The spacious first-floor lounge/diner houses comfortable sofas and a pretty dining area, with a wood burner adding a cosy touch. French doors with a Juliet balcony overlook the rolling countryside. Lively Bude (5 miles) is famous for its golden sands and has a good range of shops and eateries. The beaches are a magnet for surfers, with calmer waters to be found in the beautiful sea pool on Summerleaze Beach. You can hire a kayak, canoe or pedalo for a peaceful trip down historic Bude Canal or enjoy a stroll down the towpath. Scenic Castle Bude has a fascinating heritage museum, exhibitions, galleries and a cafe. For family fun, head for the Monster Slip and Slide water park and meet the donkeys at picture-postcard Clovelly (11.5 miles).
