House Sleeps 12 with Parking and Garden
Luxury Victorian Property in a Peaceful Rural Setting
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Retreat in style where Newcastle meets County Durham, perfectly positioned between vibrant city life and the countryside. Enjoy scenic walks, local attractions, and total relaxation in this beautifully restored Victorian home—ideal for families, friends, and their furry companions (maximum of 2 pets).
With attractions right on your doorstep, you can explore the historic Beamish Museum, the steam-powered Tanfield Railway, and the stunning Causey Arch woods.
The Space
Mount Cottage is a luxury holiday home offering a spacious and comfortable base for large family gatherings or getaways with friends.
Enter through the front door into an impressive hallway, leading to a fantastic games room complete with a pool table, smart TV, log burner, bar area, and comfortable leather sofa. From here, continue into the expansive open-plan living area and contemporary kitchen, perfect for socialising and relaxing.
On the first floor, you’ll find four beautifully presented bedrooms. Three feature ensuite wet rooms, while the super king master suite includes a separate 12-jet jacuzzi bath. There is also a family bathroom with a luxurious slipper-style bath.
The second floor offers an additional king-size bedroom with ensuite, along with a twin bedroom—ideal for larger groups.
Guest Access
Guests can enjoy a delightful enclosed courtyard-style patio, featuring a raised covered pond, water feature, garden furniture, and a barbecue—perfect for alfresco dining and drinks.
At the front of the property, there is a charming terraced garden and patio area with seating, where you can relax, watch the sunset, and even hear the whistle of the nearby steam train as it passes through the trees.
Other Things to Note
We operate on a first-served basis with no dynamic pricing—no increased rates during school holidays, just consistent, great value all year round.
The property is set in the countryside, overlooking fields of sheep and cows, yet it’s only a 5-minute drive to local amenities including Asda, Aldi, Co-op, and Tesco.
There are numerous pubs nearby, including two just a 2-minute walk away, with several more within a 15-minute walk—all serving real ales.
