We absolutely loved our time in the chalet. It was so cozy & has the most beautiful views. The owner has done a wonderful job with the landscaping outdoors & there are so many sweet touches inside to make you feel at home. We will treasure our memories from our stay & we hope to visit again.
We needed a place to stay to attend my fathers memorial service. The chalet was perfect. Loved the view and all the special touches that made the place so homey and comfortable.
The cottage is a perfect small place that can handle both small families or large crowds. It is very well stocked and has the necessary amenities that make for a comfortable stay.
We loved the location! It was close to quite a few lakes and hiking trails. We enjoyed the sitting on the front porch in the afternoons and the house had plenty of room for our family of 5.
Great place to stay for a central location to do hikes and such. Private and relatively quiet. You can hear the cars on 30 but it's not bad at all. Lots of room. Beautiful scenery. Great deck to hang out on. Perfect place to come back to after a day out and about.
The house is very cozy, with a beautiful view. if you want to spend a few days in peace and quiet, I recommend this house. The hostess is always in touch.
We really liked this house. We had a good rest, it's very beautiful here. You can sit on the veranda and admire the beautiful view of the mountains. Thanks a lot.
My family and I rented in early March 2020 so that we could see some snow, and we were not disappointed. The chalet's location put us near ideal hiking and viewing areas, and the views from the cabin were outstanding. The cabin was three levels, with plenty of room for the seven of us, and the wood stove kept us warm with minimal need for the baseboard heat. Temperatures dipped to the teens overnight, but we were all cozy. Can't wait for a return trip!
This chalet was glorious overall. The views are unmatched and the ability to go pretty much any where in the Adirondack park within 1-2 hours is perfect. The kitchen could use some upgraded equipment and the deck needs some attention but neither of those things outweigh how great it was. I addressed these issues with the owner and hopefully they will be rectified. We will be back!
Charming. Spacious while feeling cozy too. Fully equipped.
Easy to say this chalet has become our getaway destination, having stayed there in August and October. Setting sights for summer 2018. Continue to be amazed at how well stocked the chalet and its accompanying lean-to is. Roberta has accounted for every opportunity that could present itself, from indoor comforts to camping/hiking gear and more. Waking each day to a gorgeous sunrise view of the mountains was breathtaking and serene.
This was a great location. Kinda in the middle of the Adirondacks so anywhere you wanted to go was an easy trip. The chalet was cozy and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The weather was typical fall weather with some rain, sun, and a chill in the air. This did not stop us from hanging on the deck to take in the dramatic show of the clouds scraping across the mountain tops. If you're looking for a central location, but someplace you want to hang out in between adventures, then this is the place.
We stayed at this home for 16 days in the early fall...it was a great place to use as a base to explore the area. We hiked, paddled, swam, took a boat tour of Long Lake, went on a seaplane ride...and even attended a Moose Calling contest :). The home's central location makes it perfect if you want to explore that region of the Adirondacks. It's a comfortable home with a lot of charm and character, and the spectacular views from the back porch are to die for! There's even a really neat fire pit and lean-to just down the hill from the house...you feel like you're out in the wilderness, even though the home is just a few steps away! Roberta (the owner) was very responsive to any needs or concerns. We would definitely return here.
This cabin is set in a beautiful wild flower garden with wonderfully tended grounds and amazing mountain views! Our family had a great time exploring the property and the lakes around it. Absolutely gorgeous property! The cabin on the main floor was perfect, however my family could not use the first floor at all. The musty smell, although we opened all windows doors and fans were on...did not disappear. :(
My brother had a full on asthma attack trying to sleep down there. No worries, he is ok! Overall, a great time!
We spent a long winter weekend at Lake Indian. The cottage is very cozy, functional for a group of up to 8, in a bucolic setting with wonderful views of the mountains. When we came in the evening the thermostat was on low and the house was very cold. Temperature outside was around minus 15 F. first night was spent under several duvets. Next day as the heating got underway was warm and nice. The sandstone fire place added both charm and heat! We cooked dinners and although kitchen equipment was old, everything worked fine. We even made a curling surface on the small pond by a lean-to and made an outdoor fire, gazing at stars and dreaming of staying forever. We will definitely come back!
Roberta, the property owner, was awesome from the start. Immediate replies to emails and information before it was requested.
The cabin is roomie with cozy corners. If you go with a crowd there would still be areas to sit and chill for a bit before you rejoin the laughter and fun.
The lean-to and fire pit are a bonus. Tucked away in a remote area of the yard it offers a nice area to sit, converse, listen to the night sounds and roast marshmallows ( who doesn't love marshmallows!?).
The views from the deck are remarkable - the mountains in the distance, the yard left to wild plus the vast expanse of sky - simply stunning.
There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, especially if enjoying all that nature has to offer is what you like. Beaches and boat rentals on the lake, plenty of mountain trails to hike, the Adirondack Experience ( a museum of all things Adirondack with plenty of hands on or interactive exhibits). It's great for adults and kids alike.
We look forward to visiting in the winter, snowshoes in tow, to see what adventures can be found in the ice and snow. Would we go back? A loud, resounding - YES!
We are repeat customers.
My husband and friends and 1 dog loved our stay.
My siblibgs and their families rented nearby and came to visit.
The Indian Ridge Chalet is in a great location to the center of town (Indian Lake) down the road and routes leading to other attractions.
Roomy and has multiple bathrooms.
My only suggestion - If you plan to come when it's really warm - you might want to bring more fans with you - the house does get full sun.
Definitely will look to return.

Our Indian Lake camping/fishing/hiking family purchased Indian Ridge Chalet, an all-year-round vacation house because we wanted to be able to go up for "white water" rafting in the spring, cross-country (Garnet Hill), downhill (Gore Mountain), snow-mobiling and spectacular fall foliage This area has something to do every season, pristine lakes everywhere, a Town skating rink up the hill, boating and biking plus the world acclaimed Adirondack Museum (regional museum) in a part of our town called Blue Mountain Lake (part of Indian Lake) .
It is user friendly, especially for extended families as it can accommodate 10 adults plus a few kids!? It is well equipped and furnished without being slick and fussy. Had a Connecticut sculptor do an "Adirondack Wildlife Totem Pole" from a troubled spruce tree stump about 14 feet tall at entry-way. A wild meadow garden is part of the entry path. The property is on one of the Designated Views in the Park, It is private, yet easy access to Town. The picnic area has a small "farm" pond for the wildlife with an authentic Adirondack lean-to, picnic table, and fire-pit with wood provided.
The mountain views from the Chalet are quite exceptional. (The Bullhead Mountain Range and Siamese Pond Wilderness area) Central location in the ADIRONDACK PARK. ( The largest public park in the USA). We are about 40 minutes from Lake George (lots to do and see there) and about 1.5 hour drive to the Lake Placid area . Local lakes are Indian Lake (canoe and boat rentals and super camping areas), Lewey Lake, Adirondack Lake, and Lake Abanakee.
