À propos de cet hébergement

Spring Barn, Chipping Norton - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

Spring Barn is surrounded by beautiful countryside, tucked away at the end of a lane which winds its way through the fields. Hidden within its thick stone walls, where hay was once stored, and sheep took shelter from the weather, you'll now find a modern, rural escape offering every creature comfort. The symmetry of this solid stone barn is both welcoming and pleasing to the eye.

Huge glass doors reveal an open-plan living space with stone flooring and a part-vaulted ceiling, whilst full-height doors on the opposite wall offer a glimpse of the view beyond, as well as access to the patio and garden. The suspended fireplace in the corner is a discreetly modern and contemporary addition to the living room. There's a sleek and stylish kitchen and dining area which makes eating a pleasure, and there's also a handy ground-floor cloakroom. Upstairs, a glass balustrade enhances the sense of light and space and leads to two comfortable bedrooms and a bathroom.

Surrounding the barn, there's a large, private garden and a patio where you can enjoy outside dining, morning coffee in the fresh air, or perhaps sneak in an indulgent sunny afternoon hammock-sized snooze. There's an open-fronted garage, plenty of parking and a paddock with grazing sheep and horses directly beyond the garden.

*Dogs: 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.

Ground Floor

Open Plan Living Area:
Large glass doors lead into the spacious living room with stone flooring and plenty of seating for four, with two, two-seater sofas and a pair of easy chairs. The dry stone chimney breast forms a real focal point, as does the contemporary, suspended wood-burning fireplace. Spotlights that can be dimmed for a gentler glow dot the ceiling, and there's a Smart TV and plenty of books, covering a variety of genres.

Kitchen/Dining Room:
The monochrome colours of the kitchen-dining room are a perfect representation of the natural tones that can be found throughout the barn, and this is a sleek and well-appointed space. Black granite surfaces sit on top of mid-grey cupboards, and you'll find all the practical equipment needed including a full-size dishwasher, fridge and freezer plus a full oven and a gas hob. A dark wood dining table with two benches gives ample seating for four guests. There's a door to the rear hall/boot room which has a stable door, coat hooks and a welly rack where you can dry outdoor gear after countryside rambles, plus the utility cupboard, which houses the washing machine.

Cloakroom:
This handy space is in the rear hall/boot room and has a WC, hand basin, vanity storage unit and a large mirror.

First Floor

A wooden staircase with a sisal runner, handrail and glass stair panel leads up to the first floor. At the top, the galleried landing looks down from a glass balustrade to the living room below. The high, vaulted ceiling ensures this area feels light and spacious.

Bedroom One:
After all the fresh country air you're sure to sleep like a baby in this peaceful bedroom. A comfy king-size bed lies beneath a roof light (there is a pull-down blind), reading lamp-topped bedside tables stand on either side of the bed and there's a window to the side with views over the Swere Valley. Built-in wardrobes ensure there is lots of storage, whilst roof beams add character.

Bedroom Two:
The second of the two bedrooms is an inviting twin, with a pair of wooden single beds and a small occasional table with a reading lamp which sits between the two, acting as a bedside table for both. With a roof light and a large window, this room feels bright and cheerful. There are built-in wardrobes and a button-back occasional chair, where you can curl up with one of the many classic children's books found throughout the barn. Step through the wardrobe into Narnia or maybe take a stroll through the 100-acre wood with Winne the Pooh.

Bathroom:
Sitting between the two bedrooms is the modern bathroom, home to a double-ended bath with a shower above it, which is just perfect for lazy soaks after a day of exploring. There's also a hand basin and WC and a large mirror. Natural light comes from the roof light.

Outside

The post and rail fence which lines the driveway draws the eye to the sturdy, simple lines of the barn. The gravel driveway provides lots of parking, and you can drive right up to the door. The garden wraps around Spring Barn, flanked on one side by hedgerows and to the other by a paddock in which you'll often see grazing sheep and a horse or two. To the rear of the house is a stone patio with a wooden table and two benches and a cantilevered parasol. During the warmer months, there's also a double canvas deckchair and a hammock. The countryside views are simply beautiful with nothing but trees and fields and the Swere Valley in the distance.

