SUNNYSIDE - family friendly chalet sleeps 4/6 with views of the needles
Discount ferry tickets available on request.
Sunnyside is situated on the picturesque West Wight side of the Isle of Wight overlooking Hurst Castle and the New Forest on the mainland. It is adjacent to Fort Victoria Country Park from where you can walk to the ferry at Yarmouth in about 45 minutes. In the opposite direction you can walk the coastal path (which goes through the site) all the way to the Needles and beyond. Sunnyside is located on a holiday park with lots of open space for children to play and has a mini-golf course, childrenâs play equipment as well as a fitness trail.
The chalet has two bedrooms and can sleep 4 to 6 people with a sofa bed in the living area, king size bed in the main bedroom and bunk beds in the other. The kitchen is well equipped with washer/dryer and dishwasher. From the dining area is a view of the famous Needles (chalk stacks with a lighthouse) and there are often small boats or yachts sailing by. If you are really lucky you may spot a tall ship or a cruise liner.
The coastal path to the Needles takes you to Totland Bay where there are huts selling traditional seaside wares such as buckets and spades, beach balls and lilos. A tea shop right on the beach does all day breakfast or the Hut has more upmarket food which is very popular with the yachting community. A short walk inland from here will get you to Totties Fish and Chips where saveloys and mushy pea fritters can be enjoyed. The nearest town is Freshwater which has supermarkets including a Tesco, Co-op and a Sainsbury's and the world famous Dimbola lodge is worth a visit for a history of photography and an excellent lunch. Not to be missed is a drive along Military Road towards Freshwater when the sun goes down over Tennyson Down, it is truly stunning.
