à propos de cet hébergement
Owl Barn - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Escape to Owl Barn, surrounded by stunning rural views and miles of open countryside where you can breathe in the fresh air, gaze at the big skies, and enjoy wonderful walks from the doorstep. This pet-friendly, single-storey barn has been lovingly refurbished to provide guests with a spacious, open-plan living space, taking every advantage of the spectacular views from the many floor to ceiling windows and doors. Situated close to the village of Farnborough, just inside Warwickshire, but bordering Oxfordshire, 6 miles from Banbury on the northern corner of the Cotswolds and approximately 30 minutes from Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon and historic Warwick Castle.
Accessed via half a mile of private driveway through farmland, this former donkey sanctuary was transformed in 2020 into the warm and inviting holiday retreat found today. Lovers of wildlife will delight at the sight of wild deer, foxes, red kites, buzzards and, of course, the resident barn owl who inspired the property's name.
Inside this spacious barn, an inner entrance porch introduces you to the vast open-plan L-shaped living area with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Large oak-framed picture windows and bi-folding doors flood the space with natural daylight and effortlessly connect the comfort of the indoors with the surrounding countryside and those breath-taking views. The impressive kitchen and dining area dominates one end of the barn, with an enormous granite island (with electric Neff hob and sink with instant boiling water tap) creating a stunning focal point. The island hides away the dishwasher and a range of deep drawers for storage, and a wall of sleek kitchen units conceals various useful appliances including a fridge freezer and double electric oven. Bi-folding doors at the rear open to steps down to the terrace, and large lawned garden, with orchard beyond. Occupying the centre of the U-shaped barn is the bright and airy sitting room, with dual aspect floor to ceiling picture windows, comfy sofas and a Smart television for family down-time in the evenings. At the far end of the barn are a cloakroom/WC, two bedrooms and the family bathroom. The principal bedroom, features a vaulted ceiling and a large, corner floor to ceiling picture window, perfect for enjoying the morning view with a cup of tea in bed. Bedroom two, again with vaulted ceiling has twin single beds and a television. Both bedrooms have use of the generous family bathroom complete with large corner bath and a separate double walk-in rainfall shower, along with a second w/c and wash basin, and a heated towel rail in addition to the underfloor heating which runs throughout the property.
Outside, a gravel and paved terrace with garden furniture is perfectly positioned to enjoy the views (a second seating area with barbecue will be available from summer 2026). A shallow pond/marshland area encourages even more wildlife to this special location. The large garden wraps around the property and continues down to a paddock. Taking a walk across the fields for approximately 40 minutes will bring you to the village pub for your reward.
There's something for everyone in and around the area; the pretty village of Farnborough boasts its very own National Trust property, Farnborough Hall; and is approximately 30 minutes from Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon for culture, shopping and dining; historic Coventry Cathedral and Warwick Castle will thrill all ages with jousting displays and family fun events through the year. Petrol heads will be delighted to discover the Silverstone Circuit, just 25 miles away. The village of Cropredy is nearby, holding the annual Fairpoint Convention Festival. Owl Barn is centrally located, making it ideal for meeting up with family and friends, and both London and Birmingham can be reached by train within an hour from Banbury station.
Additional Information:
Three well-behaved dogs welcome(small additional charge). If you have more dogs, please enquire. Please keep dogs off the furniture and do not allow them in the bedrooms. Thank you in advance.
