à propos de cet hébergement
3-bed Holiday Home-from-Home in Rock, Cornwall with large garden & parking x 2
Fabulous, interior-designer owned, single-storey property with wraparound garden, separate wash house/storage space, massive wraparound decking and a separate, very private terrace, all surrounded by lawns and high hedges. This wonderful outside space and the house's colourful interiors create a real escape in the Cornish countryside within a few minutes' walk of Rock Road and all its shops, pubs and restaurants.
Set in a beautifully landscaped site with other similar, stylish dwellings, Rocksalt boasts the biggest and most private plot, set back from the service road and backing onto a privately owned paddock, with a full hedge and trees between.
The house has state-of-the-art air source heating, great insulation for the cooler months and a large main living area with overhead fans for the warmer ones. Three sets of glazed doors open onto the wraparound decking area, where there is plenty of seating, an all-weather table tennis table and space to relax, exercise and eat or drink al fresco.
Another private terrace area with BBQ/firepit, warm outdoor shower and drying lines mean everything is covered for relaxing at home, or coming back from the beach to flake out in the sun!
A second building contains a sink, third loo, a washing machine, separate tumble dryer, fridge and freezer - great for back-up food and drinks when the white goods in the main kitchen are full! There is also space in here for bags, beach gear and any bikes/surf boards you may bring with you.
The house itself has comfort and style at the forefront of everything. The ideal amount of space for up to 6 adults, there are actually 6 beds: a mixture of king, double and singles, across the three bedrooms, with 4 separate beds in the dorm room, so 4 children could go in there if needs be. That room can also work brilliantly as a twin, with its 2 x small doubles set below the funky toe-to-toe singles!
Each room has a smart TV, so you can always escape and relax away from everyone else, and the bedlinen and mattresses are top-notch - we are often asked where to buy similar! Lovely 'Faith in Nature' shampoos and body washes are there for your use, along with other toiletries and first aid essentials. We provide towels for home and beach. With a fully-stocked kitchen, two washing machines, indoor and outdoor drying racks etc., you should be able to run things as if you have your own home by the sea!
We find that the large garden, with its lawns, decking, garden furniture and 'secret' terrace area, provides you with an opportunity to follow the sun round the house, while still finding shadier places to sit should you so wish. The 'big sky' above and peaceful location of the site make for a real retreat from the slightly more chaotic (though wonderful) estuary-front and beaches. It is always lovely to return 'home' for some peace and comfort after a day on the beach, cliffs, golf course, nearby Padel court, dolphin-watching boat or surfboard!
You are likely run out of time before you run out of things to do in and around Rock - the list is endless but includes:
Pay-and-play golf/swimming/padel/gym/sauna etc. at The Point (1 mile away across the fields),
Cliff walks and beaches along the Camel Estuary, including the spacious and dog-friendly Rock Beach and Daymer Bay; the surfing beach at Polzeath, and the coves at Port Gaverne and Port Quin; Food and Drink establishments galore, in Rock, Padstow and Polzeath, plus places like The Pig Hotel and Lobster Shack at Harlyn, the excellent, inland St Tudy Inn, and the Rocket Store at Boscastle... to name a few!
At certain times of year there are family-friendly Food & Music Festivals (Rock Oyster) and the ever-popular surf and music Boardmasters, you can learn to cook at Rick Stein's Padstow Cookery School, there are a couple of inflatable adventure parks (at Retallack and Adrenaline Quarry) and you can learn to surf at Polzeath or waterski/wakeboard down at the Camel Ski School on The Pontoon at Rock - plus there is a Sailing School for beginners through to keen racers.
Winter is still a wonderful time to visit the coast, with blustery walks followed by pub lunches, fireside board games, both in the house or out at The Mariners or Pityme - our two Rock pubs, and obviously sightseeing at Port Isaac, Tintagel and Bodmin all possible.
Basically we (and lots of our returning guests) feel that Rocksalt is the sort of house you can call home, and one which serves as the perfect base for all things North Cornwall - come and see for yourselves!
