The center of Tavira is slightly more than a 30-minute stroll, or easy 3 km bike ride from this bright, clean, and recently renovated ground-floor home.



The sunlit home is tucked away on an ancient cobblestone street. The walls are whitewashed, the doorways are painted sky blue, and the roof tiles are traditional red clay.

The interior decor is stylish, yet rustic, simple, and authentically Mediterranean. Everything about the ambiance is poetic and harmonious, including whitewashed walls and organic, eco-friendly materials such as a traditional cane ceiling and true handmade terracotta tile flooring. The open floor plan kitchen/living/dining space makes this ground-floor home spacious and inviting.







Living:

The foyer of the home has plenty of natural light, a cane chair, and a beautiful antique chest with extra linens, blankets, towels, and supplies. The living area has a white loveseat with a colorful, handwoven covering. A rustic wooden hutch elegantly displays decorative dishware, stoneware, bowls, and vases. Simple wooden coffee tables and end tables offer a convenient spot to place your glass of wine or charcuterie board, as you relax with a good book, or sit to plan the day’s itinerary.







Kitchen/Dining:

This stylish, fully-equipped kitchen has high ceilings, white wood cabinets, open shelving, polished butcher block-style wooden countertops, a white, French farmhouse-style sink, and appliances including a vented two-burner electric range, a microwave, a compact fridge, and a dishwasher. A clerestory window infuses the cooking space with natural light.

Other kitchen essentials include a kettle, a French press, a drip coffee maker, a toaster, spices, and a chef’s caliber knife block. Dishware, glassware, cookware, and utensils are all provided.

A white wooden dining table seats two, and is illuminated by a window overlooking the charming cobblestone streets and colorful village facades. Two rustic, woven rattan pendant chandeliers light the dining table and living area. Sip your morning bica or fresh-squeezed citrus juice. Enjoy chourico, Bolinhos de Bacalhau, Queijo da Serra, or savor locally grown fresh fruit such as melons, figs, and strawberries.

Casa Formosa has WiFi. The kitchen table can serve as a work desk for those who are working here.







Bedrooms/Baths:

The thoughtfully-designed bedroom has a queen bed, a built-in bookshelf at the head of the bed, and sleek bedside reading lamps. At the foot of the bed is a distressed vintage wooden chest with extra quilts, pillows, and bedding. The bedroom and luxurious bedding have warm neutral colors and earth tones.

To one side of the room is a beautiful wooden clothing rack complete with hangers, shelving, and storage baskets. One square, shuttered window illuminates the reading corner of the bedroom, which has a plush chair, a sky-blue wooden desk, and a pendant lamp the color of glazed terracotta.

The bathroom has a walk-in, white-tiled shower with a luxurious waterfall shower head. Rounding out the space is a single, raised-sink vanity and a commode. Bathroom toiletries, towels, hairdryer, etc, all hang on an arrangement of hooks along an exposed natural wood beam. The home has a washing machine.







Outdoor Amenities:

Casa Formosa is just a few meters from the estuary and downtown, as well as the historic center. Free street parking is available.
