The space
Charming Grade II Listed Cottage in the Heart of Historic Faversham
Step into a slice of history with this beautifully preserved - and recently renovated - Grade II listed home, nestled on the iconic Abbey Street â one of the most picturesque streets in Kent, lined with colourful, timber-framed houses that echo centuries past. With its foundations believed to be part of the original 12th-century Inner Gate House of Faversham Abbey, this cottage is steeped in rich history and character.
Inside, youâll find a warm, inviting space full of charm â original beams, quirky details and cosy corners create a unique atmosphere thatâs both historic and homely. Perfect for couples, solo adventurers or small groups looking to reunite for a relaxing retreat.
Step out the door and youâre minutes away from the lively Market Place, with its artisan cafĂ©s, friendly pubs, independent restaurants, record shops, book shop and vintage boutique. On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the town truly comes alive with its thriving street market â one of the oldest in the country â offering fresh local produce, handmade crafts, antiques and delicious street food.
In the other direction lies the peaceful charm of Standard Quay where you will discover antique stalls, a traditional butcher, fishmonger, cheese shop and a delightfully welcoming pub.
Back at the cottage, unwind in your own secluded, mature walled garden â a tranquil oasis perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. Enjoy a BBQ with friends, gather around the fire pit under the stars or relax surrounded by greenery and birdsong.
Favershamâs train station is just a short walk away, putting the seaside town of Whitstable (8.5 miles), the historic city of Canterbury (10 miles), and the creative coastal vibe of Margate (24 miles) all within easy reach for day trips and adventures.
Whether you're here for the history, the food, the local charm or simply a peaceful place to relax this one-of-a-kind cottage offers the perfect base to experience the very best of Faversham and the surrounding Kent coast.
Come and experience the magic of our little corner of Kent â weâd love to welcome you!

Guest access
You will have access to the entire house, although the utility room and one bedroom is locked and private. There are also a few cupboards that are private and are locked in the house - however you have plenty of space everywhere!
---------------------
As with many beautiful historic homes, the cottage comes with a few quirks â including its original staircase. Itâs a little steeper and narrower than modern stairs, with a twist of character (literally!). While this adds to the charm of the property, it may be a bit tricky for guests with limited mobility or very young children.
If youâre unsure whether the stairs will work for your group, feel free to reach out â weâre more than happy to answer any questions.
Other things to note
As this is our family home we kindly ask that guests treat it with the same care and respect they would their own.
To keep things relaxed and neighbourly, we ask that thereâs no noise in the garden between 10:30pm and 7am â itâs a peaceful, secluded spot and weâd love to keep it that way.
Just a quick note: the green space directly in front of our house doesnât belong to us, so please avoid walking across or using it during your stay.
Also, for everyone's comfort, no smoking inside the house.
Parking does requires a parking permit. Donât worryâwe provide daily parking permits for our guests. When booking, just let us know how many cars will be in your group, and weâll make sure you have enough permits for your stay.
Parking is usually easy to find on the street, and sometimes youâll even be able to park right in front of the house.
We really appreciate your consideration and hope you enjoy your stay.
