back than its bigger sister Polpier, which sits in the same grounds and can be booked separately or together for larger gatherings. Dogs welcome.



The Space:

The three main bedrooms are spread over the upper floors. Bedroom 1 has a super-king bed and en-suite. Bedroom 2 is a super-king or twin with two additional luxury single sofa beds available on request (extra fee), with en-suite. Bedroom 3 is a super-king or twin with en-suite. All bedrooms are upstairs.



Bedrooms 4 & 5 are accessed below within the Garden Cottage, each with en-suite Bedroom 4 has a king bed whilst Bedroom 5 is either super-king or twin.



The country-style kitchen and dining room sits at the heart of the home, with a four-oven electric Aga, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and an iPod dock as part of the Bose radio. The dining table comfortably seats 10. There are two large 42" TVs, a DVD player with DVDs, and a comfortable sitting room.



Outside, the gardens have plenty of room to stretch out, with terrace seating for 10 for al fresco dining and a dedicated BBQ area. The large gas BBQ (gas provided) is available April to end of September. Step-free access into the property and across the ground floor, with a ground floor WC.



Guest Access:

Guests have exclusive use of the house and its gardens. Included: linen, towels and essentials, tea and coffee for arrival, Wi-Fi, washing machine and tumble dryer. One travel cot and one highchair are available (please bring your own cot bedding). DVDs for children.



The Neighborhood:

Penpol perches above Mevagissey, a working fishing harbour 5 miles south of St Austell. Coastal paths from either end of the village lead to sandy beaches at Polstreath and Portmellon. The Fountain Inn does excellent seafood, The Ship Inn is the spot for pub food and navy-strength gin, the Crown Inn is dog-friendly, and Salamander does small plates well. Tiny Portuguese spot Alvorada is worth booking ahead. Lobb's Farm Shop is great for fresh meat.



For days out: The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project, Carlyon Bay Spa, Knightor Winery and Restaurant, Twilight Escape Rooms, St Austell Golf Course, The Tide Climbing Centre, and Cornwall Watersports. With children: Cornwall Surf Academy, the Shipwreck Treasure Museum, Carnglaze Caverns, Screech Owl Sanctuary, and the World of Model Railways.



Getting Around:

Mevagissey is a working fishing harbour and best explored on foot. The pubs, harbour, shops, and restaurants are all a short walk down the hill. Walk to the beach via coastal paths from either end of the village. To explore wider Cornwall you'll want a car, with parking on site for 10+ vehicles. Taxis are available locally.



Nearest train station: St Austell, 15 minutes by car (6 miles), with direct services from London Paddington (around 4.5 hours).



Nearest airport: Newquay, 45 minutes by car.



EV charging is not available at the property; the nearest charge point is Willow Car Park, Valley Road, Mevagissey, PL26 6SB.



Other Things to Note:

Please note: there's an uncovered 30cm-deep pond in the Chapel Garden behind a closed gate, please keep the gate shut and supervise children. Dogs welcome at £50 per dog (pet policy in place). Hen parties welcome. Sorry, no fireworks. Noise policy in place. Check-in 5pm, check-out 9am. Refundable cautionary deposit of £1,000.



Polpier next door, with its heated pool, tennis court, gazebo, disco, and games room, is a separate property with its own listing. The two can be booked together as the full estate for groups of up to 28.

Curated Property does not own the Property but acts as an agent for the Owner by taking and arranging bookings for the Property. On booking confirmation, contract will be formed between You and the Owner.



Interaction with Guests:

We will be on hand during your stay to make your stay more enjoyable however we will also give you privacy. You will be given the number of the housekeeper when you book who will arrange check in and look after you during your stay.
