The property, which once served as the home and offices for the then-famous Southwold Salt Works, has been renovated to an exceptional standard. The open-plan kitchen diner is fresh and bright and is a sociable space for the chef of the group to cook up a storm while everyone chats around the table or on the sofa. There are two wonderful sitting rooms; the first, smaller one beckons you to sink into the sofa in front of the wood burner with a good book or a board game that the owners have provided, while the larger one is ideal for chatting with your guests or watching TV before bed. Whichever room you end up in, they’re all furnished with contemporary fittings and peaceful decor to help you drift off to sleep.

The centre of Southwold is less than half a mile away; you must peruse the many unique shops and sample the wares at the bakeries and cafes. Just down the coast, Dunwich Heath (11 miles) is perfect for spotting wildlife including nesting birds. Children will love Camel Park Oasis (15.5 miles) where they can go on a camel ride or llama walk, while history buffs might like a trip to East Anglia Transport Museum (11 miles) and its tram ride.