June stay at Spring Barn

Great location for exploring the Cotswolds. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by lovely countryside, with pubs and a decent village shop just a short distance away in Hook Norton. It's a beautiful property, generally finished and maintained to a high standard. The only downsides were a lack of a microwave in the kitchen and the beds in second bedroom were a little on the hard side.

An excellent stay.

We stayed at Spring Barn for two weeks. My wife had just had an operation to repair a broken ankle and the owners of the property were kind enough to bring down a bed from upstairs. The property is perfectly situated for exploring the Cotswolds while being a haven of peace and quiet. Chipping Norton is a ten minute drive away. We will be back!

Great house in the middle of a beautiful field

We were looking for a calm and relaxing holidays in the countryside with our kids and we had a lovely stay. We were sorrounded with sheeps and my kids loved to be outside everyday running around and exploring. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was big enough to cook almost every night and had dinner with the family. The only thing I would suggest is to have a microwave, it would be very useful, especially with kids when you need to warm up milk etc… I would highly recommend this place and even though it is a bit isolated it is ideal for someone who wants to have time to disconnect.

Super quiet out away from anything. Big sky and frosty mornings.

Really good communication prior to our stay - and the place had been opened up and the heating turned on before we arrived. Definitely use what 3 words to find the accommodation, easier than Google Maps we found. Some tourist information supplied. Full kitchen. Steepish narrow stairs to the bedrooms (all upstairs), so could potentially be an issue for elderly. Flagstones at the door also a little slippery when icy. No issues for us, but provided as information for less steady travellers. Nice to have the chance to relax in front of a fire, though more kindling/intermediate-sized wood would have helped get it going. Nice to be a bit away from the usual towns to stay in. Obviously requires own transport to get there and to get around from there. A good base for us for our short stay in the Cotswalds. Would stay again.

A short stay

Overall a good property in a lovely location. Kitchen is a little tired and there was a shortage of implements, bring your own corkscrew, foil, and kitchen roll. Aside from this, the property is perfect for a short stay.

A wonderful country retreat

Completely secluded with far reaching views. A fabulous fire, great heating and a comfortable bed with all the mod cons. Perfect for escaping for a few days and enjoying the isolation.

Beautiful and relaxing

Loved our stay at this property, views were beautiful and the place clean. Very quiet location. Liked the fact that we were secluded, we didn’t want the standard type of accommodation with other guests close to us. The property has underfloor heating downstairs which was very useful in winter. It was also well insulated as we have below zero temperatures outside. Was so nice to have treats left for us as well upon arrival, very thoughtful. We would definitely return. Thank you

Lovely stay at Spring Barn

An absolutely beautiful house and beautiful location. We had a really lovely stay and loved waking up to the countryside views and endless walks. Easily walkable to lovely Hook Norton on footpaths. We had two small issues, one was with the cleanliness of the house - when we arrived there was mouse droppings in the kitchen cupboards. The other, the heating was completely off before arrival and as the heating is underfloor heating, it takes a very long time to heat up, therefore it was really very cold for the first evening at the house. We contacted the house keeper and her service was excellent, she came straight out and rectified the issue with the mouse droppings so no complaints there. We would definitely stay again as the house is just stunning. Our dogs and family loved it.

Amazing stay at Spring Barn

Stayed for 3 nights. Fantastic location in the middle of fields but close enough to major town like chipping Norton. It is a bit remote and you will definitely need a car. The last bit to the cottage is partially paved. Cottage itself is Well furnished and comfortable with all the required items for a self catering stay. Would recommend a proper cutting knife and a dish scrub and a few extra firm pillows. Layout is really good for a family or group of friends. We loved the loving area with its multiple sofas and center table - this was good for evening games and chilling. Neighboring field has some animals which are friendly esp the horse! Night time sky views are amazing! Definitely one that we will return too.

Idyliic situation

Idyllic situation surrounded by gorgeous country side, horses and sheep. Modern beautifully finished barn with lovely interior and modern kitchen. A couple of points to make it totally perfect. Kitchen could do with a few more trays for the oven and few more kitchen equipment. The hob, splashback and cooker hood were not totally clean but the housekeeper Nikki sorted it immediately was super helpful with the TV and left me a box of chocos. Bolthole Retreat you are lucky to have her. Super efficient. Loved this place would stay forever
