Peace and quiet in a comfortable and spacious farmhouse in the southern Lot

Set on a gentle hillside with a wonderful view of the tranquil and unspoilt vallley of the Grande Barguelonne, La Borde Basse is the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Big ground floor rooms with tiled floors and thick stone walls keep the house cool in hot weather, and the airy well-equipped kitchen is big enough for more than one cook! Upstairs are five good-sized bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Outside there are three terraces for outdoor relaxing and eating. The 5 x 10 m salt water pool is a real sun trap. It is surrounded by stone walls with a security gate, and offers a safe environment for small children with wide shallow steps down to the water. The house is surrounded by 3 ha of private garden, meadow and woodland with plenty of room to play. For older children (of all ages) there is table-tennis, mini-football and a pétanque pitch.

This is La France Profonde, the heart of the traditonal French countryside, with a focus on agriculture and wine production. Less than 3 km away the attractive bastide village of Castelnau-Montratier offers a good selection of shops and facilities, a Sunday morning market, and a produce market with live music on Wednesday evenings in the summer (very popular with our guests). A wider range of shops and restaurants can be found in Cahors (24 km), as well as the famous mediaeval Pont Valentré and boat trips on the Lot river. For both children and adults there are plenty of other fascinating places to visit and fun activities to enjoy in the local area, including kayaking on the river Aveyron, golf and go-karting within 20 minutes (but not in the same place!), tennis, and boating on an underground river.
